Hello Jenny,
I wouldn't say you are "bad" at growing Ariocarpus from seeds, they are just slow growers - your seedlings are reasonably sized for 7-month old plants. Fact that there are so few left is consequence of inadequate sanitary conditions during sowing. For slow growing species sterile conditions are necessary for grower's success.

I'm seeing some consistent comments on this. I'm going to try again since I still have some seeds and now have seeds from my own plant, so really no harm in trying again!

I think Ariocarpus likes to make a spa, put them in an airtight plastic box. Then cover it with a black cloth, and make sure the soil of the seedlings is kept moist, and the temperature in the box can reach between 40~50°C , they will grow at a high speed, and they will look very plump and green!
I'm going to try one more time since I still have some seeds and some seeds from my own plant. I will use your suggestions. Thank you for the tips Hsuan!

Thanks for the update! I think Ariocarpus seedlings like humidity, moisture, and heat. I keep mine in baggies or 1020 tray with low covers keeps them green and growing faster. Consider trying one pot to experiment. Glad to see the Boss looks good and chatty!
The Boss is always bossing me around 😂 i think you are completely right about the Ario growing conditions. I still have some seeds and now some seeds off my own plant so might as well try again! How long do you usually keep yours covered, James?
@@cookiescacti 4-6 months in baggie, they like heat and light. After, i take out of baggie, keep warm in covered propagator for another 4-5months, they will be nice, green, growing.

I'll probably let some go later this summer. I made some space magically appear but I think that space will be filled soon. I'll do the announcement on Instagram when the time comes.

how do you fertilize them on the first months
Good question. After coming out of the domes I was mixing fertilizer diluted down 1/10 into their water. Whether that's the "right" thing to do or the best thing to do I have no idea. I'm just doing things all willy nilly!

Yes, I do fertilize the indoor seedlings with a cactus fertilizer I bought from my local cactus society diluted down 10x. It's added to every watering
