Welcome to BookTube, Shrikant! I agree that Malazan can help us to develop as human beings, as can engagement with all sorts of great literature. I love that you read mythology and philosophy too, and I agree with you about their spiritual connections with fantasy. Vagabond should be conducive to some good philosophical discussion. My very best wishes for the beginning of your channel in 2024 - it’s excellent to have you here!
Thanks Philip! I am happy to be here. I am looking forward to future chats and cooperation. I know you have a lot to do but I hope we can make it possible during 2024.
Hi and welcome to Booktube! Malazan is my personal favorite series so far on my lifelong reading journey and it is always great to discuss the books. House of Chains f.e. made me a real fan of Cotillion and elevated him to one of my favorite characters. I think we can learn a lot about compassion from the series as a whole, but also from the Rope as a character. I'm reading Fantasy for more than 30 years now and I think one of the main attractions for me is always the sense of wonder. The ideas and the imaginations of authors, but also to think about why the create their worlds and societies in the way they do. Fantasy as all genres of speculative fiction helps us to ask important questions about the human condition, living in and as a society and, as you mentioned, spiritualism. And I think that fantasy creates safe spaces for these questions and thought experiments that might be too controversial for some readers, if they were just asked in a contemporary setting. So we disconnect, overemphazise some elements that we want to discuss through world-building, so we can then reconnect to the issue from a position that enables us to be a little more unbiased than we were withouth that step. That's one of the aspects why I really love the genre.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree with many of them. I am looking forward to see more comments from you and discuss in relation to future videos.
It’s awesome to finally see a face and I’m very excited for you channel! I loved your thoughts and takes on twitter with Malazan book of the fallen and it has helped on my journey through the series. Cheers!

@@thenostalgicdragonbooks Sounds lovely!
Hello. Welcome. And let the war of the dragons commence. 😁😁
Thanks! Indeed :) A nostalgic one seems weaker on paper than a critical one. But you never know...
@@thenostalgicdragonbooks All dragons are wily, you can never underestimate them.
