Good evening. Whatever it's a refrigerator, fridge, ice box, cooler, or beer crisper is all the same thing. Y'all made some amazing meals there. We always try to do the same with whole birds and make multiple meals from one hen. Be over for those chicken and dumplings haven't had them in years and absolutely enjoy that meal. Good Morning,Buddy went right to that roasted chicken, lol I knew he would; but then around 7 - he got a big bowl of dumplings, lol. The left over chicken will now become chicken tacos on Friday, never ever did that cross my mind when he came out with that one. I’m taken dumplings to my sisters house today and share with them while we finish up some paperwork. Ya’ll Have a Blessed Week.

Every time you mention ice box, it reminds me of my dad. Chicken is such a versatile meat! We have finally started canning our one broth instead of buying store bought - such a big taste difference! Have a blessed rest of the week.
Good Morning, yes home canned broth is so much better; but I still love and keep that chicken base on hand at all times. It’s hard to keep a stock of broth with as much as I use it. ❤️
I can’t begin to tell you how much this old woman has learned from you in cooking and gardening. I love how you did the roasted chicken and that would be my first pick too! Which got me to thinking I need to pickup some chicken and add some to my freezer and can some along with the stock. ❤❤ always called it IceBox! Sam’s had Turkeys for $6 after Thanksgiving, I got 2. I bake then boil down bones for stock too. Grew up stretching meals and leftovers…4 brothers and sisters.

Good Morning Ms Melanie, girl he went right for the roasted chicken; but he went back for Dumplings around 7 that night, lol. Oh and I would have never guessed chicken tacos with the left over roasted chicken meat is what he asked for, so that will be supper this evening. I canned the broth yesterday afternoon- ended up with 5 quarts and 7 pints.. ❤️❤️

I grew up with it being called all those things and when Mom 'upgraded' it also got a four-letter descriptor added to it, one that I do not myself use. haha Mom would tell you, never buy a Kitchenaid fridge. ;) (They probably don't even make them anymore.) Love how you separated the chicken before cooking, I've never done that...just cooked the bird then separated the parts. Going to try it your way next time. I've got a pot of chicken/veggie stew going since I ate dairy yesterday and today I have to be nicer to my poor tummy. Hooray for frozen cooked chicken and stock that I was too lazy to can. Since Hubby won't eat veggies I'll reheat the diy Chick Fil A I made him a few days ago. I hope your brother's service is meaningful and healing for your grief journey.
Good Morning Ms Molly, I find that separating the chicken seems to boil it better and give a richer stock. You’ve got me thinking about something - what if fresh vegetables were puréed, froze in ice trays, then add one cube to things like soups he will eat? That way there’s nothing but flavor without the pieces of veggies? My brother before he passed asked Buddy to lead the memorial, there’s only 12 of us left in the family and that includes 5 grandchildren. I’m honored to stand next to Buddy as he speaks the word of the Lord and we celebrate my brother’s life. ❤️

No need to apologize when we understand the grief you are still going through. I make wet dumplings. Fluffy balls of goodness. I use cream of chicken too and a can of Carnation milk. The same way my Granny always made them. I'm making it tomorrow night with the rest of a rotisserie chicken I paid four dollars for. Three meals for us three from it.

My husband always called fridge the icebox. Grandma had one, it was an icebox had a big piece of ice. My Dad was the one who cut the ice out of the pond and his uncle had an ice house. As kids we thought is was a scary building not sure why, was cold in the summer felt great but was dark inside
