    There are a lot of tutorials for zip purses- but this is the best I have found. Clear and concise, and explained so well for a beginner. I have now made several for a Foxy Fundraiser for wildlife, so thank you so much x

      Glad to hear that! You can alter fabric sizes based upon how wide and high you want your wristlet so try using a piece of 8 1/2 X 11 paper to draw your ideal size and cut your fabric based upon that (adding on 1/4" for seam allowance). Have fun creating!

    Hello Nikki. I just found your tutorial and it's exactly what I've been searching for. My question is that I'm using old faded denim fabric to make my purse so is the Pellon 809 the right interfacing? The fabric is heavier than quilting material but still flimsy. Thank you. You're an excellent teacher. I haven't sewed in years and I thought I'd start with this project.

    • @SewnByNikki
      @SewnByNikki  3 роки тому +1

      Hello! There are many types of interfacing you can use. It just depends on how strong/thick you would like it. I would suggest going to the store and feeling the interface. When I want a bag or pouch extra stiff, I use Decovil. If I want it flexible where I can shove it in my bag, I use a fusible fleece. It just depends on your needs and preferences.

    • @SewnByNikki
      @SewnByNikki  2 роки тому

      Yes. 808 is just the one side/smaller dimension of the 809 interface; same product.

    Doing some for gifts.. but thinking to make them like a bottom box..will it be fine?

    • @SewnByNikki
      @SewnByNikki  4 роки тому +1

      I think for this particular size, the boxed bottom would be too big. I would increase the wrislet size by an inch and make the boxes 1x1 ... Remember, creating the boxes will have you loose a bit of height on the wristlet so you would need to account for that measurement. Let me know how it works out for you.

    I keep ending up with rounded corners at the zipper ends. What am I doing wrong?

    • @SewnByNikki
      @SewnByNikki  2 роки тому

      Poke out your corners with a chopstick or pencil eraser before you sew the lining. It makes a big difference!

    When I ironed my interface it came out wrinkled. I used high heat and the 809 Pellon. What could I of done to it?

    • @SewnByNikki
      @SewnByNikki  3 роки тому +1

      Try having a spritz bottle near you when you sew. Sometimes, the interface comes wrinkled off the bolt. Spritzing it and laying it on pre-heated cotton fabric helps it adhere easier. I would also be sure to iron on top of the fabric once you have ironed on the interface.

    • @MamaHummzz
      @MamaHummzz 3 роки тому +1

      When you iron on interfacing you should press and not move the iron back in forth until it's bonded. I always iron the fabric side. If that helps.
