Composer Richard Niles blends classical sophistication with contemporary audacity with his new compositions - duets for cello and piano that defy categorization. To play his daring new compositions, Niles has chosen masterful virtuosos. Dennis Karmazyn is one of the world’s most respected virtuosos. English pianist Clive Dunstall is a first call studio musician. Further pushing the boundaries of a ‘classical’ album, two of the pieces, “Only the Beginning” and Niles’ jazz-funk arrangement of “Claire de Lune”, include a rhythm section: Fretless bassist Mark Egan joins British drum phenomenon Ian Palmer.
