I passed this guy almost everyday, 14th street, 34th street, 42nd, Ive seen him everywhere, very few things make me cry but it made me so emotional to see him finally get him the recognition he deserves

Simon is awesome, He shut the airhead and the spice girl up. He has the best ear in the industry and he always makes sure people who he likes get a shot. He does a lot behind the scenes and has helped dozens of careers.
Heidi must be crazy, there were no rough edges!! He sang that classic song perfectly!!Mel is a.very cute, mediocre singer & she has the audacity to tell this man who has been singing almost 4 decades ,that he isn’t there yet, in bridging the gap between a subway singer & a stage performance! That gap is easy to close with a few lessons. This guy has a beautiful tone, great control & a superb, powerhouse voice. I would buy that song today if he recorded it!! I hope he is doing well wherever he is singing now & may TMH bless him abundantly.

This song was originally in a 1957 play and was sung by the leading man who was serving time in prison. I believe this was the most authentic sound. A sound of a broken man with a broken heart pining for his love. Astounding, heartbreaking beautiful. Thank you sir. I loved it!

I think polish is what this act was missing actually. An excellent raw voice, but needs to be refined in presentation. That part can be taught. He already has the natural vocal gift!

From the first note he hits directly in the heart. Simon had tears in his eyes. That's rare. He got a stage and he got standing ovation. He deserves every single bit of it!
this man has a talent that GOD has blessed him with and now he is sharing it with the world. I pray he wins and show mel and heldi that they need to take up vocal lessons from him because it's obvious there ears are not working or they are tone deaf for having any negative remarks on this true gift. I’m from NYC and broke but if I ever see this man I’m going to give me money because I now know he won’t be using that money in something he shouldn’t. For anybody that doesn't understand singing. He is the real deal. But he is used to singing without microphone.
Meaning that he sings full volume to reach the audience in the subways.
Because he knows how to sing and has a great voice stage singing can be learned. You don't have to sing full volume on stage as amplifiers and condensers and compressors will do a lot for the volume.
Understandably he doesn't know that but he will learn. He has a great natural voice.

Mel B and Heidi's negative feedback showed me their lack of understanding of what *real* music sounds like. I can understand if this is not their preferred type of music...but, this guy's music, spirit and heart are real. Thanks to Simon for putting it into context.

Melanie C for example is very successful as an solo artist and has some pretty good songs...the rest is doing some other things. Victoria Beckham is a successful fashion designer for example.
Some people are suited more for a group some more as a solo artist ...some can do both.
But still spice girls weren't that crappy and they opened a path for future girl bands.
Music tastes are always different doesn't mean that those artists necessarily are bad.

I've never heard of this guy. I didn't know his story. But this popped up under suggested videos so I figured I would give it a watch because UA-cam generally knows what I like to see. I don't watch this show so I don't know much about it. But I do know that it's rare for a singer to make me feel deep emotions to the point where I almost am in tears years. I could feel 37 years worth of hard work coming from this man. He is an absolute gem, and an amazing singer. Unbelievable.
That dude has a good voice and lots of talent , you can hear the emotion in his voice & that's what singers need to make a song believable and dude has it 100% .
I dont know if anyone on this thread has actually been down in the NY subway stations, but let me say this, I have spent days there just listening to some of the greatest musicians Ive ever heard, simple, plain, raw and beautiful with more talent and love of what they are doing then what ive seen at most major concerts, seriously.. Ive been there twice on vacation with some friends, and both times, we made it a point to spend two-three days just in the subways...I was in awe of the talent, and disturbed that people just 99 percent of the time just walked on by, not even noticing what greatness they were missing....
