Ive enrolled in to the cyber security course through TAFE, and cannot wait to start a new career.
Hell yeah!
What are the best avenues for someone who must change their career after a decade (mining) with no IT experience, but wants to change to cyber security? Thanks.
budget cuts, extreme needs for people but reluctance to invest because of concerns of it not being needed yet.
What about business analyst scope in Australia ?
Thank you so much your videos are as always as informative.
And, what certs and skills should must in order to work in Defence side role. I am looking for SOC role. Currently working in wollies & want to transition my career into Cyber Security
Have a look at the CCD certification and the CompTIA Security+/ CySA+. This, tied together with experience in a cybersecurity position or even an IT position should help to get you in :)
Thanks DC!
My pleasure mate!
So for an international student who is thinking in studying Computer Science in Australia. Will it be easier to find employement or an internship if I go the software development route or cyber security? I mean, based on what you were saying it's quite challenging getting an Cyber security job if you're not a citizen or have permanent residency, right?
There's not really any internships in IT/ cybersecurity in Australia. Yes, it's quite challenging to get a job in Australia (regardless of industry) if you're not PR or Citizen. This is even more prevalent when applying for cybersecurity jobs that require a citizenship to gain a security clearance.
What are your thoughts on getting a cert iv in cs from Tafe?
Always a great place to start - especially tied in with work experience from somewhere like learn.saferinternetproject.com
any advice for international students who want to start learning?
Hey DC , i;ve recently started studying Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity and Computing through UNE. Whats the brisbane scene like for entry level jobs and progression?
It's pretty good mate! You'll be well poised to get a job once you're finished (with some experience if you have any)
Hey there! Thanks for the helpful video. I'm an international student looking to study cybersecurity in Melbourne, Australia. I'm hoping to start working right after . Do you think that's possible and if so any advice?
Yes it’s possible, but not easy. Focus on private businesses and not government, as government roles often require a clearance which only a citizen can obtain :)
Hi, thank you for the video. I am a civil engineer but I have made a career switch 3 years ago and now I do cybersecurity. I hold Security+, eCPPTv2, OSCP and OSEP certifications. I don't have much experience on the sector as a pentester or red teamer. I would like to ask how likely it is for me to move Australia and find an offensive security role there. Thanks in advance
With those certifications and *some* experience, it shouldn't be too hard. What matters most is your work expeir3nce and working rights (visa) in Australia.
If you're keen on gaining work experience in pentesting to show on your resume. Head to learn.saferinternetproject.com and become a member, then join in on the live pentesting sessions that happen each week (real pentests on real business systems).
@@dccybersec Getting the working visa is the harder part :) Is it common there to provide visa sponsorship for offensive security roles or it is so rare?
@@onuryldz245 It really depends on prior experience to be honest
in melbourne which uni is most likely going to be looked at after completing a cybersecruity degree? or lets say masters, would a employer look at monash first over latrobe or does it not matter?
Honestly, any uni is good. My personal favourite in Melbourne is Deakin - based on the content that they teach
Hey! I’m an international student studying comp sci at Monash. Do companies usually hire international graduates for entry level cyber security jobs/help desk to start off? Cheers!
Sometimes, but you would really have to stand out against the other applicants
Thanks for your videos!
Is it possible for someone with three years of web developer experience to find a job in Australia after graduating with a master’s in cybersecurity?
Should be able to for sure! The main holdback will be working rights in Australia
@@dccybersec thanks!
Does cybersecurity background and education gives any priority in applying for residency/work visa? Or will I be treated same as any other random profession?
You'd be treated, by law, as anyone else applying
What about Adelaide's cyber security jobs? Cheers!
Honestly, not great. At least, not when compared to Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra or even Brisbane. There are some remote opportunities available though which would be worth looking into
Hey there , if I am 19 years old international student with great bunch of skills on pen testing and cyber security without experience at work , have I chances to get work?
You have a chance, but only a small one to be honest
Hi, I need information related to international students who choose to take a minor in Cybersecurity and do not have Australian Citizenship, are they eligible to take a job in Private Companies?
With a working visa, yes, however they have a lower chance of getting a job due to most cybersecurity roles needing a government clearance, which you can only get if you're a citizen
Hi, I'm from India , considering AUS to do masters in cybersecurity,I would like to have your advice on it
What do you plan on doing after you have your masters degree?
Are there remote opportunities? I reside in Nigeria
As in, working from Nigeria in am Australian company? Extremely unlikely, to be very honest with you. Almost impossible
hey, I am from India so I want a job in Australia so how can I get it.
Apply for a working visa first, make sure you have ample work experience and qualifications, physically move to Australia (not much remote work available outside of Australia for tax purposes) then start applying for work
can non science student can allowed to study cyber security
Of course!
Brother, I am Bangladeshi. I want to study Bachelor of cyber security in Australia. If I do a 6 month cyber security course from Bangladesh, will I get a part time cyber security job as a student in Australia? Please give your opinion.
Probably not. In Australia it really depends on your working rights (visa), experience and qualifications. Keep in mind a lot of the cybersecurity roles in Australia require a government clearance, which you can only obtain through being a citizen
is there any mea in cybersecurity university in Australia
Any what sorry?
@@dccybersec as a commerce student can I allowed to do MBA in cyber security or not
@@user-mx8xg5ex6f I would assume so mate. Check the universities in australia websites to see what they offer
