ESPECIALLY Backlash imo. Cuz it's right after WrestleMania where there's that lull period and things are barely getting into first gear. Having a nuclear overseas crowd for what is otherwise an ok built show could make all the difference in the excitement going in and the enjoyment of the show. I think Backlash from now on should be exclusively international.
They literally had an emergency warning for how loud the crowd was. * I believe Nick Khan and HHH stated that outside the big 4 PLEs, the B-Shows will be international going forward. Clash at the Castle will be in Scotland, MITB will be in Toronto, Bash in Berlin will be Germany.
Honestly that's dope. Really makes those shows feel like a Major PLE and also makes the Big 4, 5 if you really consider how they MITB has become as big as the Royal Rumble. It's going to make the Big 4 feel even bigger because we us Americans will be getting only those 4 PPV through out the year verses every PLE
They just gotta make sure they aren't glorified house shows and people actually win and lose titles on those shows.
I was there. The main reason why we were a better crowd is that wrestling shows in america are more "family shows" and americans are used to it. In Lyon, we were 12k die hard fans who watch every single wrestling event and know all the songs, wrestlers careers, gimmicks, punchlines, etc...
Even the ref Charles Robinson had a huge chant to honor him. I was crying when we sang Randy Orton's theme or the AJ Styles chant, it's such a proof of respect for these guys who gave us so much of themselves throughout the years ❤
The crazy part is... there was like 12,000 people there.... that's literally Raw and Smackdown EVERY EPISODE... it sounded like triple that amount... we gotta do better bruh😂😂
Could you imagine 70 to 80k there for Mania?

They were chanting "il est vraiment, il est vraiment, il est vraiment phenomanal lalalalala lalalalala" meaning "he is really fenomenal". It is a really well known french song.

When Randy Orton heard the crowd sing his theme, I could see a little tear coming from his eye.
I will admit the better the crowd, the better the matches could be. You can have a match with a poor build, and I bet my last dollar, the fans would make that average match seem like a main event.
That Jey Uso entrance...good grief I was UP 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It inspired by a league of legends French team from e-sport called Karmine Corp, they are really impressive.
In my opinion, many Americans are ungrateful and privileged to have these events yearly. This was nice to see, something different.

As a ‘85 baby I’ve been a wwf/wwe fan since the ultimate warrior days and have heard some insane pops especially during the attitude era, BUT FRANCE!!! That was from start to finish the most insanely energetic crowd I have ever seen!!
And to add this just goes to show how amazing overly spoiled we are as Americans lol. It’s only when our sentimental things or people who are legendary get taken away from us when we finally appreciate just how blessed we are compared to other countries

Bruh, not just WWE or AEW. Look at when football is played overseas. They get crazy.
And not just football, compare basketball crowds in the US for NBA and in europe for Euroleague or even national leagues, or compare american football crowds to Rugby crowds. In nearly every sport europeans bring incredible energy, even for cyclisme events like the Tour de France people go crazy
When Cody came out and the whole crowd was singing it was absolutely amazing to hear and watch
This Friday night Smackdown and Backlash 24 have been my first ever wwe shows and I loved it. THE CROWD WAS AMAZING. I had the greatest luck to be part of a crowd who was into the WWE and loved and cherished every single moment. Not one fan was doing something else rather then joining in the cheering, reacting and entertaining. I am not french myself, but I am so PROUD to have been part of LYON. Love to everyone ❤
As a French, I can only say that it was incredible ! The crowd était vraiment PHÉNOMÉNALE LALALA !
If you want more of that, give us a show in Paris where there are 2 arenas that are bigger than those in Lyon. A lot of us cannot go to the event because there was only 12k tickets and it was at Lyon (1/3 of the french population lives in Paris so not everyone was able to go there).
If you give us a show in Paris at the AccorHotel Arena (20k seats), we can make 2x more noise and if you give us La Défense Arena (40k seats), we can make 4x more noise at least !
Backlash was only an introduction for us as a "thank you" to WWE

International crowds will always be better then the ones in the USA.. They only go to these countries every so often. So when they do go to Puerto Rico, France, Australia, England, Germany, Scotland... those crowds will always be fanatic & amazing to hear, full of energy from start to finish... As Americans, we are spoiled by having so many events rotating throughout the US. Still to me, Best crowd, most hostile crowd for sure, 2006 1 Night Stand ECW... So WWE definitely needs to up the international schedule
In my 48 plus years of watching professional wrestling; I haven't seen a crowd like that the whole event; they had me yelling and jumping on the bed at 55 years old, happy for the crowd enjoying themselves; it was a lot of voice less people the next day; I would have loved to have been in that crowd.....

On the post-show Press Conference HHH mentioned about how crazy the crowd in Italy was for the May 1st show and BOY! let me talk to ya! It was so loud we couldn't hear the Theme Songs so Hunter bring Backlash to Italy next and let's get lit again 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹

I've been watching wrestling since 1985, yes I'm old, and I have to say that crowd at Backlash in France is easily top 5, if not the top crowd I've seen.

I remember the NXT Takeover Brooklyn when Shinsuke Nakamura won the NXT Championship, the NY crowd singing his theme during the entrance and at the walk back to their cars when the show was done
They weren't even just singing the hok for Orton, they sang all of Voices. Insane crowd.

They definitely need to do International shows more. Last year in Puerto Rico was legit lit and this year in France was amped.

Thanks a lot man. What you all did not see is that the venue was packed one hour before the show started and everyone chanted for thewhole hour until theshow started. We cheered long minutes at the entrance of the technical crew, Sabrina, Michael Cole etc. And almost everyone was still in the arena 20 after the show ended.
Thank you to notice that we were on fire at Lyon. I attended both shows. After Smackdown, i was thinking : "Is it possible that tomorrow we make more noise that today ?". Yes we did. It was incredible to be in the crowd. At end of Backlash, i was entirely wet from toes to head like i ran an half marathon (and my voice stayed at Lyon i think).
Frankly, we were on fire because we never had possibility for most of people here to go to US to see a PLE. So, first time in France, everybody was fucking ready for it. HUGE / AWESOME.
some translation of what we were yelling :
After a count of 2 : "Simplement deux" / "Only two". It is a catch phrase from our french commentators.

When a heel did a bad thing : "C'est très méchant !" / "It is very nasty".
Smackdown for Street Profits : "Allez les bleus !!" / "Come on blue !". French soccer Supporter's Song (because french team play in blue short and tee-shirt, we are very innovative 🙂)
When referee did weird count during women tag team championship match : "Michel Bojolé ! " / no translation. It is an imaginary character that is a wrestling referee from a well know french youtuber sturry.
Without a doubt no question I believe that France was on 12. 19 but 12 bonfire like you said from start to finish. We got to do better.

I think if they made all WWE PLE's (other than big 4) exclusively overseas, it would saturate the market. However if they kept it to an average of 5 a year, maybe make one of the big 4 an overseas event once a year, that would be a good balance
It's funny how for such a long time, North Americans (Americans, and even Canadians), have hated soccer. But the crowds at European and South American football events have always been like this. Being a fan of your favourite team isn't just paying for a ticket and making social media posts; being a fan is being vocal at these sporting events. It's natural to sing songs and verses and not just chant your generic "go [insert team name] go". You got single players with their own songs.
But in the US (and even some events ive been to in Canada), you get people mad at you because you're standing up for your team, and "blocking the view" of the person behind you. It's more accepted to yell insults, profanity and even BOO your own team as opposed to chanting and cheering in support from 1st minute to the final minute.
In europe, you got ultras who support their own. They go to all sporting events in their city, it doesnt matter if it's top tier or second division, if it's, professional or U-20; they support their own, no matter the sport (football/soccer, basketball, handball, volleyball, etc). In Canada, we have so many Canadians who act like hockey is the best, and act like they are the best hockey fan because they watch NHL; but they'll never even go watch their local junior teams or local university teams play. Heck, they wont even watch minor league because "they're too good for that; they already watch NHL."
Also their fans are smart & like heels!!

For me it was the best crowd that we had well I was also in the crowd so my opinion may be influenced by that but we were so loud all the time it was an amazing experience for my first sd and backlash and honestly if Americas only got the big 4 I think it will benefits them in having better crowd

I 100% agree they should do every PLE (beside the big 4) outside of the US. The crowds have been wild outside of the US. Except for the Saudi events the crowds aren't too wild there. But Clash at the Castle, Backlash 23 and 24 were all wild. It definitely makes for a better watch at home
Yes the France Crowd was lit but if I had to choose I think Puerto Rico was still a lil bit more live as far as energy but Jey Uso entrance was GOLD!!
