Hi Sophie. I always look forward to your reviews! I’m a 72 year old guy and my swing speed and ball speed are very similar to yours, so I relate more to your reviews than most other Pros and reviewers on YT. I ended up with the new Wilson D9 Forged irons, partly due to your review of them (should receive them in next 10 days). As for Drivers - I think you left one out that really should have been considered - the Mizuno ST-Z 220. In my first session 10 days ago trying out drivers, I hit the PING G425 Max (not great feel and really a loud, almost obnoxious sound), Callaway Rogue ST Max (good distance, forgiveness and sound), Cobra LTD X (didn’t work well for me - dispersion was not good), and the Mizuno ST-Z 220 (distance similar to Callaway, nice feel, sound and best dispersion). At my next fitting appointment in the next 2 weeks, I’m going to add the Titleist, TaylorMade, Mizuno ST-X (draw biased) and maybe Tour Edge C722 along with the Mizuno ST-Z and Callaway. Having the ball in the fairway is a top priority for me. So dispersion is almost more important than 2-5 extra yards. Keep up the great work! Thanks!
Fan of the Ping G425 driver I bought last year and I like the turbulators too! I just find they frame the ball at address, so I bought secondhand G400 3 and 5 woods in nearly new condition just to keep the turbulators since Ping removed them from G425 fairways. A bonus was they also cost less than half price of the G425 fairways (£120 each). My swing speed with driver is about 100-103mph with driver and I found when trying several different shafts in different drivers that I was too quick for R flex but lost distance with S Flex. I then found the Ping Alta CB S flex shaft to suit me and gave me 10 yards plus over the Tensei AV Orange S flex on the course (not just the simulator). The moral for me was that the standard Ping Alta CB shaft outperformed all the fancy shafts in distance and accuracy for me, and I only found out through a good fitting experience.
I bought a Rogue ST Max AND a Stealth head when I could find them used for a few bucks off. On roughly equivalent strikes, the Rogue was longer for me and felt way more stable. It really almost LIKES when you mishit it - it gets to show off. Out of the center I think it's much of a muchness (as Soph says) but I just had a lot of variance in trajectory and especially spin with the Stealth. I think a fader with a lot of speed would get along tremendously well with the Stealth. And I admit: I really wanted to like the Stealth, because it looks cool and the feel is great! But the Callaway Rogue ST for me is just everything great about every driver of theirs from the last several years rolled into one. Forgiveness, speed, consistency, feel....The sound/feel at impact is even kind of like they smashed an Epic Flash, Mavrik, Epic Speed, and Big Bertha B21 all together! Both of them were easily out-distancing my M6, anyway. Hard to go wrong with a driver these days. Just find one you like the look and performance of and go play!
I went for a fitting, something I highly recommend. Did the fitting improve my swing? No. Did it find the driver which will guarantee I play better golf? No. At the end of the day, the biggest effector of the golf shot and it’s consistency is the person swinging the club. If you swing out to in, you slice. There are no servo motors correcting head alignment as the club face approaches the ball. But, it was a fun afternoon and it helped me connect with and choose a club. Every club in your review was in the mix. I went with an open mind. For me it came down yo the TSi and the Stealth, the numbers were very close. For some reason I could not hit a bad shot with the TSi on the range. So, off to the course with both and the Stealth came out on top, I preferred the sound and feel. SonI smiled to see them both come second in your review.
Had the G425 Max in standard length, sold it and have tried Rouge with 1” shorter shaft last Sunday and tried the Cobras yesterday. Verdict, Cobra in tour length 44,5” was ordered direct after the demo session was over. Now it’s just to wait for it to be built and delivered.
Played the tsi3 for last 18 month and can't fault it but i just fancied a change ( won't ever sell the tsi by the way) but i tried the tmade, cobra, ping and the cally rogue and honestly got the best numbers and results from the rogue st but may i say there wasn't much between any of them to be honest. For me i felt the rogue st triple diamond was the best looking and feeling driver of them all and for a players driver was incredibly forgiving and stable
Thanks for these excellent reviews of the Stx and Stz. Are you still planning on doing a comparison between these and the 425 Max and SFT? Very keen to see that! Thanks again 👍
Glad Sophie said what she did about the Stealth, I had a fitting in February for it and felt exactly the same, low heel left constantly couldn't tell where on the face I'd struck it at all. Thought it was just me because everyone who has one screams about them just wonder wether they are kidding themselves!
I've just recently discovered your vids (new subscriber), and i do believe i like your reviews better than anyone else's --- your swing is awesome, and i like how your #'s don't appear to be in some sort of contest with the viewers as to how hard you can swing a club. Having said that, concerning the Ping's length - it was shorter on distance, but the swing speed was slightly slower as well - which likely contributed to that category. Do you have any thoughts as to why that was, such as perhaps it was a slightly heavier club than the others? In any case, thanks for your honest and well-thought-out reviews!
Great video Sophie, I love driver reviews but when it comes to the cost I find them hard to take seriously. Especially when you know you can get a PXG 0211 brand new with fitting options for around £200.
Just wait til the new models come out. Pick one up then. They have last years models on this side of the pond for $300 everywhere. The PXG is $229 here, so really not a huge difference, especially if you play frequently and plan on keeping it a couple years.
@@jeffdejaynes7231 100% correct -- heck, there's a Labor Day sale going on at Golf Galaxy and they've dropped prices on lots of last year's stuff, Ping included. I don't recall the last time I bought a brand new driver until it had been on the market for at least a year.
Great review Sophie. But i think you left out the one of the best drivers of 2022, the Mizuno 220 ST-Z ! Similar to the Cobra LTDx it’s weighted very neutral. Recently seen and compared all the heads at Club Champion when I went for my putter fitting on the SamPutt lab and I love the tall face of the ST-Z. The TM stealth has a similar face profile I have a toe miss and this would be great for me. BUT I’m currently gaming a 2016 M2 and this is the best driver I’ve ever played and I’ve been playing nearly 30 years! I won’t be changing anytime soon but maybe next year I’ll compare the ST-Z to it and the Rouge ST max
Just my opinion Sophie i don't think I've ever seen you hit better numbers than with the cally rogue triple diamond. I'm off 5 and only swing around 96mph but honestly I've not hit a better driver which gave me my best dispersion and distance than triple diamond. Looking forward to the low spin bracket though, great content as usual 👌
i have a G425 max and it’s incredible for distance and forgiveness but it sounds bad. so i can’t take it out the bag bc i rarely lose balls. i hit the callaway rogue max and it sounds and feels great. if i could marry the two OMG
Stealth stock Ventus Red is its downfall. It's too soft so it's too spinny and vague as a result. Wish TM had stuck with the Ventus Blue like last year but that wouldn't match the red face would it. Poor marketing reason for shaft choice this year. TM doesn't tip the Ventus Red either while they tip the Ventus Blue by 1" as default. Given the ball speed, I bet it'll fare much better with a better shaft in both distance and feel to keep spin down and better feedback. Tipping the stock Ventus Red by 1" or 1.5" just might do the trick also.
These things are making me forget about buying them for one simple reason. Here in Australia they are all nearing A$1,000 each and that's just pushed me out of the market.
For me stealth is the first driver I have liked and performed for me since my m2 (and I have had ping, callaway, pxg, titleist and others since. Best sound, feel and tighter dispersion. Love the carbon red and looks. Never liked ping sound and looks. Also did not like the cobra looks and sound. For me also stealth was and is stable (after 60 rounds with it!). Key was the choice of shaft. Did not like the Ventura red but when I switched to a different stock shaft, made some tweaks to length of shaft and driver settings.
Always been taylormade but other than the saving in looks of the red face…it’s boring…on top well…most boring taylormade driver ever…a lot of people would disagree regarding stability as others are saying anything off the middle of the face is pretty bad..obviously if you hit the middle of the face different story…I have gone for the callaway ls max…I haven’t had a callaway for at least 10 years..always really had taylormade..also personally don’t like the pear shape…at the end of the day none of them can improve the moi of the face…
@@johnmurray5840 yes I tend to agree. Never liked the sims shape. And that’s why I liked the m2 too - preferred it’s shape and looks. At least stealth is less protruding. Seen very good reviews of the roque st but did not get to try it - partly a leftie version was not available at the time. But yes mostly hit driver out of the middle so perhaps that is why I get consistent performance. If I get the opportunity will try out the roque st just to compare. I presume Titleist will also be releasing their new lines in the autumn or early next year. For now the stealth is serving me really well. Happy golfing

@@Longarmshortarm I have just completed 80 rounds of golf with it and no issues at all so far. Indeed far less scuff marks than with other clubs and club face holding up perfectly - he says🤒
I am assuming your swing is based on the average male swing speed? Do these drivers really come alive over the 100mph range? This may change your outcomes.
If only I knew Mark. 100 rpm is dreamland for me. I can only give my opinion if you are looking for 100mph maybe take a look at some other northern lads UA-cam reviews like Rick and Pete
Funny how it's always the big name drivers that are tested. I'll keep my shitty acer xv. It outdrives all my friends that spent the big bucks. Mine cost $100 bucks and it's strait down the middle and as long as I need. Amazing how much different shafts make though.

Great review. I have a cobra F8 and just love it. Great to see Cobra continue to make great drivers and at such a good price point.
My favorite is my Ping G425 Max, its a very forgiving club, I replaced my Sim driver with the Ping and have been very pleased.

Swing up on the driver. Your attack angle is too steep.
