    Its always nice to learn something new! Thank you guys for that one small trick for making the rumble "groovier". I never thought i could use a kick sample hi-passed like that to create more groove, I was always thinking the trick is using the delay on top of that. Much love

    I'm a long time reason user but have always admired LIVE.

      Reason is a great starting point. I used it for a long time and I even worked with some top artists who continue to use Reason to release professional tracks. Since reason incorporated VST support it's a totally viable DAW. I haven't used it in a long time but my only gripe would be the mix engine, as it used to not hold up compared to other DAW's. Maybe that's been improved but I'm not sure.
      If you do decide to take the plunge into Live, the transition should be largely painless. Live is definitely far more advanced but the essentials are mostly the same as Reason. I remember building long intricate racks in Reason and I missed that when I started using Live, but now Live also has that capability. Definitely give Live a shot. :D
      I use Studio One mostly these days. Still have Live installed but I like the workflow of Studio One, however, there are still some things in Live that are much more conducive to writing EDM.

      Ableton is nice for sure but at the start you won't be satisfied or maybe you will. anyway my point is that you need to take advantage of the effect racks and build crazy things but also simplistic tools to make your workflow easier and faster.
      but can say if you are on it u can build a freaking track in no time. Resampling function is gold!

      Paul Maddox (left) is a well-established mix engineer, Rich Wakley (right) knows his way round a studio just fine - both lads are talented producers and DJs in their own rights. Just a good crossover of ideas and strengths to play to.

    can anyone explain how to get the filter midi mapped to the velocity that he's done with the percussion stabs

    • @paulmaddox
      @paulmaddox 7 років тому +11

      In Simpler, just turn up the parameter labelled "VEL" below the filter, then play with the main cutoff to find the sweet spot (Y)

    And where can we possibly find Kick transients rack ?

    • @piter00711
      @piter00711 7 років тому

      I bet they build it themselves

    • @nextplanetgaming8749
      @nextplanetgaming8749 7 років тому

      The sample packs of transients exist for sale in various places. Buy one, and load them into a sampler across your keys. Voila. You can do this with all of your drum instruments which makes life easier when auditioning samples.
