Here is what KHE Electronics say about their ampswitchers.
The KHE Amp Cab Switcher is a switching & routing system for Guitar Amplifiers, Speaker Cabinets and Load Boxes.
The KHE ACS enables you to use all your gear in the most efficient way possible: Switch between any combination of amps and cabs, instantly, with a single push of a switch. No more moving heads around or plugging cables. Experience creative freedom and a fast and inspiring workflow. The KHE ACS is the most advanced & safest tube head switcher on the market. Unlock the real value of your amps & gear!
The Studio Rats are core band members Paul Drew on guitar/production/mixing, drummer James Ivey and Dan Hawkins on bass. They collaborate with singers and musicians to produce radio-ready songs.
Their FX line is the one that I like, because it allows you to have a master effects loop for every amp connected to the switcher, and also has a universal loop for attenuator, so you can have one attenuator applied to all amps and cabs. Genius!
Trick is to get two, one for your clean (wet effects) channel and one for your OD channel. Put all your clean amps on the clean KHE, and all your OD amps on the OD KHE. That way you could run them in dual mono and keep on rocking in the free world.
I bought one of these several years ago and absolutely LOVE it! I was getting so frustrated having to rewire things every time I wanted to try a different amp in my studio. Now I can flick a switch and audition amps and cabs until find the tone I am looking for. I have mine set up with an AC15, a 1967 Deluxe Reverb and a 1976 JMP 2203, all running though an OX as well as three cabs (including the combo speakers) so I can just jam in my small studio at a reasonable volume.
I bought a 4x4, but I am kinda wishing I had bought the 8x4... maybe one day I will upgrade. :)
This is exactly what I've been looking for, wanting to run three heads through one cab.
Great video! I love watching a great player, playing through great gear! Well done...
Cheers.
Beautiful riffs!
your playing is always stunning 🤩
Thanks fella.
I’ve done that Paul. I forgot to plug in the amp into a cab, several times. Luckily, nothing happened but one day I won’t be so lucky.
impressive unit Paul , I’ll check them out
That A chord and E chord fingering is insane, but lovely at the same time...
Cheers Mr Bar
That is a seriously cool bit of kit. Useless for Mr Mono Amp here, but i still dig
Very interesting! I also have multiple heads and a torpedo studio so this could be a great solution for my home studio...just curious, how do you connect the torpedo studio to your interface? analog or digital?
Great video. Could you please tell me the model of your telecaster's pickups?
Lovely bit of kit!
Can’t put a price on removing the barriers to creativity eh.
Absolutely
Hey Paul, just wondering is it able to switch from your amp, though the OX box then into the speaker cab for attenuation? Guessin your ox box & 2 note are setup to go to the pc.Would be cool if you could use one attenuator for multiple heads.
Yes you can, and also use the attenuator out to attenuate all of your speakers
I only own one tube amp. I'm still gassing over this 😂😂😂
I’m now wanting to fill every slot, this could get expensive.
Always love the sound of your tele Paul - what pickups do you have in it?
Cheers Jody, you know I’m not sure. I think it’s a twisted tele bridge and some Seymour Duncan neck pickup. I always get asked but didn’t get a traveler sheet with it.
Does this thing automatically adjust ohms?
For example what would happen if you accidentally flipped the wrong combination of switches and had an ohm mismatch… or no load at all ?
It does not adjust ohms but as far as I know it protects the amp. Best to check in with KHE directly and I’m sure he’ll fill you in.
What happened with the Cornell amp you designed? Have not seen this amp in a while
It’s round at James’s house, having captures made for TONEX.
What about using amp effects loops ?
They work as they always did. Amp fx loops are always before power amp stage.
So does channel four go to the Katana?
It will when I do Kat videos
what pickups are in that tele?
I’m afraid I don’t know as I got it used.
oh haha, reason is i just thought it sounded exactly like the ones i have in my tele, a bit uncanny@@TheStudioRats
