as a fan of the japanese TF,i like how hasbro give an attention to the obscure japanese characters,especially with the fact that return of convoy is one of the most obscure pieces of media ever
this thing is completely gimped by being a remould of a completely different prime, though a modern commander class version could work better (now thinking about it they could remold legacy motormaster as him if they fold the panels around his limbs)
I love my Star Convoy, I put the big useless guns that come with the Nemesis Prime spoiler pack on his arms so he can even more turrets. The added bonus is that you can pretend they're the roof cannons in the trailer mode so you get closer to that G1 silhouette.

I find it amazing that, even with all the modern engineering and techniques, the G1 Star Convoy is still a much better figure. Much like the G1 Powermaster Prime being a much better figure than PotP Prime. Where did we, as a society, go wrong Gavin?

I have the Nemesis version of the original mold and love it despite the glaring flaws but it's crazy how after this the next mold made for Optimus would be the awesome siege mold which we're still getting reused engineering out of.
I love Optimus prime, especially Star convoy, and I hope that they find a way to try this again. It’s a solid design, and Mastermind Creations got it down pretty well! I hope hasbro doesn’t try to localize the name though. Star convoy sounds so much cooler than Star Optimus Prime.

Though the truck cab suffers a lot because clearly it's meant to be Orion Pax (which, contrary to _this_ figure, is quite _good_ !), the _PotP_ not only has the fantastic idea of putting his earlier self inside, but doubles as homage to _G1_ Powermaster Optimus Prime (hence the base mode and deliberate trailer panels on the arms). Alas, if only they'd made an Apex Bomber to go with, we could have had the full meal deal. For those who do not have one yet, _please do not_ allow the low-tier Star Convoy conversion (and Gavin's review of it) ruin your appreciation for the original _PotP_ Optimus Prime figure!
Hmmm looking at it - Beachcomber was nice! Slash is very good! Battleslash/Roaddtrap are good once combined Terrorcons were decent enough, kinda maybe.

Takara/Hasbro screwed up badly with the order they did these more obscure primes. The PotP mold would have been perfect for a powermaster Optimus The CW Leader mold would have been perfect for Star Convoy the Siege Leader mold would have been perfect for RiD 2001 Optimus.
