I had a toilet 🚽 fill valve making a weird noise that I was knocking my head and couldn’t not figure out because it did it at random times would stop randomly also not do it again for some time. One day the chain on the handle broke and when replacing it it did it !!! I was amazed how it never occurred that was the culprit 😂😂😂
Put new water hoses on the washing machine hot/cold (the ones on there have been on there since 2008 and were rubber)...these new ones are double reinforced with metal under rubber.....anyway....had the tiniest of seaps coming out of the valves after installation....had to tweak the tightness just right to get to dry....probably needs new shut off/on valves...6 months now...still dry as a bone. BTW- my new TOTO toilet is great.... not using bleach to clean it either, so that special coating doesn't get damaged. 👍
I have a mystery- sewer smell coming from TANK in new Kohler Santa Rosa. Reset it, put hose pipe down vent and ran water quite a while and checked in crawl space for any obvious problem. Had septic pumped after that. There is a slight “burp” after flush that I don’t notice in other 2 installed same day. Plumber suggested we replace the toilet before he came out.
@@Lisa-laine have you looked at the water level in the toilet bowl? The water level should be a half inch above the waste outlet in the bowl. In the tank, the fill valve should have a 1/4” hose running to the overflow pipe. The hose should be only about a half an inch into the tube. Or, there is usually a special fitting or a clip that will hold the overflow tube in position. Check to see if it fell off. You might want to check all the vents penetrating the roof to make sure they are not plugged. Best way to do this is run water down the vents using a garden hose. I don’t know what part of the country you live in, but a lot of snow covering the vents can block vents which can cause odors and the drain system not to work properly.
@ Thanks for the suggestions! All that seems ok with water flow and levels. We don’t have snow but we do have leaves but the water ran through the vent fine. Just strange that the smell isn’t at the base or in the bowl- just the tank.
@@Lisa-laine turn the water off to the toilet, drain the tank, vacuum out/ sponge out the extra water, and clean the tank well with some Clorox and see if that helps.

Why would anyone want to use the hose in the winter? SALT I have the hot water hosed up, wash, unhook the hose drain the water and leave the valve open. I'm I wrong? The town carwash shut down 15 years ago, and I'm forced into it.

Nice video Jim. Thumbs up from Iowa.
Thanks for another great video!

Keep your garden hoses drained as well not to freeze up

Cast iron does not have a 30 year life expectancy.
