Pretty sure you followed us around and made this list based off watching us! 😂 great tips Alvin!
H ha!
Great points and words of wisdom brudda! I made a dumb mistake a few months back that I will never make again. I planned out a day to fish in my local marsh with my buddy and loaded up the skiff the night before with my 6 and 7 wt setup for some nice slot reds. Well, we decided to pivot and head out to one of the barrier islands while in the truck. I decided to not turn back around and get my 8 and 9 wt setups and that was a dumb mistake lol. We ended up running across a huge Jack in the skinny blitzing some bait and all I could do was look and admire because I had my 7 wt in my hand and did not want to take the chance of losing my line or breaking my rod. I now have my 9 weight with me no matter what lol.
All good advice. Besides sharing my itinerary I also share my smart phone location with my wife. Although it doesn't work in remote out of cellular coverage areas, she can at least follow me to and from my destination. She may only check my location once or twice a day, but seeing my mapped location in the middle of a river or lake she'll know I'm having a good time. 🙂
That's awesome. I'm going to do that.
Dang that’s a good looking skiff! Thanks for coming with us! Great trip despite the weather!
I had a great time!
I see skiff wanderer in there!!! Looking forward to that video.
Coming soon!
After making all of these mistakes I’ve learned, make a list . And not only make a list use it that’s the really important part . Thanks for sharing , someone’s life will be better after watching this .
Thanks for watching.
Timely advise. Was just loading the fly boxes for a week long trip. Stopping to make the list!!
Good luck!
Another one when flying: use AirTags or some other tracking device - especially if you are travelling with expensive equipment! Thanks Alvin!
Great tip!
I have to come and fish with you some time soon. And meet your beautiful family! @@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing
Would like to add one thing when you talk about conditions, being safe is key. People sometimes go out on boats during adverse weather conditions. If the weather is not cooperating, don’t go out. 👍🏽
So true, thanks for mentioning that.
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing 👍🏽thanks for the down and dirty videos bro.
Haha, stupid mistake I did. When Yeti had me out in Houston to do a mural in their store, I drove 2 hours to meet up and fish with a dude and that’s when I noticed I left the keys to my locked rod vault back at the hotel 2 hours away in Houston. 🤦🏻♂️ 4 fly rods, all locked away.
Oh dang man that's a tough one!
Excellent show.
Glad you enjoyed it
Alvin, like it!unusual trip-:)
Another great video with great info and advice. Thanks again!!
Thanks for watching!
Lists -probably the best tip ever if you dont misplace your list.
Easy to bring the wrong reel (line). If you mess it up, at least bring the bigger line! (Loaned a friend a 5 wt rod but accidentally gave him a 4 wt line reel… he caught a 10 lb trout!)
Thanks😉
You are welcome!
I usually forget at least one important item!
Yeah me too.
Switched from my 8w to my 5w and totally forgot to go back and get my 5w reel. Long trip back home then BACK out to the spot. 😤
So painful!
Great advice. Especially letting folks know where you are headed and for how long!
So true!
whats a good 9wt outfit for a low budget?

I have multiple weights of the same saltwater rod model. Took only one rod on a trip…unfortunately it included pieces from a 9 and a 10 weight.
I always send my wife a pin of where I’m gonna fish. Just like going hiking, it requires almost no effort
I have made several of those mistakes before. Forgot a reel. Broke the only rod I was carrying. Didn't buy a fishing license beforehand (knew I needed cash to pay for one) but couldn't find a store selling them so took a gamble and got lucky (although felt guilty). Arrived fishing without checking weather (10 degrees and windy) and ended up having breakfast with good friends. Bottom line, all good advice.
Oh man I feel your pain!
