"Oh Aang! You haven't changed a bit!" . . . . . "LITERALLY.?" - one of my most favorite lines from the entire series! (like even the "mad king" is thinking; WTF? How did you pull THAT off?)
when bumi and aang hugged and he went "i missed you aang" that shit always gets me. we just seen how much it impacted aang to learn (well to finally sink in) that all the people he knew are dead. so for him to still have bumi really hit different. edit - another amazing reaction can't wait for the next one.
I forget that the earthbending choreography that they show in this episode is really important because this is the first time you actually see earthbending.
Ah, yet another legendary dude has shown up! Cabbage man is here!! Loved that Aang reunited with a friend he knew 100 years ago. And the crazy dude is a King of all people lol Earthbending is based on Hung Gar, which is a mix of the Tiger and Crane animal styles and utilizes deep, low stances (such as the horse stance), and strong hand techniques. Emphasis is put on having firm, solid stances. The more connected to the Earth one is, the more power they will have. The Chinese character "Hung" is a family name which means "to stand firm and tall with integrity". Overall, it is a style of martial arts focused on strong, balanced stances and powerful strikes.
@@jmb72390 I'm kind of going one by one as they become relevant. Like back in 1x02, I went into detail about airbending. But if you want to know: Airbending = Ba Gua Zhang Waterbending = Tai Chi Earthbending = Hung Gar (there's another variation later) Firebending = Northern Shaolin
I just finished the series last night! Very well done. I was excited to learn last night that there will be a live action Netflix production of Avatar produced and ran by the original creators! And that they won’t be white washing the cast!
Hopefully they keep the nations as they should be fire nation=Japan, Earth kingdom = China, Air nomads = Monks/Buddhists, and Water nation = Islanders. They've spent past 2 years on it so obviously they're taking their time and putting effort into it.
I can't wait until ya get to the beast fighting scenes later on. Avatar is amazing. Fire content as always. I just put up another skit would be dope if anyone could check it out.
The earth kingdom is the biggest country in avatar so it makes it looks like it's more scattered. The second largest is the fire nation. The water tribe is only north and south poles and the air nomads live only in the 4 temples.
What I always found weird is that Bumi is the King of Omashu, but there is the Earth King at Ba Sing Sa. And he (or his advisor) don't seem to have any authority outside of the giant city itself. So is Bumi a vassal under the Earth King or is Omashu as separate entity of the Earth Kingdom and there are several other earth kingdoms?
Each of the towns, cities, and kingdoms in the earth kingdom all have some sort of king or an army leader for whatever earth kingdom soldiers stationed there. But if something is declared by the Earth King or his leading generals, that overrules anything else and enforced by the earth kingdom soldier & etc.
I’m actually about to start watching Captain Planet 🌎 w/ my 8 yr old son after introducing him to the OG Power Rangers...he’s up to Power Rangers Dino Thunder now and still going strong 💪
There's a little Easter egg with Katara introducing herself as "June" Because Katara's voice actress' name is Mae (Pronounced "May") Whitman. Whitman also voiced a main character in the 2012 series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (which is also very much a series worth checking out) who's name is the name of a month: April. So Mae introduced herself as "June" and a few years later went back two months to become "April"
Hey guys just wanted to say that each nation depending on the bending attribute will usually incorporate it in their nation's defense. Like you saw in this episode. Earthbenders bending the walls to get into the city. Also i'm so glad you guys are going to see the tragic life of the cabbage man lol.
The fire nation and earth kingdom live as two large nations taking up the largest continents and islands plus colonies. The water tribes live at the poles and some smaller scattered settlements. And the air nomads used to live in 4 temples scattered across the world. Maybe that helps give a picture. Even before the fire nation attacked the Air nomads and Water tribes lived in much smaller or secluded regions while the Earth kingdom and Fire nation took up the mainland. Much of the fire nation's conquest is taking over Earth kingdom lands. The water tribes probably dont prosper as much since if Aang had died back then. Then the new avatar would have been Water Tribe. And if their past attacks on the water tribe happened to kill the avatar, then the next one would be Earth kingdom. And if they managed to kill that on the next would be Fire nation like the one that came before Aang. Kiyoshi from the last episode was the Avatar before that fire nation one.
Sharika Miller yeah that makes sense toph is greater for being able to see with her feet and she invented metal bending but Bumi is better at actually doing the bending
I think you got one misconception here. For the most part it is true that the nations live seperately, but the air nomads were the exception. By nature they traveled the world
