  • ** I just realized my timer was going off in the background of the entire video--eek! Sorry about that! I hope it's not too much to get passed and that this flip through is helpful. Here is a look inside of the MFW Language Lessons For Today Grade 2. This program is easily adaptable to fit any learning style and that's why I really like it:)

I can't tell you how many times I paused this video to go check my microwave, air fryer, dryer, washer, fridge, freezer, whatever could be making the beep noise before I realized it was the video lmao. Good video though! Very informative and easy to understand!

Thank you this was really helpful, I was trying to decide whether to add this to our corriculum or not. We are gonna give it a try, it doesn't seem like it takes much time and it would help reinforce LA. By the way thank you for mentioning your timer was going off, I kept stoping the video trying to figure out which one of my appliances was making that noise 😆😒 hahaha duh.😁

OrangeYouGladHomeschool Thanks! It does have a little of that feel. I'm noticing a lot of cross over with so many of the publishers lately. But yes, Definitely a lot to choose from, which is fantastic! Glad you've found the right fit for your family.

Thanks for sharing this video. I am aware that this program is Christian based but I was wondering if someone looking for a secular curriculum can still use this program or is there too much Christian content? Thank you for taking the time to respond back. I truly appreciate it.

You're welcome-that's exactly why I make these videos. I really hope they help other homeschool families in some capacity. To answer your question, I have yet to come across any Christian content in any of the poems, picture studies copy work or even the comprehension questions. If I didn't know it was from MFW I would say it was secular. Now, that could be a positive or a negative depending on how you choose to look at it. Either way, it's a great resource to use especially for kiddos who are not big on handwriting and prefer oral presentations.

@@LetTheMorningBringWord i was wondering, did you end up finishing this curriculum? If so, was there any Christian content? Thank you

In the comments you mention using this curriculum as an element of your morning basket. Is this all the LA you utilize at this age? Plus separate copywork? I'm curious as I try to de-traditionalize/Charlotte Mason-ize my approach to LA, so to speak. :)

Hannah A. (mommyshortlegs) I used this in our morning basket mainly for the picture study and oral narration, so I didn't have my kiddos do any of the copy work. For my first grader this was all I used, without the writing parts because she focused on practice in her handwriting book. For my second grader , she had her own LA. And my preschooler was too young for copywork. With all that said, to simplify things I could have just used this, as is, and that's all I would have used (along with her reading program AAR) for my first graders LA. Even though this is considered grade 2. Hope that helps to answer your question.

Thank you for your explanation! What LA did you use for your 2nd grader, and will you continue this same curriculum in 3rd? I have a rising 3rd grader (and a tag-along Pre-K).

Hannah A. (mommyshortlegs) I have a few videos on the LA my second grader used if your interested in learning more but we used Logic Of English foundations C & D. We're undecided about LA for next year I'm still trying to find the right fit but when I'm settled I'll be making a couple more curriculum videos here in a few weeks.

Oh! We used LOE A and B in Kinder and 1st and it was certainly a time commitment. I'll stay tuned for your new curriculum videos in future. :)

Being new ti the 2nd grade realm of homeschooling...what is needed in addition to this? Spelling, grammar, reading, writing? I’m so confused about language arts!

Seasonal Living Congrats on the new adventure ahead! It is a little confusing at first but you got this!! So language arts consists of everything you mentioned and depending on the level of your child this may be enough for language arts. We used this as a supplement in our morning basket mostly. I would suggest looking into a language arts curriculum that has all the components (reading, writing, spelling, grammar etc.) so you don't have to piece everything together yourself the first time.
Have you looked into language Lessons for a living education or the good and the beautiful or the logic of English foundations curriculum?

Home-School In The City thanks for the great suggestions and encouragement! We really enjoy classical method so I had looked into IEW and First Language Lessons But those seems to be writing and grammar, respectively. I’m wondering what a reading program entails? We tried AAR for kindergarten and didn’t care for it. Thanks again!

Is there a Grade 1 version? If not would this work for a first grader?

MFW 1st grade is still at the learning to read level and has a workbook to go with that, but not a Language Lessons for today, this is the beginning one for 2nd grade.
