You know how you can hear a certain song from the cure and it sets you off on a week long binge of that Era? After listening to this show I am binging on all Cure Pornography era music.
Wow! Just WOW! That's all I can say after listening to this performance several times. Usually during the encore, Primary is a song I've heard live many times and it's expected, but not unwelcomed. In this performance Primary explodes out of the gate with a pace so fast I can't keep up with the beat in my head. Robert is singing the lyrics as if he is on trial for his life and this is his statement. Simon is churning out chunky bass chords like his life depended on it as well. Robert's guitar flows in and out of the beat as he dispenses angry lyrics. Primary comes crashing to an end, like a sky diver without a parachute. Just when you think it's all over, Lol starts back up with the pounding of thunderous drums of The Hanging Garden. Simon waits a few bars, as Robert anxiously tries to start the vocals, then all of a sudden simon jumps that train and they are off, as they are all locked together at a feverish pace. I could go on and on like that about this show, but I would definitely need some more of my grape kush medicine. In fact I'm gonna stop here and go smoke because, well, it's now legal here.
God what a great show. I love the sound they used in '82...Just listen to A Short Term Effect on this show, so many swirly echoes, and psychedelia sounds. "An atmosphere that rots with time, Colors flicker in water, a short term effects", That part right there is just the peak of an acid trip caught on tape. Could you imagine dropping acid at a Cure show in 1982? That would be insane as Robert's jazz master would be swirling around your head, in and out of your ears, while the light show swallows you whole and pushes you out, only to be rocked by Simon playing the bass and the organ with his feet, at the same time. I wish there was better video of the concerts in 82 as well. There really isn't any good pro-shot concert footage from the Pornograohy era, and I can't remember what the stage and light show looked like. There is some great studio footage and TV appearances from that era though. The stranges bit is the ballet dancers performing a ballet to Siamese Twins. Robert did a lot of acid back then.
thats my favorite concert of them ua-cam.com/video/WNueX4lzg8E/v-deo.html its too from 1982 and really good quality. too from Adam Other Voices.. thump up...
The entire show is just really good. They were on their game this night. They had the perfect combination of drugs in their systems and they locked together. I'm listening to "Splintered in Her Head" now and Simon and Lol were locked.
Hey Thank You! I visit this Convert in 1982! The Concert was Scary & Darkness!
God this is AMAZING - I absolutely LOVE it

Best Cure album ever :)
I'm doing the same...all the gigs in chronological order
It's like an addiction...even though the setlist are always quite the same
