Thank you. I'm trying cyanotype for the first time and your concise but still detailed video gives me some confidence that I can get some good results.
@@JulianSandro I built a UV box for large prints - up to 24x24 inches. The sort of projector your links lead to is an amazing contraption. I think it might be my DIY project for this winter! Best wishes from Vermont 🍁
Thank you so much for your know how sharing and work you put into this video! Amazing work! Do you have an idea how I could do cyanotype print on bigger canvas? I have an idea to do a cyanotype print on canvas which already have acrylic paint on. Do you know if thay would be possible? I would highly appreciate your opinion ❤
Nice to hear that you like my video. In terms of size, there are several options. The easiest would be exposing the print in sunlight using negatives the same size as your canvas. Although exposure can be challenging with that method, it should still work, if you expose the print until it gets a bronze-like color. The second option would be to cover a large wooden board with UV-LED strips. Similar to the first method this would use negatives the same size as your canvas. The third method would be to build something like an Enlarger using a UV-light source. In my opinion, the best way to build something like that would be from an old Overhead projector. For this method, exposure times would probably be very long but you could use smaller negatives. When it comes to printing on acrylic paint I'd recommend using an emulsion similar to the emulsion I used to print on glass (ua-cam.com/video/81GZpizrJRo/v-deo.html) Hope that helps
I am wondering what kind of china ink should i use to achieve the red effect? the black one doesnt work... I love to experiment with cyanotype. Thank you for the video, Julian! It gave me some new ideas which i will try out.
There is just colored ink you can buy. I had the best result with acrylic-based ink. If the color of the ink is too dark you can dilute it with water. Hope that helps!
Although I haven't used anything other than tea or coffee, all tannin-containing fluids/dyes should work. So try experimenting with pomegranate or cocoa. And please let me know how it turns out!
I use transparent film typically used for overhead projectors. I then use my inkjet printer to print the negative photograph onto them. For more details you can watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/2xqkIqRpMEA/v-deo.html Hope that helps!
Which technique do you like most? 🤔
I see so many possibilities with the masking technique, thank you!
These are all beautiful, but I really like what you did with the glasses. I've never seen anyone do anything like that before.
Adding the ink gave me some new ideas. Thanks.
This is really nice and straightforward! Thanks. 😊 I also appreciate the subtle use of background music, it’s quite calming.

Thank you for sharing the video! Cianotipes technics so simple to achive interesting results.
Toning is most interesting for me.
Fascinating thanks for covering a number of basics - very good choice to satisfy our curiosity
1:12 I'm impressed by your UV enlarger/projector. Wow! 😮
Thanks! I go more into detail about how it works in this video: ua-cam.com/video/-miPEMBJy-o/v-deo.html

Could you use other plant and vegetable based dyes instead of tea

what paper do you use to make the negative photo?
I use transparent film typically used for overhead projectors.

@@JulianSandro alright, noted. thank you for sharing!
what is "washing soda"??
Its also called Natron and sometimes used in backing. The chemical formula is Na2CO3. Hope that helps!
@@JulianSandro isn't that just regular baking soda ? sodium bicarbonate?
what would happen if you skipped bleaching the print on technique #2?
The print wouldn't change color and just stay blue. Hope that helps 😀
это интересно
After you first wash if you want to have that blue really good put in 1 liter water hydrogen peroxide about 2 cups
Are the masks just made out of paper that’s printed?
yes, just standard printer paper
