🔑 Craig Ferguson is a legend. Watch how his deconstruction of the genre, genuine empathy and fantastic improv skills cemented his legacy as one of the best hosts in the business.
🙏🏻 Special Thanks to TheJayLenoFly, Nerdwriter1 and Charisma On Command for their brilliant coverage of Craig on UA-cam - highly recommend checking out their channels - Розваги
I was dealing with the passing of my Beloved Momma in 2009. I went through months of being unable to sleep . As if by divine intervention, I stumbled across the Late Late Show with my Sweet Craig Ferguson. He literally made me laugh out loud before that was a saying. His laughter and genuine personality made you fall instantly in love with him. When he announced the ending of his show, it was absolutely devastating. He had gotten me through those dark days of grief and I still wanted his laughter in my life. Thanks UA-cam for allowing me to watch his reruns and once again "LAUGH OUT LOUD " Love and Miss You my Dear Friend, Craigy Ferg ❤❤❤❤
Please make more. This man got no recognition in the late night community. Thanks to The JayLenoFly and other youtubers we got to know this gem.
Why do the geniuses never get the recognition they deserve
Man! JayLenoFly has given me HOURS of laughter!
Ferguson was a genius in his own way. He was one last things I every cared about on broadcast TV.
Ferguson was the best since Carson went off the air and that's a fact, He was better than Letterman or Leno. Authenticity is always appreciated. Beautiful video, thank you for it
Craig's so-called interview is really just like a daily conversation in a pub, very natural, relax and genuine. And you can't talk about the success of Craig Ferguson's TLLS without mention Josh Robert Thompson, who not only is the voice of Geoff Peterson but also did the voice impersonation of some celebrities like Morgan Freeman. These two are amazing.
You put a bit of a tear in my eye dude. I discovered Craig's show through clips on UA-cam during 2020 and during that insanity, loneliness (I live in a different country from my family) and uncertainty, this wacky and totally wonderful show made me cry laughing when I really needed it most. Subscribed.
Yep, at the time Jay Leno Fly started his channel (with all the compilations) I stumbled upon the madness of the Late Late Show.
I then rewatched everything that was available during a period where I was (in hindsight) battling a crippling depression. I'm pretty sure there's dozens of days where Craig and Geoff saved my life with their ever so repeating antics.
Learned a lot, laughed a lot...lived.
bruhhh... i was just missing robin williams then accidentally stumbled upon all this sorcery. craig is definitely something
@@mojobalaos5611 keep watching, he's done this show for a decade...he's pretty exceptional.
@@Snaakie83 whoa.. I'm sorry to hear. But I'm glad Craig and Geoff were there to help you!
Craig Ferguson is the unspoken , secret king of late night tv shows
why would I watch late night tv today when I can watch Craig's show on UA-cam. it's therapy. After all, tomorrow's just our future yesterday.
100% agree. Best mood to be in when you went to bed after his show. Nothing like it around any more. "It's a great day for America everybody!"
This is a wonderful homage ... truly miss this show. I did enjoy Dennis Miller's brief run of a "talk show" back in the early 90s ... Craig is brilliant with his quick wit and smooth conversational skills. Humbly, from this true fan of artistic media genius, thanks Craig!!!
I still rewatch his stuff and I actually sight him as a reason in my darkest last 7 days before getting sober from alcohol - his speech about his honesty before he got sober lead me who is someone very much like him in temperament to finally accept who I was, be ok with it, accept that I have short falls in the darkest places in my life and just pt my hand up and say "Yes, I struggle, im broke and im not fixed but right now im getting better".
I might never meet him but thanks Craig, honestly.
Sober since 08/11/2019 - Now studying pre-med to be a doctor - regularly see and use psychology and philosophy to keep myself honest and in check but mostly im thankful everyday now. Every - Day - Now.
one word only….because Craig is INTELLIGENT
He finds humour in most things and can effortlessly slip that into normal human conversation putting his audience and guests comfortably at ease. He doesn't talk down to us and can also find empathy with average audience members. Britney Spears was NOT a surprise to me at ALL!!!!!, I've seen internet threads deconstructing how to speak to the opposite sex WITH EASE !!! Turing his interviews into MASTERCLASSES in how to speak to the opposite sex.
......... and The ladies seem to love it!
Craig’s statement about Britney Spears was simply awe inspiring as he captured the hearts of many with the truth of experience and that statement made me cry because it was the truth that came from the heart. We love you Craig Ferguson and your antics with Geoff will be missed 🥹😢
Spot on, my friend. I am genuinely prepared to pay a simply absurd amount of money for Blu-rays of his show, if cbs ever wises up enough to make them.
That show was so unique, I never missed an episode. What Craig and his group managed there was a gift.
This is a lovely critique of Craig and how late night TV didn't really change despite his shining example.
Maybe not late night was changed but I think the culture of media has changed a lot in the direction ever since his Britney Spears monologue, and it was the seed of online entertainment in terms of podcasts, in that way he's a pioneer of sincere modern media on an outdated platform on late night
Craig is the best talk show host ever. He did things in a different way because he is a comedian who needed to enojoy himself all the timeand he has said a couple of times that he found boring sometimes the regularity of lat night shows, thats why he came out with some original ideas like the talking puppets, the robot skeleton as his sidekick, the musical bits, the intro talking to the audience. All that with no band and no buget compared to other late night hots. And plus, he was certaintly the best conversationalist. He barely talked about what the guest went to promote, he just had a natural conversation with them, which is always refreshing. Anyway, i love him, i hope to go see him live soon, he's doing an stand up tour right now :)
Don’t forget the dancing horse!
Jimmy is a joke. BUT the interview between him and Bradley Cooper is legendary and genuinely hilarious. Maybe it’s the language barrier but they both have real giggles there.
I still rewatch a lot of his clips on YT. I loved his show when it was still on the air. Like wayyyyyyyy before Geoff came along. I loved how he would have up and coming actors, and writers that people weren’t familiar with but still made the conversation interesting and funny. Thanks for this video.
I haven't watched late night TV since Craig. I miss his show. I actually went to a taping once, I'm glad I did.
well said. Craig was, without question, the best LN host we've had the pleasure of enjoying. A master at his job.
Geoff Peterson wasn't a sidekick for a decade. He was introduced 5 years after the show started and stayed until the end. 2010-2014. That's 4 years.
Thanks for pointing it out Joe :D
Craig Ferguson made Late Late Night show worth watching.
When this show went off the air, there was a tangible sense of loss like the death of a loved one
Absolutely love this video. I’ve always thought time would judge Craig’s late night run as one of the greatest ever. It’s nice to see you showing him the love he deserves.
The authenticity that craig and russel bring is unmatchable. But we can strive for it.
Craig was a delightful pioneer in the late night landscape. I've seen nothing like him on TV.
I loved watching Craig. Ripping up the cue cards right in front on the guests, and having a genuine conversation with them was fantastic. There were times when it didn’t work (RDJ), and times when you didn’t want it to end. No talk show host since has come even close.
I was not sent a link, but historically I have watched Craig Ferguson YT videos. Maybe that's how I got here? I also just got off a little stand-up comedy kick tonight, which might have brought me here? Unclear, but I really enjoyed your piece on Ferguson, and I agreed with you 100% the entire way.
Good job, good content. Thanks!
Bravo brother human!
Wonderfully truthful testimony.
All that is left is to muster a consolidated grass roots movement that beckons Mr. Ferguson back into our daily routines.
We leave for him to decide what he will do there.
It’s always a delight to watch people talk about Craig, thank you for that, nerdwriter was my gate for Ferguson world. ❤
Wow... With only 21 subs, the algorithm has chosen you? That's some great fortune. Best of luck brother
Craig was by far the best late night host of all time.
Craig and Geoff are the best TV comedy duo of all time
Vey well done
Very good tribute to a well worthy show and man
I'm here by the power of the almighty algorithm. Thanks for this reflection and call for authenticity through the absurd.
Thanks for this. I loved Craig Furgeson’s show and I miss him terribly, for all of the reasons you mention. His genuineness always shone through and we could see how he affected his guests, as well. I hope he is enjoying his new life!!
Unfortunately, I didn't become a fan until after he left the show. I watch UA-cam clips almost everyday, and he did it better than any of the other modern hosts Letterman and Carson were in a league of their own). You hit Craig's intent right on the head. Great video!
That was a well presented piece on Craig Ferguson...He was the best at late night and I miss his honesty and comedy to this day...I do not watch late night tv anymore because of his departure from it and the entertainment industry is much less now that he is gone.
I used to stay up so late watching him. It was only on during school nights
I miss that dude. I watched every fergi show. One of a very special talent. 70 here
Craig Ferguson was the best talk show host ever and still would be if he was on today period, full stop.
Craigy Ferg is the King, forever and always. No one in late night will ever come close. Neither before let alone after him.
Compski absolutely nailed it. Craig took Late Night entertainment with him when he left. And big credit also to Josh Robert Thompson (Geoff). The chemistry between those two was comedy magic. There is absolutely nothing funny about Corden, Fallon, Myers, Kimmel and Colbert, except their lack of awareness that they are not funny.
Hey man this was great. Craig Ferguson show reruns got me through 2020.
got chills watching this
Bravo. I had no idea others saw the show as I do.
Craig Ferguson, GOAT. Period. Full stop.
And after almost 10 years without him, ol' Craigy Ferg is coming back with a new late night talk show with Sony Television for syndication.
Craig was the best. His were the only celebrity interviews that I would watch, all the others are just vapid.
Craig Ferguson is by far my favorite late night host. I think Seth Meyers is getting a little more of the "F*ck it" attitude that Craig had since the pandemic but I don't think Seth will ever get to the same level as Craig.
Excellent take.
Craig Ferguson All Day 👍🏻
Make this video longer please
Absolutely agree with all of it. Great job!
Excellent critique and commentary on the best tv show host of all time. I rate Graham Norton very highly as well, but the format there is different.
Very very well put together homage, friend!! Loved it! You have some talent yourself.
Shabbash mere bhai!
Craig is my favourite Comedian ❤️💜
He is so spot on. Late night sucks since he left
Great video 👏
Out of all the useless talk show hosts today, there was only one with such original content with just plain intelligent silliness and humour that it was actually quite brain stimulating to the point of making me almost pee in my pants from laughing so hard and so much. Craig Ferguson's late late night talk show was the supreme of the supreme. He is/was literally the best. Wish he would come back on Late night. Today's hosts are boring and have the same repetive B.S.
The most real talk show host ever
Spot on assessment 👏👏👏
I've long since been unable to articulate why Craig Ferguson was my favorite talkshow host, but you put my feelings into words beautifully! I'm subscribing in hopes that I can see more content like this!
WONDERFUL....Thank You
I think some UA-cam channels like JaylenoFly made him famous even after it eneded
I gave up on TV years before Craig was hired and when I heard some Scottish guy was hired to host Late Night I remember thinking how desperate the broadcast networks had become. Craig's UA-cam clips proved how wrong I was and made me regret missing it while it was running.
@@Fadamor Oh man, sometimes I wish I had seen some of his earlier shows from 20065-2007/8 which are not available in UA-cam
Not all heros wear capes...
Craig wore a smile and a chuckle.
I just loved watching Craig, and was sooo upset when he retired from TLLS. I'd have had his babies
You put together a beautiful video man. You've captured what i believe many people felt/feel of him. Good job.
Woah! Such an clear take on the scripted Late night shows and those irritating fake laughs! Great stuff, keep em coming compski !
Great Story Telling Brother!
Thanks for watching!
Well done, sir.
Craig ❤
Craig Ferguson and Josh Robert Thompson are the best! Each has gone on to do a lot of fun stuff. Doubt they could get away with it now, but would love to see them try.
Spot on man! Good job OM the video! !
You nailed the crap to the church wall. Ty
I like the form of content, I like your promotion, keep it up, you’ll make it ❤
Glad you enjoy it!
Recovery from alcohol addiction + Jung saved Craig's life. I have no addiction but Jung saved mine. I miss him.
Thank you
HE WAS, IS & will BE best late night king
He's an effing gem is what he is. Him and Graham Norton. Two diamonds in the rough
Craig Ferguson Adn Conan O'Brien are dearly missed
I miss Craig Ferguson on the late late show. Late-night TV has been nothing but crap since he chose to leave the show.
Furgeson Rules
Short of a handful of musical guest I wanted to see, I stopped watching late night shows when Craig stopped being on air!
He was the epitome of a bookend!
Nice use of the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band
AND he was in Red Dwarf, so... WINNING
Well, he was the best, wasn’t he ? Craig Ferguson, of course, I mean. He had no equal - none at all.
Who?
Not sure how you can say Craig changed Late Night forever when you START OFF with clips from other late night hosts that were recorded well after Craig was off the air. In the first minute of this piece, you contradicted the title of this piece.
To simply be a revolutionary is to swim a different direction, that does not mean that you will succeed in getting the other fish to follow.
To start a revolution is not necessarily as seamless process. When Mark's thought about changes to pure capitalism and invented socialism it was not a direct and immediate change nor was it a success, but it did change the world significantly .
The true revolution was in the subtle changes that those thoughts led to. Things such as caring for your employees having safe workplaces, and as necessary having government or other social organizations compel those changes.
Thus we have the socialism of social security insurance, the security of having emergency hospital services available to all, the general insistence that we recognize when society or government fails to protect people who are unable and not empowered to help themselves.
Therefore as setting a sterling example of how you can have a good show without the smarmy obsequious banter and cloying kiss ass of the standards, you can have for a brief moment at least a stellar example of how to do different, or shall we say, better.
What's worth noting, and Craig has explained it many times in interviews, is that he was in a unique position in TV history. Letterman owned the time slot that followed his show, and Craig worked for Letterman, not for CBS. As long as Letterman liked what he was doing, he could do whatever the hell he wanted. No other talk show is in that position, so it's not really an apples-to-apples comparison.
@@peterbarnes3121 My point is that to "change something forever" includes the time immediately after. There's no period where nothing has changed because the time immediately after is included in "forever". Think of the old usages: "forever afterwards" or "forevermore".
Your accent seems a mix of Indian and Scottish 🤔
Your title says "changed" and then list how every single late show still onky does political commentary, like they've always done in that format
The real truth about Ferguson's 'Late Late Show' is that he got a blank check to do whatever he wanted because David Letterman got to decide what kind of a show follwed his Late Show, and he liked Craig. Without Letterman we would never have had Craig
What the title should say is, "How Craig Ferguson got to be the late show outlier"
doofy dook!!!
He's not that different from the rest of them
Should’ve hired a narrator but great video essay
