FYI. Re Mar a Largo, when Trump created the social club there, it was the first club in Palm Beach to open to Blacks and Jews. To enter, you only needed to pay the fee, so was based on merit. All the other clubs discriminated.
In your opening shot as you pan the beach and follow the road turning left, the grey house with the mansard roof (to your immediate right) was the home of Este Lauder. At 7:37 that was John Lennon's mansion now owned by author James Patterson. John and Yoko Ono used to frequently have lunch at Taboo on Worth Avenue.
I use to work on posh Worth Avenue, Palm Beach. Interesting time. The wealthy were definitely in their own world and cherished being catered to. Then some were so down to earth, one would never think they were wealthy.
I have been to Palm Beach twice. Once I drove a CRV and stayed the day. Second time I went there a year later, I parked in West Palm Beach and rode a folding bicycle all over the place. It was a blast to experience the contrast of wealth. During the day an army goes up there and works at various businesses and lawn care. Usually mid morning you can hear the equipment used in lawn care. Ironically I was always treated nice, and I never had a problem with the Police. If you're middle class and want to go to the beach in Florida, Lido Beach / St. Armands Circle, or Clearwater / Pinellas County beaches is probably a more affordable destination with tons of places to eat and things to do. There is a Starbucks on Worth Avenue, and the Publix is the only one I have ever seen where there is no big green P / Publix name on the front. Ironically on Ocean Boulevard there is a clock tower that is the beginning of Worth Avenue.
My favorite clothing brand, Lilly Pulitzer, was founded in West Palm Beach in 1959! You drove past the original storefront right there on Worth Avenue : )
Another great video, Nick. We have a family friend who lives in that area. She invited us to an event at the country club. Never before in my life have I witnessed such extravagance. As part of the dessert course, there was some item which was served in a glass. There was some sort of brown goo between the bottom of the glass and the plate, which appeared to be used to hold the glass in place and ensure that it would not tip over. My curiosity got the best of me, and I removed the glass from the plate to see what the goo was. I discovered that it smelled like chocolate. So I ate it. That was surely a sign of how lacking in class I was, but honestly, I've never liked wasting food, and it certainly seemed edible. Each guest at that function was given a goodie bag which included, among a bunch of nice things, a bottle of prosecco. Between that meal and the meal we had a day or two later at the yacht club, I began to feel sick. It was simply too much very rich food. It seems my body could not tolerate such a lifestyle. Those bridges between Palm Beach and West Palm Beach are there to maintain the segregation between the super rich and the others. Actually, I found much of coastal West Palm Beach to be very nice, too. It's just inland where we saw the abject poverty it sounds like you will address in your next video. The sock story, I think, really exemplifies just how insulated the people of Palm Beach are from the outside world. It's kind of sad, really. They may be safe there, but they're holed up there and can't go very far from their homes without feeling threatened. Oh, and one year, the Koch family sponsored the New Year's fireworks display there!

I grew up just south of Palm Beach in Broward Co. and me and my friends would drive up coast to surf different spots. It was always beautiful and this is where everyone dreams of living. I can’t imagine anyone saying no to living in this community. This is a American Dream Location. Other states in the USA have places like this, NYC has Manhattan, LA has Beverly Hills, and these are only a few to name. Florida has Palm Beach and Star Island. Now I know I will never see you shoot Star Island in Miami due to there is a gate at the bridge entrance where you’ll be told to turn around and exit, lmao. However, Palm Beach was before Star Island, this was the first exclusive wealthy neighborhood in Florida. The taxes alone would break your retirement fund. Thought that was very cheap until he added one million dollars a year just to maintain them. Believe it or not there are people who live there who came from nothing and worked and dedicated their whole life to making the world a better place for everyone , even you Nick Johnson . Make a video about someone like Rose Blumquist , Howard Johnson or Kemmons Wilson and maybe you will start to understand . The American Dream is still alive and well . Thank God for our free market economey . You still have the oppertunity if you have the balls to take the risk . Rose Blumquist "Nebraska Furniture Mart" is the one you should make a video about . Smartest business woman ever . Or at least Warren Buffet seemed to think so . Came to America with NOTHING and she couldn't even speak english . Go figure . Only in America .
O please! Not everyone can be inventors or become mega entrepreneurs. Stop kidding yourself with this "free market economy" and this "American dream" nonsense. That is not to say that it is not possible that people can't become average income earners or middle-class citizens, despite difficult social or economic circumstances. While luck and anomaly are the exceptions, the fact is that there is, in the US, a great deal of unequal distribution of wealth, and the preponderance of the wealth is bequeathed- and those sitting in the "upper echelons" of society have a significantly better chance at success/the American dream. And, the higher up you are on the social stratification ladder, the less likely you are to acknowledge that the chances of you becoming super rich, when your economic and social conditions are fraught with a litany of challenges, is very low; and it's much easier for you to attain the American dream when your socioeconomic situation is such that it makes success more easily attainable.
Actually if you have a big house, it advertises the fact that you may be rich and that you may be a mark for criminals to rob or worse so I think it is a good idea to have hedges and security.. For one thing, the very bad murders way back some decades ago in California that Charles Manson and his group of followers did to a rich celebrity and some people that were visiting their house was very horrible. Another thing it doesn’t matter if you’re rich or in between who wants to be filmed or somebody standing outside their house staring at maybe the family and their children getting out of the car.
My sister and brother-in-law own 2 oceanfront properties in Palm Beach. They purchased around 30 years ago. My best friend’s family back in the 70’s moved to Tampa from West Palm beach. They lived a very nice life. It wasn’t till years later how wealthy they were. Their house was very nice but really didn’t realize. Seeing pictures of his home in Palm Beach really shocked me. This was back in the early 70’s when it was a sleepy little town. Late 60’s Miami was still a sleepy little town. Still remember the architecture being 40-50’s Art Deco!

@Reverend Boaz part of the reason that all those California cities have an Asian population is because it’s toward Asia across the Pacific Ocean.
Sounds like paradise
I’ll stick with my off the beaten path land near Ocala :)
Interlochen ❤️🔥 where I'll be
My Dad was from LeHigh Acres Fl. and moved to the midwest in the late 60's. He used to tell me stories of how wonderful old Florida was back then. Sadly, I have never been there. Maybe someday.
@@12yearssober I will for sure. Just need to make the time. Still got 12 years before I can retire then It's on!
A video about atherton, ca would be awesome!
You're right!
Also (in Northern California): Belvedere, Piedmont, Hillsborough, Woodside and Pebble Beach.
@@NickJohnson thank you man, I really enjoy your channel, wish I could live in the US and visit (or avoid) all those places you show us.
Good work.
great video Nick very interesting.
Omg another great video Nick! The homes and even the people were beautiful walking around the area. And sadly I can't afford the live there either...unless I start a GoFundMe account, lol JK.
Nick, , thanks for sharing. . I remember Palm Beach, Florida, and their billionaires, very very well from my childhood in Florida. Old money now new money! That's Florida! It's a beautiful, safe place. I was born and raised in the state of Florida. You made a very good video........................................ from the treehouse in the woods today in the Ozarks
@Reverend Boaz really?
@Reverend Boaz troll 🤡🤡🤡
But some day when I win the Lotto, you’ll find me here… I pray every day…. Lmao
I'm just happy someone else uses the term "grody". Thanks Nick!
Love the UNC story nick thx for the great videos u have a great job seeing the country the good and bad
Thanks for watching!
If I was rich, then I wouldn’t want to live where the rich live! Don’t get me wrong. I’ve met some rich people who I thought were actually very nice and down to earth people, but that’s the exception to the rule. Unfortunately, most of the rich are not that nice at all.
Rich people and companies sure donate to the homeless causes. It's not uncommon to see a rich person working at a soup line.
Thank you for making this video. Great video.
Nice video and good interview
I live on Collins/Millionaire's Row, Miami Beach and the prices are the same here; with condos being $400K-$1 million, plus and houses easily $5+ million and above for ocean front, with dock.
@Reverend Boaz so how is this a problem ? Too many Asians if you ask me. Miami and south Florida is doing just fine.
@Reverend Boaz no one wants that in the daily living stay in your own country
@Reverend Boaz why is it lacking Asian population? Nothing against Asians but I don’t see why it’s needed. That’s like saying Skandinavian people are lacking in California. Who cares and why does it matter?
@Reverend Boaz I don’t say their lives don’t matter. I say it doesn’t matter whether they populate a certain area. Florida is nice with them and without them. Like nobody cares if there are millions of asians or zero
@Reverend Boaz well then sorry. I’ll put it correctly. The residents and inhabitants of FL don’t care but researchers and government do.
West Palm is very ghetto. I am here now. Most of WPB is 1950s ranch houses, 3 bedroom 2 bath.
If you're heading north on US1 go check out Jupiter Island
Yeah, they're very rich there as well. I understand Tiger Woods had a mansion on Jupiter Island. Celine Dion also.
@@jacksonmorganfroghin4815 I helped install irrigation at tiger's house, that place is sweet
@@briankraft1938 I bet. Too bad his golf career is pretty much over but what a great golfer he was. He knows about drivers. Why didn't he have a driver that day of his accident? Also if you're Tiger Woods, you can be late! He's still one of the richest people in sports.
Nothing is off limits, we’re all only limited by our mindset
Palm Beach and West Palm Beach are like the 1974 movie *"Zardoz"* except now the Eternals are corporations.
Palm Beach got its name from the 1878 ship wreck of the Providencia and its 20,000 coconut cargo. Now the Sabal Palmetto is on the state seal. Later Henry Flager and John D. Rockefeller, railroad tycoons, build up the eastern coastline of Florida.
Wayback first time crossing the Lakeview bridge driver say the yachts below were one million dollars. Thought that was very cheap until he added one million dollars a year just to maintain them.
The residents would think nothing of flying up to Ocala, Florida, after breakfast to buy a horse or two (one million plus each) and be back for a late lunch. Their pets are worth more than you or me.
Go figure
The hard emphasis on B in billionaires 😂 had me tears
Another winner video....and what a tune, wild buddy....wild.
This channel has the best songs!
I can't even tell u the amount of times me n the boys drove drove from north pb all the way down 2 miami on ocean ave such fun times cant wait 2 come bacc hopefully the skim is firing 🥰
Looking good Nick!! Thanks for visiting my state!! Where’s the Everglades footage?? Don’t get bitten by those pythons!!
Great video
Very nice interview she was very down to earth.
Most interesting vlog just amazing didn't know west palm beach was like this. The rich and famous what a lifestyle. Thanks for taking us along.
Keep in mind those cheap 300k condos have HOA fees monthly well over 1k monthly. You basically get a 1000 sq ft apartment that is 30 years old for 3k month. Not a great deal
I live in west palm beach… the opposite side of the tracks.
I was a Home Health Aid for a couple families… the first patient was an a 89 year old “Earl of England” 21st in line to get to the throne, or something like that… not impressive but the life style way still old money. He had a cook that comes twice a day 7 days a week , made comes 5 days a week 8hrs at a time
And a secretary 6 days a week … yard garden almost half the size of a football field it was amazing 2 story house 5 bedroom and a 1200 sq ft pool house when we travel round round or visit other homes or functions it’s like being in a magazine everyday even on a rainy day… for a boy coming from the ghetto the lifestyle fucked me up big time because now I’m working my hardest to get to this level.
Inspiring. Same boat I feel you!
See if you can get into the ocean reef club In North key largo. That's some money as well.
I never thought this would end up being my favorite video?❤️❤️❤️
Have you ever done La Jolla, CA? It’s pretty rich!
Palm Beach is richer
Very nice area beautiful homes
Hey Nick, have you ever been out to the space coast such as Cocoa Beach, Satellite Beach, Indiatlantic or Melbourne Beach? We are on a bacon strip island, too. Much nicer beaches! Fewer snobs! 😂
I live in Miami nothing beats our beaches
Mark I have not but I know I need to!
@@NickJohnson We have been here one year, moving from Minnesota. I must tell you, what a difference! And I’m not just talking about the weather.
Derrrr. You can go anywhere other than palm beach.
Hmm the highlight of the space coast isn’t really the beaches but definitely less snobs
Great vid again
nick, here I was thinking that port royal and Indian creek were two of the most expensive florida neighborhoods, and your so correct many of these houses are only inhabited for a couple or few weeks every year or so. as one not well known billionaire explained to me, most of these folks dont really own much of anything, the banks own it and they are just making payments but they have to show off driving expensive cars and lots of bling. this one real owner of $$$billions drove a plain Jane chevy sedan to get to his lear jet
Going to Palm Beach in March for a few days. I was hard pressed to find ANYTHING for under 1500 per night. I so badly wanted to stay within walking distance of Worth Ave, but that was not in the cards, so now I’m 10 minutes driving distance and will Uber over.
Love your Tube videos! Great job! ❤️🙂
I briefly worked at mar a lago and during off season I smoked a spliff at the very top of the tower room during the off season one year.
Yooo this just made my dayoff awesome been waiting on this video ever since I found this channel
Oooh your in my Backyard Nick. I live on Flagler 🐬
Loved this video
Mappy funny af 😂
Nice. I worked at Mar-a-lago for Trump when he was married to Marla. I worked at the Breakers. I worked at Cafe L'Europe. I worked for several private families on Palm Beach island. Lots of ultra wealthy work. I enjoyed it. Now I live in West Palm Beach 2 minutes from Palm Beach right over the bridge. I work in a drug and alcohol treatment center helping people get free. I love it. My house is so close to the water, beach, downtown. Bought my house with a large yard for 190k Nick! So happy. Homeless are not bad. Lots of resources here. Homeless coalition, St Annes, Lord's Place. Currie park has a few tents but not a problem as I see it. Thanks Nick.
Surprised you were turned away at The Breakers. Just say you're going to the cafe.
I disagree, all he had to do was saying he was going to the cafe. That's my opinion though
I imagine it was pretty exciting on that poor, destroyed island today, with Mar-a-Lago being searched by the FBI.
FBI is asshoe
Clearly landscaping business is good there !!
never change nick, never change
I was there visiting a friend that grew up in a rich family ,and next door to him was Perry Como's house
Haha this is the drive we would take relatives who visited from PA. After you see it a few times...eh.
Another thing....I really have never seen a neighborhood with so many large hedges that are there for privacy...just me, but I do think it takes away from the beauty of the place. You have these beautiful homes worth millions of dollars and everything is covered in some 15 foot high hedge.
Lol that’s exactly how they want it, make no mistake.
I love the tongue in the cheek jokes on this channel. Love it!
Oh my! What heros!

Rich people: I'm good, what's your problem?
That's nothing compared to Scottsdale and Paradise Valley, Arizona. You need to come out here.
Don't worry they all own big guns/ No one is coming to these properties to ask they give up their guns.
My sister and brother-in-law own 2 oceanfront properties in Palm Beach. They purchased around 30 years ago. My sister had a baby announcement party at Trump's Maro Largo home about 25 years ago. They have the Breakers membership too. Me...I live my modest middle class life. Just vist there for family occassions. LOL
There is LOTS of erosion, near Hobe Sound, they have to truck in sand just to keep a “ beach “…
Sounds awesome! So they know the money game! Good for them! To each is own!
LIVED IN WEST PALM IN THE 80'S WENT THERE A LOT OF TIMES, NICE RESTAURANTS,
Nick got a slick mouth 😃😃😃
Live just south of palm beach in Palm Beach County. It’s a different world. Spent the first 37 years of my life in Waco Texas , so it took some time to aclimate.
Lucky you
@4:51 it's mentioned 12 billionaires live in Palm Beach? Aren't there 8 billionaires in Midland, TX? Seems like Palm Beach would have more
only mainstream bank I ever went into that told me they don't cash checks there,.
@ 7:59 is that a house or a fucking resort? Place is massive!
