@The No.1 Guy I'm not inclined to think every Avatar is a bending prodigy, even in their natural element 🤔 The Avatars ARE connected, but Aang and every Avatar is still different and individual. Being a prodigy may just be a perk of being Aang himself. How far this connection of reincarnation goes is still a mystery 🤗 Also, air and water bending have similar styles, if I'm not mistaken. So that's another leg up that Aang would have for learning so quickly.
It's not only that Aang is the Avatar but he's already mastered Air so he's already got the basics of bending and just has to learn a new style. Think of it like someone who already knows MMA learning a new style vs someone who's never thrown a punch and is self taught.
Also Aang is an exceptional prodigy, being the youngest air bending master, and the most powerful avatar in history at only the age of 12-13ish having learned many techniques that his predecessors never learned, and being far more adept than some avatars who practiced their whole lives.
But just because he's the Avatar doesn't mean he doesn't struggle with some of the other elements depending on which nomad of the cycle you are you have a tendency to the struggle against the one element that counteracts towards your own native element
Thing is, even if aang wasn’t naturally gifted, he knows the basics of bending and water is naturally flowing like air, so it’s easier for him to pick it up than katara who never had any formal bending training
@Shadow M Fire is right after, since fire depends on air. As Iroh said, its power comes from the breath, and nobody knows how to breathe like an airbender.

Aang is gifted but flighty and lazy. If he has someone who can teach him that makes him WANT to learn, or he's otherwise motivated, he's incredibly good at picking stuff up. Waterbending is based on Tai Chi, which is an internal style that focuses on the control of energy. It is very soft, gentle and flowing, but devastating when mastered. Students learn to use little strength to defend themselves. The practitioner creates circles to pass by attacking energy and issues their own energy outward (defense becomes offense, using someone's attack against them). While also being used for combat, Tai Chi also serves as therapy for the purpose of health and longevity. So overall, it is an art of both combat and healing. As for how Katara was acting, I can understand it. She was jealous. For her, she had to learn everything on her own. Teach herself and she really struggled with it. Waterbending and Airbending are all about shifting body momentum and flow, that's why waterbending came so easily to Aang, since he's already a master airbender. Earth and Fire aren't the same.
Aang has several things going for him… 1. His personality works best with Air and Water, with Fire being a little tougher because of it’s aggressive nature, and Earth being the hardest because of it’s stubborn nature. 2. He already knows the fundamentals of bending and has mastered an element. 3. He has a teacher. 4. He has every past lives’ experience, even if it’s subconscious.
The reason i remember it being explained to me why water was so easy for aang was because of the avatar cycle. Which ever element the next avatar is born into will be the easiest for the current one to learn where as whatever the previous avatars main element was will always be the most difficult.
bending elements and mastering it is different, katara can waterbend but she only know moves that she created herself, and she's not even that good at it, that's why they need to go to north pole so they can find a real master to teach them, and the reason why katara only teaching him now is because they just found out that aang needs to master all 4 elements before summer ends, before that they probably thought that aang can fights the fire lord whenever he's ready
5:08 will actually come easy to him because it’s just like air bending. Water is easy to him, because water is also free flowing like the air nomads and therefore him as well. Avaters struggle with their natural opposites so earth bending will be the difficult for him. Just thought I’d let you know
The thing about Aang is that he was already an airbending master when he was 12, that's why he has those tattoos...the boi is mad talented, not to mention the fact that he's the avatar. That's why he got those lessons in a heartbeat.
He was able to bend water easily because it is the closest to his native element. But at this point he is nowhere near to be a master. It’s like having a sword and you need a master to know how to use it. Just swinging it around doesn’t make you a good sword fighter.
Aang is a quick learner like Goku,it reminds me when Master Roshi use to train Goku when he was a kid and Goku would learn it in a few seconds and it took Master Roshi months or years to master it b4 showing him
So aang hasnt mastered water bending yet but he is good at learning it because of his placement in the Avatar cycle. Basically depending on your orginal bending element will determine how hard or easy it will be to bend the other elements. Also regular humans can take on benders to a degree like you saw this episode. There are ways to effectively fight benders.
One cool tidbit about this episode: Zuko's voice actor is Dante Basco, the guy best known for having played "Rufio" in the movie "Hook." img.cinemablend.com/filter:scale/quill/d/4/9/c/3/1/d49c3185f926442a1d0caa74d756ffe8d1062e03.jpg?fw=1200 The pirates in this episode were all voiced by fellow actors who played in that movie.
I believe the reason why Aang gets the hang of water bending cuz it's similar to air bending. Both are flowy forms, where fire/earth appear more forecful.
Dude! Golden Boy! Ya'll could finish that in a day! It was easier for Aang to learn Water-Bending because of how similar it is to Air-Bending in terms for free-ness. Can't wait for the pace to pick up.
out of all four elements water and air are the most alike. water is flowing and free and changes its path the second it hits an obstacle. much like air. and Aang is an airbending master at age 12, so waterbending came easily to him. but i love how the creators cared about those details. anyway; great reaction as always!
I mean on the cycle, Air and Fire are opposing elements as well as Earth and Water. So it makes perfect sense that both Water as well as Earth would be easier for to him learn. Obviously that works both ways. Im sure the last element Roku mastered was Air in the element tree for the same reason. Im assuming this is why its so easy for aang
Idk if it's connected but both air ang water are light movements and flow with that element. While both fire and earth are heavy movements with origin what those both elements are, like the fire is the energy, and earth is your body/partner/guide kinda
Aang learning water bending really fast is in part that he is already a Air master not just an air bender. Only the air master get arrow tattoo. So he already haves the basics and the decipline of it, all he needs it the feel and the moves.

He already knows the fundamentals of bending and has mastered an element. 3. He has a teacher. 4. He has every past lives’ experience, even if it’s subconscious.
Man on the right over here dying 😂 had me laughing he thoroughly enjoying the show
0:20 I love it when Lupa says CAPTAIN PLANET!!!!!!! so funny😂😆🤣
12:16 mi favorite part this ep 🤭
Knowing Iroh and this show i would totally get out of my way to search another Pai sho piece 😅
i like how the non benders arent incompetent. these pirates were goated
The reason i remember it being explained to me why water was so easy for aang was because of the avatar cycle. Which ever element the next avatar is born into will be the easiest for the current one to learn where as whatever the previous avatars main element was will always be the most difficult.
Oh yeah I forgot about that it totally makes sense . I hope your having a wonderful day &nite wherever y'all are in the world stay safe peace out ✌
bending elements and mastering it is different, katara can waterbend but she only know moves that she created herself, and she's not even that good at it, that's why they need to go to north pole so they can find a real master to teach them, and the reason why katara only teaching him now is because they just found out that aang needs to master all 4 elements before summer ends, before that they probably thought that aang can fights the fire lord whenever he's ready
Or they thought they had all the time in the world to learn the elements. Before Avatar Roku gave the deadline.
Another episode of Captain Plaannnnetttt! Lol I love you guys
*goes on to steal from a library smh* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I keep coming back to these reactions, you guys are hands down the funniest reactors to this show. Y'all had so much fun with it
13:40 How is nobody talking about how nice that kick was? Sokka’s not the strongest, but he sure has some badass moments
yall gotta do double episodes! i need more!
13:27 damn thats what Korra did with her fight against Tarrlock yeeting him out into the real world.
Y'all my squad me and my wife been binge watching avatar last Airbender with y'all
I will be completely honest and say that my first crush/squish (platonic crush) was Zuko. Especially in later episodes, but still.
If you think about it, Zuko can travel both day and night while the Avatar must land every night for rest. He's not fast travelling at all.
I couldn’t wait for episode 9 solely because it’s the only EVER episode Zuko laughs out loud.
Aang is a quick learner like Goku,it reminds me when Master Roshi use to train Goku when he was a kid and Goku would learn it in a few seconds and it took Master Roshi months or years to master it b4 showing him
I'm so hype I can rewatch Avatar again on Netflix soon. Been a long time
Btw I make funny skits if anyone wants to check them out. Appreciate it.
Ikr. I'm BEYOND excited. Been counting the minutes
Yo wait what its coming to netflix?
@@henrytorres9855 yup may 15th
@@adrianlee41103 same 😁😁
@@henrytorres9855 live action Avatar the last Airbender
Love your guys reactions!! This show will literally surprise you guys, enjoy the ride!
"did she just try to move the boat herself" i didn't even realize how stupid katara was in that part😭😭
You know, Zuko is surprisingly patient in this episode 😂 from his perspective his uncle is just wasting his time going shopping
12:16 funniest bit 😆
7:45 "did he just bend air?
There's nothing I can add to that. It speaks for itself
One cool tidbit about this episode: Zuko's voice actor is Dante Basco, the guy best known for having played "Rufio" in the movie "Hook."
img.cinemablend.com/filter:scale/quill/d/4/9/c/3/1/d49c3185f926442a1d0caa74d756ffe8d1062e03.jpg?fw=1200
The pirates in this episode were all voiced by fellow actors who played in that movie.
I believe the reason why Aang gets the hang of water bending cuz it's similar to air bending. Both are flowy forms, where fire/earth appear more forecful.
What’s funny is that the lotus tile ended up being more important than the avatar in the long-run
I forgot how jealous katora was this episode felt bad for aang cause he still a kid
i love these reactions cause these guys laugh at all the same parts of the show as i do
I love this on rewatch, Katara and Sokka are such awesome siblings.
I mean: iroh going to get the tile led to zuko finding the avatar again. Coincidence or planned?
Iroh is really good at playing dumb.
9:15-Katara be like:I'm supposed to teach you waterbending, not the other way around,so don't start lecturing me!😠
Dude!
“Gimme some butt” yo you had me rollin😂
Air and water are both fluid elements so it’s easy to pick up Earth however is static and the complete opposite of air bending.
FOR HONOR.
and I love their background arts. makes me realise that I need a crap load of practise to reach anyway near that level
Uncle Iroh: "Most people think the Lotus Tile is insignificant, but it is essential for the unusual strategy that i employ."
Yayy ,I was waiting for this reaction, knew it was gonna come
Looking back at it now...damn that Lotus Tile be making cameos throughout the series 😂
@YaBoyRoshi No spoilers but always keep that lotus tile in the back of your mind throughout the series
Roshis “gimme some butt” at 4:18 is my new text alert
13:39 i can't with Aang 😂😂😂
ANOTHER AMAZING REACTION , i love ur guys vids keep up the good work¬!
Can’t wait to see you guys watch more episodes!!!
I was your first watcher I love you guys and your vids so much
Idk if it's connected but both air ang water are light movements and flow with that element. While both fire and earth are heavy movements with origin what those both elements are, like the fire is the energy, and earth is your body/partner/guide kinda
The one time I hear Zuko actually laugh
Aang learning water bending really fast is in part that he is already a Air master not just an air bender. Only the air master get arrow tattoo. So he already haves the basics and the decipline of it, all he needs it the feel and the moves.
Zuko will always be my all time fav char in all animated mediums 👌
3:30 anyone realize what they started forshadowing this early on in the show?
Fire lord is not going to bend the comet, the comet give fire nation a power up on their fire bending skills
Yas please post more soon! tbh dont listen to the comments who call you out for hating on a character LOL its season one thats supposed to happen! people who've seen this before have probably seen it a few times so they've had time to fully digest every episode... hope the die hard fans dont ruin this show for you guys. As someone who used to watch this show when it aired Its so entertaining to watch reactions to this incredible show because its not just a kids show and the amount of creativity that went into the world is really like no other, theres only one filler episode and its one of theeeee best episodes! Not to mention the LEGACY... 15 years strong.... lol no shade but see what happened to avengers end game and game of thrones? good stories good/entertaining plots ...but the ending? no one talks about it..its entertaining but only the main parts are memorable..... with this show you remember everything and its incredible...
Also as a Tibetan this was revolutionary that they even acknowledged the invasion of tibet (air nomads / fire nation) which makes it even more dope!
The waterbenders get a buff when it rains, when the moon is out, and an extra large buff when the moon is full
Glad your enjoying the show
13:16 heart went to the ocean
I love ur reactions 😁
To be fair tho, they’re traveling from one end of the world to another at almost the same speed of a large ship. So, it must take them at least a couple weeks (if not a couple months) to complete the entire trip. Plus, Appa isn’t a machine and has to rest along the way.
In Katara's defense, she hasn't had any formal training.. being the only bender left in the South Pole because the other benders went to Ba Sing Se
waterbending is very similar to airbending as water and air behave in similar ways, which explains why aang is natural good at waterbending since he is an airbender. he is also a naturally gifted bender anyway so he can pick up on things quickly because he has talent
Fire Lord Ozai is voiced by Mark Hamill, aka Luke Skywalker aka the Joker.
