I have been unable to listen to Candace on this issue. She is ill-informed, rather provincial in her understanding and frankly bringing her prejudices to bear.
Imagine traveling halfway around the world, only to condense your entire experience to a single line spoken by a tour guide, which you could have misinterpreted easily, or he might have started inelegantly.
Candace has been utterly embarrassing lately with regards to Israel. She has no clue, so why the need to comment? just talk about things you're more versed on.
She's that kind who believes to know it all, people do mistake being talkative to being knowledgeable. At one point she found a crazy of her type called Tommy Lauren something like that. They're both Republicans who don't like each other. Don't take her seriously with what she says, she tries by all means to be relevant. One time she approached a renowned designer and asked if he could do some work at her house. He refused and she went bananas calling it racist. 😂😢
No Candice! That is misleading, either deliberate or by accident but misleading non the less. Muslims and Arabs can live anywhere in Israel. They also vote and have drivers licenses and businesses and all of the same rights as Jewish, Druze and Christian and all Israeli's. There are some towns that are predominantly Arab but we have the same in Canada in Toronto where there is an Italian area and mostly Italians live there and or Chinatown etc. That is just wrong on how she is trying to portray Israel as an apartheid state. She is flat out 100% Wrong.

From her perspective, she was told that these were areas that they had to stay in by her tour guide. He was saying that's not the case and they can live anywhere and she was admitting that she may have been misinformed but at the same time, as someone that doesn't know anything about this either, he could also be wrong on it being open and available to anyone but they choose to live there. Realistically, I see it probably being like how things were here in the 80s where "We don't want your kind around here" but I don't know, it's a different culture.
I mean, she usually has good takes when she is well informed, but she failed to inform herself this time. She should watch Konstantin’s recent video, where he equates what’s happening to other situations. She’s also doing well bringing to light the Christian persecution and genocide that we aren’t even supposed to talk about because globally Christians are hated (FYI Christians were also heavily persecuted during the holocaust, not a word about it). On the other hand, she decided to talk about it at an inopportune time. All the stuff we watched and she didn’t bring up the Christian genocide until October 7 so it kind of felt like detracting. Final point - stop letting people get away with saying “holiday” instead of “Christmas” Because I realized - they want to use holiday to be more inclusive so “everyone can celebrate the season” but if they don’t celebrate Christmas why tf are they celebrating the season in the first place? We’re already accommodating people eho don’t celebrate by letting them join? It’s just erasure of Christians’ most important holiday. I also don’t want to hear anything about “it’s not the real day” because that is also bull used as erasure and you only have to look at other holidays to see how secularism is the one de-religifying holidays. Not the other way around. All I had to do was google if the Christmas thing was really true and historians have zero evidence of it being true.
I had a black co-worker who was born and raised in los angeles county who told me that compton was where the black people lived. With Candace's understanding, that would mean blacks werent allowed to live anywhere else? I moved from the bay area to los Angeles for work in 2012 and met her in 2013.

She's not wrong headed. White people were saying the same thing about black people during Jim Crow. That's the human nature that we know. Jews are no exception. Black neighborhoods were as good as black quarters in American in that black people could not live anywhere else without violence being acted upon them. We act like that was a century ago but that was boomers and many of them are still living. That was less than 60 years ago. So just like the whites during Jim Crow, let's go ahead talk about how good it is and how much equality there is when what was beneath the surface was a brooding hatred that has existed for a long time. She implied that she sensed that tension because of her experience with the history of her own grandparents here.

As someone who’s lived in Jerusalem Candace has completely misunderstood the idea of having “Muslim quarters” and “Christian quarter” and “Jewish quarter” She’s reacting with her own negative emotions. They were made for each religion and group to have a territorial connection to the old city but they can obviously live anywhere they want in Jerusalem like they actually do. The comparison to black segregation in Americas history is the worst comparison. A simple miss understanding by her combined with a trauma for her grandparents past led to an ignorant judgment by her. Thankfully she was educated on what the quarters in the old city are for.
This will make some people's heads explode: The more "Catholic" Candace becomes, the more goofy her opinions. I've seen it with others. Not all, of course, two of my closest friends are die-hard Catholics and their heads are on straight, maybe it's just the church they attend or the people teaching them about it???

She thinks "Quarter" means "quarters." She's literally saying "quarters," as in "provided housing." Since at least Medieval times, Jerusalem has been a multicultural city with a Christian Quarter, a Jewish, Quarter, an Arab Quarter etc. The most famous part of New Orleans Louisiana is literally, the French Quarter. Does she think the French people were rounded up and forced to live in a specific part of town? Every multicultural urban center in the world has neighborhoods where certain ethnicities have naturally accumulated over generations. Are Chinatowns legally-enforced ghettos? This was painful to watch.

She might be surprised to see that Israeli Arabs have more rights than Arabs elsewhere. The Arab cities in Israel are run by local Arabs and they get the same budget as any city and taxes from the residents. What they choose to do with that money and how much they spend on the welfare of the residents is their decision alone. If the Arabs won't elect better mayors what is Israel supposed to do about it? It's a democracy and a free country. And there are Arabs that live in Jewish cities but not the other way around because it's not safe
This is my experience. I have a good friend who is Palestinian and grew up in Jerusalem as a Christian. She took me there last spring. Being Palestinian she can not fly into Israel. We had to land in a neighboring country. And drive across the border. We were not allowed to got any coastline and she and other Palestinians are not allowed to buy costal property. I was shocked. Israel is a beautiful country and all the people are gracious.But, Palestinians are treated differently as second class citizens. That is just a fact.
@@mananimal3644 you're mixing two different things. There's being Palestinian and being Israeli Arab. Israeli Arabs are free to come and go. Palestinians need a permit to come into Israel because of fear of terrorism. When two countries do not have peace it makes sense that their citizens can't visit each country freely. For example the Israeli Jews aren't allowed into Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia and more. If they do they will be arrested or lynched. By the way, Jews aren't allowed at all into east Jerusalem and other parts of the west bank controled by the Palestinian authority, not even with a permit. If your friend's government ever has an election again and her people choose a moderate government that actually wants peace I'm sure the middle east will look a lot different and she'll be able to move around freely, and so will the Jews

I thought Candace was so much smarter than this. I’m certain she wasn’t taught how the Jewish quarter was ethnically cleansed by the Muslims for years starting in 1948 after it had been seized by Jordan, with the Jews only being able to reclaim their quarter after the Six Day War in 1967. The brutal occupation and desecration of Jewish property, including the cemetery and synagogues is virtually unmentioned by western journalists and academics and completely ignored by supposed journalists from the Islamic world.

There is a whole section of NYC where Hasidic Jews live, they are not forced to live there. Segregation is often neither forced or intentional, it's normal for people to seek out others that they identify with.

As a Jew I find that to be a really big problem. People on both sides seem to be very uneducated about this issue, as someone who is close to it - it's really obvious that most people see it from a very far away lens.
I started to get suspicious of Candace about five years ago. Arabs live the way they want to live, they live outside of the moslem quarter of the old city too. The quarters related to the old city are Armenian, Christian, Jewish, and Moslem. It is just historical. The old city in current form has been there since the 1500’s.
I was willing to give Candace Owens the benefit of the doubt that she merely misunderstood that "quarter" is used interchangeably in Israel with terms such as "ghetto", "projects" or "inner-city" in the US. The fact that she appears to (deliberately) continue making that mistake speaks to what I've come to see as her lack of integrity.

But I think Candace said the students who joined the pro Palestine riots should not be blacklisted. Then Megyn disagreed, some employers have decided to not hire people from certain universities due to the actions of pro Palestine rioters. Candace is the kind of person that can not study all semester and then write a final paper that sounds righteous enough that she knows about the subject matter but at the end of the day she's really just winging it.

A quarter in a city is an old term dating back hundreds of years. it means area or neighborhood essentially. Clearly she was misunderstanding it with quarters as in an individuals quarters as his personal space. She does not know what this ancient term means

We have a similar issue in the USA. There are nice homes and neighborhoods, then there are the democrat sectors ... run down, drug-infested, and lots of crime.
And just like in the USA, those run down areas are that way for a reason considering the people living there helped contribute to the degradation of those communities because of their culture and their actions.

45 years ago I moved to Mississippi. There was a big difference in the neighborhoods even though there was no law about where you had to live. Candace is intelligent enough to realize that this is the way all the world works.
I watched the “interview” in its entirety and Ami was spectacular. I hope he reads this as I am so proud of his responses and examples in this “discussion.” My disappointment, or maybe realization, in who Owens actually is, was devastating. Actually over the last few months I’ve seen Candice make some very specious and disingenuous statements. I don’t remember that coming from her in the past. Is she pushing to come up with content for the money?
I think generally she is trustworthy. I'm convinced this particular case is because Kanye made a fool of himself over the Jews awhile back and was criticized - and she is a huge Kanye fangirl. She's a loyal woman, and she's irritated at anything "Jew" for Kanye's sake. It's a blindspot to her typically logical and discerning points of view. I'm disappointed, and I think she has hurt her credibility, but I'm pretty sure this is why. Hopefully, she'll do better.
I noticed Candace does a lot of "Hollywood" tabloid style news now, and that isn't how she used to be either. I don't care for it, since I already knew Hollywood was crazy. If I'm spending my time watching someone, it's because I want the important stuff. I can read tabloids standing in the line at the grocery store, lol.

When I visited the old city in Jerusalem I was surprised that there were two Christian quarters. It doesn't sound like Candace asked to enter the mosque and was told NO!. I also wonder what hotel she stay in. I have a story to share. This was a big story in the UK, and Muslims were complaining that the Jewish hotels were taking all of their business and they couldn't fill their hotels. So I thought OK, I'll book into one of their hotels for a few nights while I was staying in Jerusalem. The taxi driver took me to a couple of their hotels, both hotels said there was no room in their hotel once they knew that I was a western woman. That blew their story out of the water. The taxi driver then took me to the large Christian hotel on the hill overlooking the city, a lovely hotel.

Candace has and is capable of following the Thomas Sowell playbook, and is very good at it. However the one piece Candace really fails at is how he owns his former Marxism. It's something he confronts everytime he speaks publicly on anything other than pure economics, and it's a real strength in getting people to listen to your conservative thought. I don't believe she's really a conservative, she's still a Marxist, just instead of pretending to be center left like most of them do, she's playing the center right. It's such a useful tool as demonstrated by Sowell, he gets excited when he has the opportunity to talk about it, candace get's triggered any time anyone mentions social autopsy.

She is a force of nature when talking passionately about issues she has greater command over. But then sometimes she tries to lean on her existing knowledge to make sense of situations and issues she doesn’t have a command over. She doesn’t always get these right… and she can appear both a little insecure and defensive in these situations. I get it, we all have our pride can get defensive when pressed. One lesson I hope she learns is to verify her information a little better before trying to make such a point as she was in this clip. I find her to be a genuine person who has been such a great voice on many issues, I hope she continues to learn and develop - as she did when she left the Dem plantation. That took guts and humility. If she can do THAT then turning from a few other faulty notions will be nothing in comparison. I think that she misunderstood what was being said. A specifically designated “quarter” in a city generally means that the people in that area belong to specific group. For example I have heard reference to “the French Quarter” in New Orleans. It does not mean that people of French dissent are only allowed to live there.
So the old city of Jerusalem was divided into quarter by the ottomans. In the war of independence, east Jerusalem, including the old city, fell under the protection of Jordan. Most arabs were forced out of west Jerusalem, all jews were forced out of east Jerusalem, including the old city, and the big synagogue HaChorava was burnt to the ground. In the war in 1967 the city was reunited, and the arabs got residentship and a possibility to apply for citizenship, which they by inlarge are declining to do so. There is no segregation under law, but there is a lot of circumstances that have created this divide.
Normally Candace has a good command of facts but she clearly blew this one. The truth is that in the PA areas Jews are not allowed to live, not vice versa. Do better Candace.

I am a tour guide living in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City. Does that mean that the Jews can't live anywhere else? The predominantly Muslim Quarter is simply where the Muslim neighborhood is. There are Muslims who live around the corner from me in the JEWISH Quarter.

As someone who’s lived in Jerusalem Candace has completely misunderstood the idea of having “Muslim quarters” and “Christian quarter” and “Jewish quarter”
She’s reacting with her own negative emotions. They were made for each religion and group to have a territorial connection to the old city but they can obviously live anywhere they want in Jerusalem like they actually do. The comparison to black segregation in Americas history is the worst comparison.

Does she think the French people were rounded up and forced to live in a specific part of town? Every multicultural urban center in the world has neighborhoods where certain ethnicities have naturally accumulated over generations. Are Chinatowns legally-enforced ghettos?

This is my experience. I have a good friend who is Palestinian and grew up in Jerusalem as a Christian. She took me there last spring. Being Palestinian she can not fly into Israel. We had to land in a neighboring country. And drive across the border. We were not allowed to got any coastline and she and other Palestinians are not allowed to buy costal property.
I was shocked. Israel is a beautiful country and all the people are gracious.But, Palestinians are treated differently as second class citizens. That is just a fact.

Palestinians need a permit to come into Israel because of fear of terrorism. When two countries do not have peace it makes sense that their citizens can't visit each country freely. For example the Israeli Jews aren't allowed into Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia and more. If they do they will be arrested or lynched. By the way, Jews aren't allowed at all into east Jerusalem and other parts of the west bank controled by the Palestinian authority, not even with a permit. If your friend's government ever has an election again and her people choose a moderate government that actually wants peace I'm sure the middle east will look a lot different and she'll be able to move around freely, and so will the Jews

As a Jew I find that to be a really big problem. People on both sides seem to be very uneducated about this issue, as someone who is close to it - it's really obvious that most people see it from a very far away lens.
I started to get suspicious of Candace about five years ago. Arabs live the way they want to live, they live outside of the moslem quarter of the old city too. The quarters related to the old city are Armenian, Christian, Jewish, and Moslem. It is just historical. The old city in current form has been there since the 1500’s.

I think generally she is trustworthy. I'm convinced this particular case is because Kanye made a fool of himself over the Jews awhile back and was criticized - and she is a huge Kanye fangirl. When I visited the old city in Jerusalem I was surprised that there were two Christian quarters. It doesn't sound like Candace asked to enter the mosque and was told NO!. I also wonder what hotel she stay in. I have a story to share. This was a big story in the UK, and Muslims were complaining that the Jewish hotels were taking all of their business and they couldn't fill their hotels. So I thought OK, I'll book into one of their hotels for a few nights while I was staying in Jerusalem. The taxi driver took me to a couple of their hotels, both hotels said there was no room in their hotel once they knew that I was a western woman. That blew their story out of the water. The taxi driver then took me to the large Christian hotel on the hill overlooking the city, a lovely hotel.

She is a force of nature when talking passionately about issues she has greater command over. But then sometimes she tries to lean on her existing knowledge to make sense of situations and issues she doesn’t have a command over. She doesn’t always get these right… and she can appear both a little insecure and defensive in these situations. I get it, we all have our pride can get defensive when pressed. One lesson I hope she learns is to verify her information a little better before trying to make such a point as she was in this clip. I think that she misunderstood what was being said. A specifically designated “quarter” in a city generally means that the people in that area belong to specific group. For example I have heard reference to “the French Quarter” in New Orleans. It does not mean that people of French dissent are only allowed to live there.

So the old city of Jerusalem was divided into quarter by the ottomans. In the war of independence, east Jerusalem, including the old city, fell under the protection of Jordan. Most arabs were forced out of west Jerusalem, all jews were forced out of east Jerusalem, including the old city, and the big synagogue HaChorava was burnt to the ground. In the war in 1967 the city was reunited, and the arabs got residentship and a possibility to apply for citizenship, which they by inlarge are declining to do so. There is no segregation under law, but there is a lot of circumstances that have created this divide.
Normally Candace has a good command of facts but she clearly blew this one. The truth is that in the PA areas Jews are not allowed to live, not vice versa. Do better Candace.

I am a tour guide living in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City. Does that mean that the Jews can't live anywhere else? The predominantly Muslim Quarter is simply where the Muslim neighborhood is. There are Muslims who live around the corner from me in the JEWISH Quarter.
