I remember the surviving sister of a set of twins experimented on by Dr Mengele, asked how she could be happy considering everything she had suffered, she said simply that she refused to hold on to the hatred, as it was essentially self destructive, and she wanted to live a happy life with her family and not pass on the trauma intergenerationally.
