The real answer: he made something up that sounded scary but it went viral and so many people were invested so he had to make up an ending that sounded believable.
Just a theory: The landlord isn't happy with the tenant (perhaps they had a disagreement or he doesn't respect the property) and as a result really wants this guy to leave. But in order to make the tenant leave by his own accord, he leaves creepy stick notes to freak him out (which clearly worked), eventually the tenant would choose to leave on his own therefore achieving the landlords goal. This would explain why the hand writing on the notes was the same as the landlord, and he would also have a key to access his flat to place them and delete the footage.

My initial comment was based on my understanding of the story beforehand which was mainly gained through videos like this on youtube, but now looking at the original post on reddit it reveals that it was just someone who got really ill and was convinced he was being stalked. looking at these posts, i'm 100% certain it was a true story.
