This second of two gigs in the Irish capital went down very well. The Smiths had many fans in Dublin and were well received. People who attended this second night were treated to two extra songs: "Pretty Girls Make Graves" and, returning for the first time in 15 months, "Jeane". The encore alone featured five songs. Support was again provided by the Frank Chickens.
Morrissey changed the melody of second occurrence of the line "a jumped up pantry boy" in "This Charming Man". He did the same with the line "dump her on a doorstep girl" in "This Night Has Opened My Eyes". "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" was introduced with the rhyming "This is our new single which you can buy now!... it's called 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now!'." Morrissey asked someone in the audience "So?" before launching into "Miserable Lie" which, incidentally, starts with "So goodbye..." The epic "Barbarism Begins At Home" was introduced with "This song is called 'Barbarism Begins At Home' and you should know." Johnny added a short intro to "What Difference Does It Make?". This was a one-off event, it had never been done before and was never repeated. Over this newly added bit Morrissey said something that sounded like "it's a complete reasonable question".
On returning for the first of two encores Morrissey announced: "Listen... we're really nervous, we haven't played this song live for almost two years... so... please be patient." The song in question was "Jeane" and it had actually been absent from the setlist for 15 months. The first encore ended with a second helping of "Hand In Glove" which on this night was extended at the end with a drum solo by Mike. When the band returned for the second encore Morrissey said "Thank you, you're very kind" before the band launched into "You've Got Everything Now". After a few lines in that song Morrissey was kept away from his microphone, probably by some fan who had climbed on stage and was hugging him. As earlier on this tour there was barely a break between the latter number and the following one, the set closer "Handsome Devil".
