In May 2010 Jose Mourinho was appointed manager of Real Madrid, having just won the Champions League with Inter Milan.
This is the story of Mourinho’s time at Real, in two parts. This part tells the story of his rivalry with Pep Guardiola and Barcelona - missing out on the Barca job, 4 El Classicos in 17 days, and trying to topple Barcelona as the most dominant side in Europe.
Written by Seb Stafford-Bloor, illustrated by Philippe Fenner.

    JM won the Conference League!
10 years ago, Mourinho fell to his knees after the cruel penalty shootout against Bayern. Undoubtedly, it was the most hurtful defeat in his career. His team was the best team, but without a CL title. Haters will come to discredit Mourinho, saying his stint was a failure. But before him, RM couldnt even beat Lyon to get past the RO16. True Madridistas will appreciate him.

It's funny because their manager was Mourinho who has a reputation for being a "football terrorist". Mourinho may not have won the CL for Madrid, but he damn well brought them back to the elite, his winning mentality and never give up attitude resonated among the players. No wonder Madrid went on to win 4 CL titles in 5 years.

After Barça being confirmed to have paid millions to the vicepresident of referees since 2003, this video hits different and puts Mourinho’s feat and words into more value.
Big balls going against the whole establishment and still being able to have victories.

Yes. One of the best teams ever. I remember watching them with a friend and every game was like another war Mourinho led onto. Benzema was so talented but didn't start matches often enough. He was reckless and lacked discipline back then. These days made him into the beast he is today.

Mou literally had badluck with Real in every semi final of UCL, playing against the best Barca team, unlucky in penalty shootout vs Bayern and came one goal short from the final while playing at home against Dortmund in his last year.
In terms of Penalty shootout against Bayern he literally picked all 3 of the best penalty takers he have and put them as the first 3 kickers, all of them can't score. That's why Zidane randomize the penalty takers during the 2016 final against Atletico by putting young Vazquez first, Cristiano was the one that took the winning penalty.

There was no horror tackle from Pepe on Alves! Alves dived, got Pepe sent off, and that changed the dynamic of the match. It was a poor refereeing decision and Madrid players had every right to think they were being treated unfairly, because they were.

Real Madrid back then was struggling to to get back to it's glory days and don't think they would of gotten to the point they are today without him guiding them through the Guardiola reign hard to not give him credit for the incredible league title with record number of goals
