Antique Leg Cuff Shackle Restoration

- I restore a rusty antique leg cuff. I bought this antique leg cuff shackle at the local antique store. I thought is was an amazing restoration project. It was missing the chain and other shackle but still a great item to bring back. I wasn't able to take it all apart but that's what you get with shackles. I hope you enjoy this restoration project.
If you have something you would like me to restore send me an email at business@lostandrestored.com

LPL is on the way to rescue you and pick it open LOL.
After you "lost the key" I thought you were going to grab for the amputation saw you restored last week.
Essa peça é do tempo da escravatura
Nao é bonita, mas faz parte da história

I thought about that. I wanted to tease another project in the same shot.
@@lostandrestored good idea bro :))
Muy buen trabajo, pero no me gustó que lo pintara
That was a great restoration job. 👏👏👏👏 but i don't understand how the locking mechanism work.
The lock is very simple, it's a metal bar with a spring pushing it forwards through the slot in the shackle. The other end has a screw thread and as you turn the key it drags it back against the spring tension until it releases. When unlocked the key can't be removed until you unscrew it. At this point, if the cuff is open you can 'snap it shut' as the tip of the bar is tapered so the shackle pushes it inwards, but once snapped home, you need the key! (I have an old set of police handcuffs and that's how they work, that shackle looks similar in design but might be slightly different)
@@johntatman7477 thanks 👍👍👍
I like that she didn’t shine at all up left it kind of old looking
Me: No way he can restore this

Nice restoration for such a horrible thing.😔
Gostei 🇧🇷
Painted. Nop.
Да это же кандалы!
You really restored a torture instrument used in slavery? That’s very upsetting, very indeed.
😂😂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Was that used to chain black people in the US?
Leg cuffs have been used to chain prisoners in chain gangs as they worked along the side of roads, to move people in and out of court, and unfortunately blacks were horribly handcuffed and cuffed at the ankles too.
Unprofessional work
