Another great restoration. Always enjoy your "magic" and humor. Liked finish on lock at the end. I have seen restored locks with steely finishes, this in not accurate . Most heavy duty locks had finishes like this or were painted a flat black or gray. Great detail.
Beautiful, and so "shiny" when you finished.I love that shine! And, a couple of times there, I thought you were going to wind up with *rust soup*, but you managed to get rid of that! Truly, it's a super restoration and congratulations on your talent and knowledge how to do It.
Need to paint the new rivet set up . The silver of the rivets and washers stick out like a sore thumb. Painting them would make them look more like part of the design.
Could we have a moment of silence in honor of ye olde grinder.😔☺️😅 I’m not an expert in lock fashion 😅 but I really like the contrast of the different color rivets against the color of the lock, it jazzes up the look.👍🥰 Another job well done !❤️
Interesting, That lock said SOO LINE, and old defunct railroad line, it actually used to go through the little town I grew up in in central North Dakota.
Cool job, mate - congrats! I didn't know that "to give up the ghost" is a fixed term in English. In German we use the same wirds for the sam expression! Hope you had a nice Christmas time! Greetings fron Germany from the silver fox, David 😉🦊
This has nothing to do this but is an amusing story. My new neighbors had a big Christmas the other night. Loud, screaming, drunk people, loud music, loud talking, blocking my driveway. One guy passed out in his car that was blocking my driveway. Went on until 3:30 a.m. Cops could hear them down the road and came. The next day, I'm in my detached garage/workshop grinding a knife blade. Neighbor sticks his head up and asks me if I would mind keeping it down. So I don't. He screams at me to keep it down or he'll call the cops. So I outline that he can't, but also he had his party and the issues with that and I let it go. So he calls the cops and tells them I threatened him with the knife I was working on. Cops show up, hands on guns. Asking me questions. Rudely. Point out I never threatened him amd show them the video footage from my security camera. The cops threatened to arrest him! Come out the next day, my power is out to the shop. He jumped the fence and cut the power cable!!!. He already knew I had security cameras because the cops told him I did. So he could be seen hopping the fence, wearing his ridiculous Gucci-flage came hoodie. You don't see his face, but the hoodie is distinctive and he's jumping the fence from his backyard. Cops come. Interrogate him. Find the hoodie. Ask me if I want to have him arrested. So I said if he had an electrician come repair the line, I wouldn't. He said he wasn't doing that. My shop makes 'weapons' and that threatens him and make him feel unsafe. Yes he is one of those with the blue and green hair and 10 facial piercings. Cops explain he will have to pay for it anyways. He still refused...until they pulled out the handcuffs and he started crying and begging, then threatening me and the cops with his friends and the LGBTQ+@2S%&=%÷
I suppose that as slotted screwdrivers are becoming obsolete then the way you use them is "acceptable" but to an old fogey like me it still does not seem right. Can I ask why you did not paint over the pins and washers on the front of the finished restoration? Why use washers in the first place? Just curious and not a criticism in any way. I'd love to get my hands on an old lock like this to have a go myself.
I could watch the restoration of old locks all day...and sometimes do! Keep em coming!
MARIA LUZ
Awesome! That was the exact color I was thinking would be perfect for that lock! Great restoration!
Great job. Thanks for sharing.
I love to watch the trains over at Virtual Railfan, and old SOO railcars still show up from time to time

R.I.P. Old Grinder... It Has Seen Better Days...
Next episode: restoring your old grinder. 👍
Not a fan of the new rivet but its a detail and everything else is amazing
I agree.
Have to agree the rivets make it look cheap. Everything else looked nice.
Horrible
indeed, the rivets are a little weird. amazing finish anyway, as always
I remember seeing 'Soo Line' on the tracks in the early to mid 1980s in Western New York (Genesee County)
0:36...Скорей всего это замок на ворота или для велосипеда, лодки...))
I don't like the new rivets at all but to each his own. The rest of it looked great.
Excelente trabalho e tenha um feliz Natal 👏👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷

I think those rivets were interesting. Can you tell me their name? Thank you. By the way, my son and I appreciate your skill.
You should restore your old grinder.
It’s perfect
C O O L !!
Love from Pakistan 🙂
Das Sprichwort "Den geist aufgeben" heisst soviel wie "quit the service"und nicht "give up the ghost"
:D
Hier in Schottland wir sagen "give up the ghost". Aber nur wann der Whisky ist ganz getrunken! 😉
Grinder restoration please
Are you going to put it on your drinks cabinet? 😉
it's a switch lock, as in the switches they used to change the path of a train from one track to another
The key look like a little too much thin to not break off if someone use too much strenght to open the lock
SOO line also known as Sioux Saint Marie Railway.

Lovely work… but the washers look awful
You should clean your table in between
like i've seen it before. 🤔🤔
Can't you restore your old grinder? 😁
Maybe you need a grinder to restore a grinder...
@@marklammas2465 lol, I didn't think of that 😄👍
Oh my God where did this clay came from all ... !!! Who has built ... !!? There is a big question mark?🤔🤫😏
Looks like KELINE...not KLEIN....but that's an easy mistake 2 make....=))
You have to be a batchler, my wife would kill me if i did that on her table.
Où est-ce que t'as vu de la rouille, toi ?!! c'est plein de terre et/ou du sable mais pas un pet de rouille !!! 😂😂😂
This is a genuine restorer from the US 🇺🇸, not one of those financially poor oriental fraudsters, and that padlock did have rust on it
