I have a camry just like this and rhino roof racks. Am wondering, after 10 months since this video was made, how has it held up? I'm nervous about the roof rack weight capacity.
yeah isnt it rated for like 160lbs? @@somelum but i see it holding more than that but i estimate on average two people are like 300-370 lbs combined? plus the tent weight
@@danielking.123 Car roof load ratings are typically "dynamic" rating, i.e. when car is moving. When not moving you typically multiply by 3. Also, don't forget to add you tent and roof rack weight on top of the meatbag weight.
I've got a Hyundai Accent and a 140 lb Rottweiler, Sidekick and I'm truly considering living off the grid...sell my 2500$ living room suit along with my 82" tv..I have been researching a little and I really appreciate your video. It appears to be "Do-able" in the compact cars. I like the tent off the ground style. I wish I would have invented it!! Nifty concept!! I'd be laughing all the way to the bank ;) I was thinking that an inflatable air mattress could be quickly blown up from the solar panels with hair dryer plus take up less room than the 3" foam.. (your wife will ty ;) ...a comforter thrown over the top of it turns it into a 4 star hotel.(no one EVER gives 5 lol) anyhooooo Happy Camping Life!! I look forward to seeing more of your videos ...ty for educating us
not sure if you've found anything yet- but i highly recommend getting an exped mattress. they're pricey, but you can get a thicker and comfier mattress that can deflate and you can keep all the bedding in. cheers man

How are the doors holding up? You’re not supposed to put a tent on those clip on racks since where they are placed can bend the frame and keep the door from closing properly. I speak from experience.

If the mattress is cut into two pieces, you can have a thicker bedding and just stack before folding.
