I remember running from this figure but my sweet girlfriend bought him for me after MMC released the repair kit to go with him. Absolutely amazing figure once that kit is installed.
My only experience with MMC's stuff is Optus Prominon and he's everything I want in a 3rd party TF. He feels solid and really good to handle, then there's this Star Convoy with a bunch of weird build issues and design flaws. Such a weird release based on my time with MMC products.
MMC is, in my opinion, kinda hit and miss. Their best stuff is incredible, but way too many MMC/Ocular Max figures I own have loose joints and stability issues. As gorgeous as Carnifex is, he can't hold up his own gun.
This is unfortunate. I’m a big fan of MMC, and it seems they really rushed this dude out. Really feels like a figure that needed more time in the oven for it to be a great figure. It looks spectacular but it has issues that a finished figure absolutely shouldn’t. Anyway, great review man, can’t wait for the next one.
So I bought this , got the "fix" kit from MMC. But after looking at the pieces for the knees, they weren't any different from the ones that were already installed. I figured the plastic pieces were bent a little from the legs being compressed in shipping. I just extended the legs and laid him on his back for a week and left it alone. They have never been an issue since. He stands perfectly fine.
So @thattoyguy, unfortunately adding floor polish will not help ever either. I have an old crazydevy kit for the g1 Devastator and the ball joint for the hip and leg area did the same thing. The best thing you can do is take a little bit 2 part puddy and rub it on the inside of the head socket and try to tighten the area up that way. Good luck.
I wonder if MMC would be willing to use this as a base for their own take on J-Decker from "Brave Police J-Decker" since that's what Takara did with the original Star Convoy mold
Easy fix Windshield : glue it Turret : inspect the joints and use materials if necessary Head : superglue layers can enhance the size of the ball joint and fill in and make the connection tighter make sure the head is detached and let the joint dry overtime and test it each layer to see your preference and if then just get some hot water to peel off layers if needed Legs : your suggestion actually does look great for the fix as far as I know I haven’t seen the internals other than what was shown in the vid
so... this was addressed. Big guy ships with a pair of knee replacement pieces and instructions on how to do so. if you didnt get those contact mmc, theyve been really good about sending them out. i did the repair on my copy and its perfect now.
Yes I know, I mention such in the video somewhere. I'll get the replacements, but this goes to show that even after the replacement copy has released, you still run the risk of getting one that's a first run (like I did)
i think it was Mangmotion, but they made a video for installing the leg slider replacement parts. it was just some thicker rubber rings to act as springs behind the upper clips. the video had mastermind creations Tesarus and Eris Kultur playing doctor which was kinda funny
For the knee sliders try leaving the legs extended but the figure lying down for some time (a day for me). Eventually whatever was messed up flexed back into position and it has been standing on my desk ever since I got my copy back in 2021. I still have the baggie of replacement parts in the box, unused.
I agree with the figure should have been through a deeper inspection. That heel choice is definitely bogus. I am going to glue mine tonight. Still, give this figure another chance because he is really freaking awesome.
i actually kinda like how disconected the front of the alt mode looks, though its not neccesarily for a good reason. i like how goofy it looks, its like a little gremlin truck with oversized guns tasked with towing the rest of the abomination in spite of its negligible wheelbase clearly not being up to the task
The leg sliders clip into place on mine. They didn't when I first got it, but I left them extended for a day or two and then they were fine. Granted, yours has probably been in the box for 2 years, so yours may not. I have no issues with the head on mine either.
The knee fix resolves the leg issue. Not sure much can be done about the head aside from throwing some blue tack inside that head. MMC really fell down on this one, and their stuff is usually top shelf.
Remember that 3rd party bootleg Menasor you bought a while back? I also bought it. And at this moment it is in a brief case. In my basement...in pieces...200$ wasted...this video gave me those vibes
What I really want is a good version of Star Convoy and Powermaster Optimus/super god ginrai in the chug scale that don't require hundreds of dollars in discontinued upgrade kits and sourcing the Japan exclusive versions to work
The moment I saw it had leg sliders I immediately facepalmed. Doesn't even seem like a smart idea for the long run if they did function as intended anyway!
Design looks great, but dude skipped leg day which really sucks for the high end price. With some basic retooling I can see Hasbro's Armada Prime as a Legacy Star Convoy.
Peagh's name is pronounced pew like pew pew (laser gun sound) I remember he did a vid way back that addressed that but people continue to say it wrong lol
Honestly figures like this kind of make me glad I've never hopped on the third-party train. I mean I know there are good 3P figures but like, if I buy a Hasbro figure that I end up not liking it'll usually set me back like...$50 at most (unless we're talking about a Commander or a Titan), but if I'm spending Masterpiece level money on a figure that ends up like this...yeah...
Mp Optimus is damn near 500. Mp stars team is near 300. Comparitivly, 3rd party is better objectively, and they don’t skrew you over as often. A lot of, actually most of 3rd party are great, and only like half of the shit has to makes is decent. I hate people like you
It's why it's always best to buy them after release to see what the reviews are and checking the history of the company. Only have 2 bad 3P purchases and it was when I pre-ordered from a company with known poor transformation clearance and another cause I didn't look up if it was well received or not. Every single other one I've gotten has been bangers.
Saying this figure looks cool would be an understatement! But, those legs (& head) 😐pain, I feel bad for both you TTG & Star Convoy! His bot mode is sick......looking! & the truck mode also looks cool, but why does his cab nose look so short? 3:02 Hey, its Short Convoy! 😂 Also, is Star Convoy from anything specific? I never heard of him, so I'm asking. But, it would be cool if Hasbro could make a Leader or Commander Class Star Convoy, but they would probably rename him to something like Star Prime, or something.
Bought at a convention just to store in a box. Yeah, I'm not a fan of that. Furthermore, there is not a single redeeming factory with this toy...alt or bot mode
Bro I think you just got bad luck when picking this one, mine has none of these issues 😅 only problem mine has is that the one ear fin doesn't stay stuck out
This is a first run which had all the problems (minus the loose head that's a my copy thing). Later batches had all the issues fixed, but the purpose of pointing out all these first batch issues is because I got this very recently and I still got a copy with all the issues
For me those small fake wheels on arms don't belong. And truck mode doesn't look like Star Convoy truck. IT looks like something from IDW or other cybertronian modes.

When Optimus said "one shall stand, one shall fall," this isn't what he had in mind.
Aaaaaah! Ya beat me to it.
LMFAO 🤣
“One shall stand, one shall ... lean to one side and then fall.” ;P

It's a real shame. MMC usually puts put really good figures.

I own Terminus Hexatron, and I can tell you MMC is overrated.
Their Tarn is great though.
@@mechgouki7999If Mmc is "overrated" then so is Fanstoys

Could be a QC issue. I'd contact the retailer you ordered from or MMC directly. Explain whats going on, and request a replacement figure.
Aside from the head being super loose, basically every version of this figure suffers from these problems.
So watching this, I realize that RiD15 Optimus Prime would be a pretty good base for Star Convoy. He's got loosely the same design.
Another reason to buy the Legacy Evolution Armada Prime
Best buy of the year so far
Yep
waiting on my Amazon preorder. Sept freaking tember
And the gen selects one
That’s not even the same design, what? 😂
“It’s really loose at cErtain angles”
I feel for u bro
Can see the influence the design had on Armada Prime
notice the big gap between the two halves of the head. pretty sure the loose neck is just a qc issue on your copy

They are very different, this idea is impossible.
To be fair the lack of paint is more of a good thing less of a chance of paint chipping
Easy fix
Windshield : glue it
Turret : inspect the joints and use materials if necessary
Head : superglue layers can enhance the size of the ball joint and fill in and make the connection tighter make sure the head is detached and let the joint dry overtime and test it each layer to see your preference and if then just get some hot water to peel off layers if needed

Its a shame tho maybe if another company made a kit to fix all the issues maybe just maybe itlll be fixed
Put a little bit of a paper towel into the
Head. The friction will help with the ball joint

A shame, the one we got from Hasbro was a pretty poor retool of POTP Optimus

You're about a year late. MMC already issued replacement ratchets for this figure...
Did you buy this second hand?
If you watched the video I stated that I got it at a con brand new and I know about the replacements. I just don't have them yet.
