    Big fan of the Solitaire. It gets overlooked because it's not supernova bright, but it's just fine for everyday requirements.

    I have a Solataire that's currently out of commission, but over 30 years old. Hopefully a new bulb will set it right. Maybe I'll pick up an LED Solataite. I'm really happy Mag Instrument still makes them in the USA. Thanks for showing this one!

    I currently have a V3 EDC led light type c recharge. Pretty versatile versatile, I just picked up one of these for like four or five bucks, so going to give it a try. I like the robustness and the classic factor. I like the long one style vs the little square format i have now. Gonna see what difference it makes in my pocket when it arrives.

      You know, I have a combo Victorinox multifunction switchblade and a Solitaire in the same leather belt case. It is possibly 30+ years old.

    I have a ledlenser p2. It's the same format: 1AAA, button in the back, adjustable focus beam. I used to carry it in my pouch, now is in my keychain. I was almost ready to buy a Nitecore tiki or a Fenix e3, but as there is no option to replace the battery i will stay with my ledlenser

    I slowly learned how to get the most out of mine over the time I've owned them:
    Rechargeable AAAs.
    Rechargeables run pretty consistently for 90% of their battery life and only start to get dimmer and weaker right when they're about to die.
    In contrast to that: Disposable Alkalines only run brightly for the first 10 or 15 minutes and then they stay permanently dim for the rest. And sometimes with some disposables it'll get to the point where the flashlight will be so dim that it's unbearable to use anymore.
    //-snip- it got too long
    Also, every now and then(three months'ish) I'll take out the bulb and reinsert it even though it hasn't died yet. That sometimes dislodges dust that gets into the switch(can make it run dim.)

      I used to use my cell phones flashlight however when it comes to battery life I’d much rather use the battery on my flashlight in my phone.

      I used to use my cell phone for rare times when I really needed a flashlight. Now I carry a cheap Coast "inspection light" clipped at the outside edge of my back jeans pocket and find this is perfect for me. Easy to grab and turn on one-handed in the dark. I can set it on the ground, pointing where I want... in the rain... all kinds of stuff I don't want to do with my phone. And the weight doesn't matter. As long as I'm wearing jeans I don't even know it's there. But for a light on your keys, that does look like an awesome workhorse EDC. Thanks for the update. : -)

    The olight ir2 eos is a tiny beast. Also easier nowadays to find usb charging than a duracell

    I carry a Rovivon A1 flashlight and it is amazing

    • @markcoffman494
      @markcoffman494  2 роки тому +1

      I have owned that one and the other one that has the multiple options like the police flashing light and the reading lamp function. However the main flashlight portion actually ended up crapping out on me and I paid about $40 for the flashlight. I leave it in the car only because the red LED still works and it’s a great hazard light if you have to pull over at night. But other than that the A1 series and the other ones made by that company I have Written off in my book.

    I used to have a solitaire on my keys but the tailcap unscrewed a few times and I almost lost the light. Once it completely fell off at the supermarket and I would have lost it if a man walking behind me hadn't alerted me.
