Yeah, that building would be depressing. Ugh. I remember being really into this in high school, drafting and building and architecture. I got flat out told I couldn't do shop and my drafting teacher discouraged me from doing anything else with it despite me enjoying the class. Fast forward to my trip to Tijuana, Mexico years later. My partner grew up there and was showing me around to the non-touristy places. Man, the slums were.. mind blowing. Everything around here is so grey and beige and samey samey and blah. Yet the slums there were bright and colorful and so cheerful. Those folks had no running water, no electricity, but the buildings they cobbled together were stunning in the colors that were used. It was such a contrast of slums and vibrancy and color. I dunno, I still can't get the right words for it and that trip was over a decade ago.
That is awful and I'm so sorry you were turned away like that. :( They missed out on a brilliant mind. I can imagine about those neighborhoods in Mexico though! It's okay if you can't describe it, it sounds like it was wonderful to leave such an impression on you after all these years. Thanks for sharing
Just an idea if you plan to color the artwork: Make the skyscraper grey and dull and all the other buildings colorful, lifely and with greenery ^^ In the end I would add an arrow to the skyscraper and write down the headline next to it.
omg that concrete looks so sad. The echo would drive me NUTS. The dark gray gives it like a gloomy dungeon feel and not in the fun way! No amount of plants helped! It was dark cool tones on top of dark cold grays. Bleh! XD
i dont hate skyscrapers per say... but i *do* hate how much money gets invested in them when i cant even afford rent 😅. how about we "innovate" some affordable housing?

:D ! This is a wonderful idea! I'm gonna save it for when I feel comfortable coming back to the piece to color it. Thank you so much!
