1999 Ford Ranger - Diagnose and Repair Turn Signal Failure

Short video on determining why turn signals failed, and how to repair. We'll discuss the first thing to check (fuses), where they're at and what to look for. In my case here, the fuses were fine and we needed to check the flasher relay, which was the culprit. We'll show how to remove and replace the flasher without removing the plastic & metal panels. Best video on this repair. Very simple and easy. Watched other videos were guys were taking off the plastic cover and metal cover. All those extra steps are not needed. Just slide the relay off towards the drivers door and pop it off. That was a little tough to pop it off the clip and put the new one on. Super easy, besides the struggle with the clip. Thank you so much!

I had that problem which was solved by cycling the emergency flasher several times.

Thank you so much for this video. My indicators / hazards were sticking on in humid climates. Checked through the various other videos on YT and they are all pretty terrible. Most of them start with the panels already removed. Your video saved me a lot of time and effort. The only fiddly part was due to the awkward angle and tough clip on the relay / wire connector. For anyone with a 1998 Ford Explorer, the following part works fine - Standard Motor Products RY-1214 Turn Signal Relay. Got mine on Amazon for $17. A lot cheaper than the Motorcraft part. It is missing the tiny 6th pin in the corner but many others report using the RY-1214 part without issue also.

How'd you know the part was bad? I just got hone from work and im having the same problem. Fuses are good. But what would i look for in a damaged/non-working part?

I have a relay that has a extra pin in it I can’t find one that has that extra pin. Can I buy one with just 5 pins instead ?

Nice video. The problem I have on my Truck is that when I turn the left or right signal I hear the click but it doesn't do anything on the dashboard or wont turn the signal light on. The hazardous lights blinks and work with no problm.
