  • Does the wind direction on your Davis Vantage Pro2 only point North? If so, you have a faulty Potentiometer. On the older strait body manometers (like on my 2016 unit), this part is deemed 'non serviceable'. However, I have cracked the code! This video will teach you how to replace the Potentiometer on an older strait body unit.

I just had to replace my anemometer, wind vane unit. The old one was frozen at North, but anemometer still worked. Same scenario as the one you repaired in this video. I am hoping to do the same repair on my broken unit and keep it as a backup. This video will be very helpful. if I can find the potentiometer. The link you provided shows it being currently unavailable. Not sure if it has been discontinued or not!

I bought mine on Mouser Electronics. Mouser Part # 652-6639S-1-203. Expect to pay around 40 Bucks for part and shipping. No Regrets!

Turns out I must have the type unit that can not be replaced!. After gouging it out of the housing, turns out the anemometer unit must be picked up by the wind vane pot (magnetically?) There are NO wires coming out of the anemometer unit!. The wind vane pot is in 2 pieces, without a solid plastic case (like the one I ordered from Mouser). Sadly, I will have to return it and scrap the old unit completely! But thanks for your help. It was worth a shot!@@OldSoulMillennial

@@fenderbender8556 no wires coming out of the anemometer? Do you see terminals on the back of the anemometer?
It’s possible you may have accidentally pulled the wires off the terminals and into the tube mount. That’s what I accidentally did.
Feel free to email me a photo of what you have going on. Email should be in the description.

Good job man, i have a target 2 windvane, trying to adjust the 4 potentiometers on the pcb to get it to read correctly.
Do they use the brass tip which is screwed on fot detection, or does it use the metal ring inside the hub at the base?
