Thanks for the kind words, I'm honored! Wow... you really did your homework... I'm not worthy :-) Glad you enjoy, keep up the good work!
@@HalfLifeSistah You're very welcome, my pleasure! Looking forward, thanks again :-) Hugs from Holland!
Arjen Anthony Lucassen I really hope you come to Mexico to present Ayreon. There is a huge number of fans who are looking forward to listen to this amazing show. From the deepest part of my heart I hope you take this into consideration I am a big fan of your band. Greetings great man...
Love you Arjen :D This is such an awesome track
@@arjenanthonylucassen7668 you are the man Mr Lucassen! I have you listed in my fav bands of all time with the Beatles and AiC.
Arjen, THANKS for the marvelous world of Ayreon!!!
You present this not as *another* reaction, like most others do, but instead you lay the focus entirely on the song you're reacting at. I can't stress enough how much more visually pleasing it is. Others could take your shining example.
:) Thank you, love ♥
Oh my lawd, i've been waiting for this!!!
Definitely worth the wait!
Awe, I hope you enjoy beautiful! ❣️
Thank you, love! 🤗❣️
I'm surprised you haven't translated this yet...
FINALLY!!!
I was hoping so long to see you react to the worlds most amazing musical project.
Arjen Lucassen is genius in all belongings. I follow him and his projects for more than twenty years now.
The way he chooses the voices for the charcters of his stories is amazing - from the best well known singers to incredible talents...
So I found Floor Jansen in 2000 by hearing her on Ayreons 'The Universal Migrator' - and followed all her steps as singer ever since.
I'm very excited about the new album 'Transitus', which will be released this year - just by the few names of involved guests we know by now.
Thank you so much for this amazing reaction! I still can't believe the talent assembled for this song. James LaBrie (Dream Theater), Simone Simons (Epica), Nils K Rue (Pagans Mind), Russell Allen (Symphony X), Michael Eriksen (Circus Maximus) and my personal favorite, Tommy Karevik (Seventh Wonder and Kamelot)! The others are equally mindblowing! Sistah, I really love how you feel the music. We relate on that level especially! Wolfkain, I really appreciate how you do your research before these reactions, very educational and you've taught me a thing or two lol. You guys are definitely my favorite channel!
Hi, beautiful! ^_^///
This song is beyond amazing, right?!
I love Ayreon. I am still in awe by this gentleman!
Thank you for your love and support! ♥
@@HalfLifeSistah Oh but of course!! :D LOL my tears started flowing with the flute part at the beginning!
Omitting Blind Guardian's Hansi Kürsch (founded in 1984 as Lucifer's Heritage) hurts me a little bit. They have a lot of Tolkien related songs, of which "The Bard's Song (in the Forest)" might be the most known. They are a staple of german metal and basically every german metalhead can sing the Bard's Song and Valhalla from memory ;)
@@caligo7918 I didn't include Hansi since Wolf already knew who he was and what band he came from. I really like his work too. :)
This is the only reaction channel that always seems to evoke an emotional response for me and I LOVE it. Thanks for doing this.
❤️✊🤘
I take it you haven't watched the Ayreon Universe concert, but I love how he deploys Floor as the ultimate special effect at the end of songs. Respect where respect is due. :)
Mike Mills is just great.
You made me happy :) ... I am ashamed myself, I listen to metal for like 25+ years, I know "all" the best bands our there. Including things like bands basically never reacted by YT people, and I mean amazing bands like (Rebellion, Celesty, Majesty, Rough Silk etc), but I heard for the first time Ayreon (this song) like 5 weeks ago. I absolutely loved it, and I thought "ok, one song is good, I ll check more"... since then I heard first 6 albums he made, watched all 3 live shows ... and I dont listen to anything else now! I fell in love with Arjen's universe!
Songs like Castle Walls, And The Druids Turned To Stone, Day 16 - Looser, The Valley Of The Queens, etc etc etc...
Give yourself a present, watch Electric Castle live, I mean full, you don't need to react, just watch, enjoy.
Arjen deserves it! Can't wait for TRANSITUS
Awesome! I love Ayreon. This project its one of the best things that happened to Prog Metal in recent years. You should check The Human Equation, its a masterpiece!
I think Arjen often gets better performances from the vocalists than they do for their own bands. He knows just how to use each one’s talents.
Also, please check out more Mike Mills/ Toehider! My favorites are How Do Ghosts Work, and This Conversation is Over. Mike is also a multi-instrumentalist and plays all the parts on Toehider albums.
Yes, James Labrie sounds awesome here
Some, maybe.
Never fails , I always leave these reactions having learned something. Great work keep it up . 🤍
That was a great and emotional reaction
I always love your reactions, I dont know how old this reaction is being from the archive, but I'm so glad you cracked Ayreon, one of my favourites. I'm not sure what you've already checked out but I hope you do more, this is a massive universe that goes to some strange places (Dragon on the Sea, Chaos, Nature's Dance, Voices, Love, Disclosure, Ride the Comet, all different, all absolute slay me any time I hear them.) but it's worth the journey
Not too old, we shot it in January. Much more on the way ✊🤘
@@WolfKain that's fantastic to hear, just joined your patreon to delve into the archive.
I like you guys, always informative and curious.
Greetings from the Netherlands
Joost was in After Forever with Floor. Ed Warby was in Anneke Van Giersbergen's band VUUR. Tommy Karevik is in Kamelot.
Ayreon have a new album coming out - TRANSITUS. The narrator is former Dr Who star Tom Baker. It also has Simone Simons, I believe.
AND Joe Satriani is doing a solo on the album.
Ed was the drummer of Gorefest, legendary Dutch death metal band.
and Michael Mills and Tommy and several others he is doing teasers at present! It sounds pretty damn good!
Tommy Karevik has a role too, Amanda Somerville will be featured as well.
I was so excited to see Joost I saw AF when I was 18 (I'm 32 now) because my friends band were supporting, which meant I got to go in early help out a bit watch rehearsals etc and I remember Joost as being very sweet and smol and it was just really really nice to see him pop up in this
Love to see Ayreon get some love. I consider "The Human Equation" the second greatest album ever written (next only to "The Old Man and the Spirit")
YES!!
wolf i love the how you learn every thing about the artist and the songs....im the biggest nightwish fan but ayreon knows how to make songs
Arjen is an uderrated genius and should be lauded imo as one of today's greatest composers. I can't wait for Transitus~
Holy....I didn't realize there was a new album announcement! Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
This album is a regular listen to at work. I wasn't going to listen to anything tonight (I'm at work now) but now here comes The Source. Nicely reacted one again, guys.
Arjen is a musical genius! And I can vouch that he does respond to emails. I sent him my thoughts on his "Human Equation" album after hearing it and was surprised when I got a personal response from him. Such a cool guy. I can't wait for the new Ayreon album due out this year.
Hands down the best reaction I've seen to this song, and I've watched SO many! ...I want this awesome song to blow people away when I watch reactions, the way it did when I heard it, watching your faces throughout the music I knew you loved it..finally this masterpiece has the amazing review it deserves..the only thing that could possibly have improved this song would be if it featured my favourite Ayreon regular, Damian Wilson, but you can't have everything!! Great reaction, thanks guys
Valley of the Queens, with Floor AND Anneke
Love them both so much. And the wonderful Marcela Bovio as well, who just found out she's CANCER FREE!
And Marcela!
Yes - this!! ^^
AND Marcela !
@@Green-Lyon Yes, Marcela is great also & I'm so glad that she's cancer free finally.
Sploosh! Ayreon on sistah's channel 💜😆 we're blessed! The human equation is by far my favorite album
You should react to:
•After Forever (Floor’s first band) - “Dreamflight” Live
•Tarja - “Crimson Deep” live (one of her best vocals, but very underrated song)
•Anneke van Giersbergen - “When I Am Laid in Earth” live (her best live vocals in my opinion)
•Ayreon - “Valley of the Queens” live with Anneke, Floor and Marcela Bovio (another super talented singer, but very underrated)
Ayeron, Day Sixteen: Loser (got both a didgeridoo and Devin Townsend on vocals, very reaction worthy, off the album 'The Human Equation'). :)
They can react on tle live version of Loser, isn't? From THE THEATER EQUATION
@@kiwitron True, The TE versions get blocked somehow
As always a fantastic reaction,thx.
This video is one of the gems of the internet
I love it how you totally sumberge yourselves in the music! Your commentary, while still "high" on music, is always delightful to watch!
If you like Michael Eriksen, the Diplomat, you should REALLY check out his band, Circus Maximus. I highly suggest the songs Alive, Game of Life, Arrival of Love, and Namaste.
Hell yeah! Love Circus Maximus.
And also The Magnificent :)
I noticed the flute melody while you were talking was from "Valley of the Queens", another of his songs.
Quite a ride on this one. I love Ayreon. This guy is so creative and fun.
Seriously you both make the best reactions, from the production to the emotion, these have everything. Would love more Ayreon reactions from you guys especially the live songs.
I could watch you guys react to Ayreon all the time!! Please, MORE AYREON!!!
Last year there was another live concert because of the 25 year anniversary of the album Into the electric castle.
Simone Simons and Mark Janssen from Epica, Fish and many other musicians participated in this epic live concert. You’ll find a lot of songs on UA-cam. See channel of Arjen Anthony Lucassen and other channels.
I love Ayreon. They are my third best band after Oink Floyd and Nightwish.
There’s a new album coming out called Transitus. Joe Satriani is on it.
Arjen Anthony Lucassen is a genius Dutch composer of progressive rock/metal & he has been able to work with the best musicians and vocalists through-out his many projects, of which Ayreon is the biggest and most well known internationally. This particular song is a perfect example of what I said in the 1st sentence.
P.S. Early "In Flames" was a melodeath band, but nowadays their music is more like melodic Groove Metal / Metalcore / Alternative Rock. If one wants to listen to great melodeath, I'd suggest bands like Amon Amarth (Sweden), Insomnium (Finland), Swallow the Sun (Finland) & Aephanemer (France).
This is amazing. Only yesterday I saw your video on Deep Purple, the first of your videos Ive ever seen. I recommended Ayreon and band todsay here I find you've already beaten me to it. The odds are astronomical.
I'm a huge Ayreon fan and I love this song. That said, watching this with you two was like hearing the song for the first time with new eyes. Thank you.
If you like the heavier side of Arjen, check out Star One. Similar concept but the two albums are focused on famouse scifi movies/books and are a bit more "metal". My favourite Star one song is "The eye of Ra", based on Stargate. Especially the live version has an AMAZING ending.
Well, you said he doesn't have a band, but the drummer has been a constant throughout almost all arjen's project, and he's awesome :)
Ed Warby...irreplaceable
I have been watching a lot of your reaction and just wanted to say how much I appreciate the love you guys have for music, having a lot of respect for what has been created. Thanks guys, keep it up!
Need to say it's the first time I have ever heard of Ayreon and a few of the vocalists on the song, but it was really a good one. Will check some more of his work, probably's gonna suit my tastes.
As for the Delain reaction, I really hope it's Sing to Me or Your Body is a Battleground.
Small correction. The human Equation IS part of the Ayreon universe. It is a simulation ran by the advanced race that cannot feel emotions (thus the last phrase of the album itself "Emotions.... I remember") in a quest to understand those emotions (Others say it may be linked to the dream sequencer though, as a sort of flashback).
I've been listening to Ayreon since 2008 when I listened to it on mp3 (sorry Arjen, and someday I'll buy all your albums), and I'm pleasantly pleased to see how year after year such an artist and composition is appreciated.
Such a wonderfull reaction and Wolfkain I have to praise you for your tremendous research.
Great reactions. You give us a lot to think about. Please continue. Genius idea to display the Big Brother lyrics by only ‘1’ and ‘0’.
BTW you fit perfectly well into the wallpaper by this album. LOL
Love love LOVE this reaction! You not only did your homework but you also paid attention during the video and broke it down so well! Keep these prog reviews coming! Would love to see you do the full Source album or even the new Ayreon album Transitus when it comes out in September!
Toehider is awesome!!!! You must check them out. BTW. Ed Warby was the drummer of Gorefest. A killer death metal band from Holland.
had the right metal sound of the old and the newwwwwww just perfect to me
Ah, yes, Hansi and Tobias (with their bands Blind Guardian and Avantasia) are the german metal communities pride and joy on the international metal stage. Or, two of the greatest ones.
Also, this song and its lyrics have quite a different meaning when you know the other albums. It's the prequel to the 'Forever' which is the prequel to the very first album and the whole ayreon story in our world. You know exactly, how this whole journey will end, what will become of the human protagonists and TH-1, the only 'machine' that they kept.
Haaa, I'm gonna go and listen to all the albums again.
I love that the introduction has age of shadows playing another awesome song
Not my first, but my most favourite Ayreon Album was "The Theory of Everything".
Among the usual horde of guest muscians (he had Keith Emerson contributing a synth solo!) there was Troy Donockley and Marco Hietala. I thought "how long before he gets the rest of Nightwish?"
Well, at least he has had all the Nightwish vocalists :D
Love this song so much, watching Sistah react to this was amazing, she really let it take her emotionally. Ayreon are just amazing
Ayreon is one of my favourite music entities! Your pronunciation of the name Arjen was spot on.
Good job finding that rare instrumental version of Valley of the Queens! I don't think I've even heard it before.
There is a new album in the making, and you can follow the announcements of all the guest singers and instrumentalists in a Guess-The-Guest competition on the Ayreon Facebook page.
Blind Guardian is another of my all-time favourite bands. I fell in love with Hansi's voice from albums such as Imaginations from the Other Side, Nightfall in Middle-Earth, and Tales from the Twilight World. I agree about the similarities to Claus Meine's (Scorpions) vocal delivery.
Epic. Truly special. Both your presentation and the musical ride... no better word for it. Thinking of becoming a Patreon supporter myself. Who else if not you.....
That is so sweet 😊♥️
I adore this song and now, this reaction , thanks guys!
ayreon is amazing, do more pls, try star of syrrah live, into the black hole or dawn of a million souls (also russen allen has the best friking vocals ever, check out his prog metal band called symphony x)
They already reacted to Symphony X (Inferno)
@@saschakamm9416 But they need to do "The Odyssey". :)
@@Easy_Skanking Oh yeah😉
My favourite song ever
Glad you liked the video; it's often the down to earth way of thinking by the Dutch anything is possible nothing is a must ! so keep cool and enjoy. greetings from the netherlands.
Speaking of "the country guy" / president - you should listen to another song from his band, "SYMPHONY X - THE ODYSSEY" :)
i love ayreon, his most easy-listening album is 'the final experiment' about a mediaeval minstral; floor appears on his album universal migrator part1 in the song 'my house on mars'.
there is a beautifull life version of 'valley of the queens' with floor
YESSSS!!!! I am a huge fan of all things Arjen! That dear old metal hippy has produced some fantastic music. There's a new studio album coming later this year. Going to be Narrated by the legendary "Doctor Who" actor Tom Baker. I can't wait.
You definitely must check out Mike Mill's Toehider! Hugs from Italy!
I like that you don't hide emotions. Absolutely beautiful
Love this so much!!! Also, there's a gift in your PO Box!!!
:-O Hi, Rebecca! ^_^/// Reallyyyyy?!! :-D ♥
@@HalfLifeSistah really really! I made something for you, Wolfkain and your daughter!
@@rebecca1294 you didn't know it, but just in time for my birthday next week😁. I need to go check the box now, thank you 🤗
@@WolfKain You're welcome! And happy early birthday!!
I didn't see it in the comments, but the Human Equation is still part of the Ayreon universe. I don't want to spoil anything, but the final part of the final song clues you in to what it really is if you've listened to the other albums.
Hello from Greece!!Love you guys!!!
Greetings! ^_^/// We love you, too! ♥
Arjen reminds me bit of my cousin we lost few years ago. he also was multi-instrumentalist and liked to be with himself, but still connected, i am tearing up so now i am just going to listen.
Great reaction. A few thoughts: Frist off, great research. Arjen has some "side-projects" really worth checking out: Star One (There I discovered Floor some 15 years ago when she was singing backing vocals with her sister), Stream of Passion (with the most underrated Marcela Bovio. They continued as a proper band without Arjen and did some geeat albums), The Gentle Storm (with Anneke van Giersbergen), Amberon, The Guilt Machine.... So A LOT to dig in. Arjen has a great sense of how to place singers to his characters and melodies. Plus he can laugh about himself and doesn't take himself too seriously. The Ayreon Universe show is a real treasure chest.
Fun thing with The Human Equation: while it's a self-contained story, it is actually part of the broader Ayreon universe as it takes place as a simulation within the Dream Sequencer (a core concept in the Universal Migrator albums, which are the end of the overall storyline of the Ayreon universe)
Next: Everybody Dies (live)
I worship at the altar of Arjen Lucassen!!!!! I have many autographed pictures and albums from the Maestro!! Brilliant. Genius. Amazing!!
I LOVE your reactions. Two bands really hit me hard Nightwish and Ayreon. A 20 year plus fan of both. Ayreon is just too hard to explain! ha! Every release is a huge concept. Some concepts span multiple release, like this one. They are always star studded releases. I have to be honest, I can't remember if I found Floor Jansen through After Forever or Ayreon first. Oh, and that "Country Rock" guy is the singer for Symphony X! Night quite country! LOL He also sings for Trans Siberean Orchestra, Adrenaline Mob, Allen-Lande, Allen-Olzon (as in Annette former NW singer) and other Ayreon projects like Star One. Superstar singer. However, this song alone is loaded with supoer star singers. Enjoy your journey into Ayreon. It's vast!
I was there at Ayreon Universe and saw this masterpiece live. I could strongly recommend "Valley of the queens" from the live show. Sista will cry definitely! ;)
Also Comatose, Day 16: Betrayal , Druids turn to stone (live) and so much from his last live-show "Into the electric castle" is absolutely mesmerizing.
I strongly recommend to watch the docus and specials about Arjen - he's the most humble and skilled musician I now!
I was there also, but this song was not played at all...
You should react from the video Arjen from his last Ayreon live. The song is called "Twisted coil - LIVE" and it will blow you away (Damian Wilson is singing). **It is a MUST!**
i like that investigation before hearing the song, ayreon is one of my favorite agrupation of musicians ever. keep hearing them u wont be disappointed.

Thanks for being a Blind Guardian (Hansi Kuersch) fan, Wolfkain! BG are always underrepresented in reactions.
Her reaction is pure gold! And his face is awesome! Love it!
You really need to listen to the whole album. This song is kinda the intro to the story it tells where all the characters are introduced. All the artists come back in different combinations for the other songs, which are chapters that tell the story... definitely worth buying this album, even if it's also fully on youtube. We need to support this genius!
loved it
Ya'll have to check out the Ayreon songs with Devin Townsend and Bruce Dickinson. Killer stuff. "The Human Equation" contains some of the heavier stuff and Devin's songs.
Arjen was originally meant to do a whole album with Bruce Dickinson. It floundered due to conflicting reasons from both parties.
- James LaBrie (Dream Theater) as The Historian
- Tommy Karevik (Kamelot) as The Opposition
- Tommy Rogers (Between The Buried And Me) as The Chemist
- Simone Simons (Epica) as The Counselor
- Nils K. Rue (Pagan's Mind) as The Prophet
- Tobias Sammet (Edguy, Avantasia) as The Captain
- Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian) as The Astronomer
- Michael Mills (Toehider) as TH-1
- Russell Allen (Symphony X) as The President
- Michael Eriksen (Circus Maximus) as The Diplomat
- Floor Jansen (Nightwish) as The Biologist
- Zaher Zorgati (Myrath) as The Preacher
Vocalists in order of appearance
I saw Floor and Arjen on a talk show many years ago, right after they first met. They immediately hit it off and were discussing a collaboration project they were working on. Sorry but I can't remember the name of the song or songs. Someone with the NW Army may recall.
Wasn't that, like 15 years ago? 20 years?
wait wait wait...someone reacting to AYREON??? Instant subscribe!
Quite a journey, this song is. I wanna forward this to Haley Alexis (here on YT): an american girl, who spent some years in Germany.
Actually, Arjen has a new album on start: "Transitus". From what I've heard so far, it's gonna be epic. Again.
Have to edit this for a sidenote: Michael Mills singing the part of the machine. (And Arjen stating, that Michael created this section of the song all by himself: (maybe it was in the lyrics, haha!) the final word in this is: "ONE"
Now, I'm a technical nerd. In the the digital world, "zero" = 5 Volts. "one" = ground.
"ground voltage" equals "no energy"
Just my idea, about why this last spoken word: "One" might have a meaning.
WELCOME to the INCREDIBLE world of Ayreon, you two!!!!
The Ayreon Universe IS something to behold, that's for sure!!!!
Check out "Into The Electric Castle"...especially the newest live version...with John DeLancie (Q from ST:TNG)...you guys will LOVE it!!!!
Thanx for another GREAT reaction!!!!
He's also worked with Bruce Dickinson!
You are awesome couple!!!
I fisrt meet you on the Shoemaker reaction, wich you nained it!!!
You sould definitely listen to "The Dream Dissolves" and 'Deathcry of a race"
(from Ayreon ofcourse) even if you dont make a reaction of them!!!
Keep up rocking!!
I love you guys so much ❤️ please react to Ayreon - The Eye Of Ra (Ayreon Universe), the "We Are The World" for metal fans
Oh by the way, you can reach out to Arjen for an interview. He is very approachable online.
I also just dicovered Ayreon... such a great project :)
He even recorded an album with Bruce Dickinson as a character in it
loved seeing Hansi ;p awesome reaction guys
Actually, The Human Equation is part of the Ayreon Universe, but it's a bit complicated to explain haha
Jepp. It really pays to listen to the very end of that album. Probably still my favourite Ayreon, out of a selection of true greatness!
The guy at 13.32 into the video is from the same place as me. He is the vocalist of Pagans Mind :)
If you like Mike Mills you should do a Toehider song as his music is almost the definition of underrated. All the songs have great messages but in a very tongue in cheek delivery. Humorous metal!
Love Arjen and everything he does. HUGE fan of Ayreon! You should check out a series of fan-made Ayreon videos animated with Lego characters. It is awesome and hilarious and it got approval from Arjen.
FYI the 01s are binary code for ASCII computer characters and they spell 'trust TH1', which is the name of AI computer in the story. 😀
have to say it again kick ass loved it
If you touch on Ayreon again, I highly recommend "Into The Black Hole" featuring Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden.
It's simply amazing.
I follow you quite a time I have not reacted yet, but as a Dutch man ! Trust me Arjen did react to you To be honest! I like the comments of Wolfkain He does the research and has a lot of knowlegde i think Greetings from a old Dutch man
