I love as soon as xena defeated him she ran over to her friend and Gabrielle and spoke to him, he died a hero while the other guy died alone, he wanted to be a god so badly yet in death he was just an afterthought.
That's what I love about Xena. The moral messages. Simple, but always profound. The way that he reached for the Ambrosia just before dying, his last selfish action and not reaching it before dying demonstrates that greed never pays out. In contrast to the other guy who died trying to save a life. Trying to do the right thing. Him stating his redemption even if it was his last moments.... Truly beautiful.
There were some pretty good moral messages in Hercules too. Sadly the TV landscape today seems devoid of a lot of that. Darkness seems to reign supreme in series now.
Amazing fight scene, thrilling suspense over whether the villain would get to the ambrosia, and sadness with the death of Xena's previous fiancé. And of course Gabrielle is rescued! Great stuff!
Great action in this fight 02:04 xena could have got him there but chose not to, 03:25 xena over powers him, 4:02 just die already! Love how xena runs to her fights as soon as the fight is over
Even after all these years I still want to taste ambrosia. Also, that actor who plays the villain is FOREVER playing a villain lol. He played the evil meditating guy who was turning Gabrielle into a statue in the Indus episodes, he played a killer in Charmed
Omg yes, I would say I remember him mostly as a mercener from herc 3x01 but he played the murderer, the one prue exposed, how could I forget, nice remark
@@lynnlRDR-RDR2 Well I knew they recycled actors/actresses a lot on Hercules, Xena, and Charmed. Just didn't realize this particular guy played multiple characters.
A fantastic series. Not a popular choice, but I always liked Joxer. 😏 (Just replaced my box set, too much damage on my previous..played too many times).
Xena should have been able to beat the bad guy much more easily. Sometimes she defeats a regular mortal with a single blow. I guess they wanted to make things more exciting, so they powered her down here.
He put up a decent fight but maybe she was caught unaware of her friend being stabbed, she did over power him in the end though and managed to reach her friend while the villain died on his own as an afterthought and the other guy died a hero, great episode
Maybe at that time the writers hadn't conceived of the idea of using a bit of ambrosia to revive a dead/dying person? The first time they did that was season 2 to bring Xena back to life. Originally, ambrosia was simply supposed to make a mortal a god.
A big old plothole for the viewers to fill. It's been a long time since I watched the show. The only way to rationalize this is that they didn't know at the time. It's much better than if they revive Xena earlier and then they just throw up their hands in the air for this guy. Unfortunately other tv series have failed like this.
it is time to bring this show back from the dead! and instead of a reboot why not just start where the show ended in 2001! xenas unending selfless love for Gabrielle is amazing. xena through trial and errors, through pain and torture. and crucifixion. there friendship endured stronger then it ever was or had been before.
Xena has been off the air for 20 years. So it wouldn’t be possible to pick up where they left off unless they got younger actors (which I’m not a fan of). Lucy and Renee are now in their 50’s and have stated they would have trouble performing the physical requirements needed for a new series. Xena meant everything to me as a kid. So I can understand why you’d want it back.
One thing every bad guy on the show has to learn the hard way: Don't mess with Gabrielle or you have to contend with Xena.

@@tjtenser7828 Your absolutely right. It's frightening
Yes and he died on his own Xena didn’t even check his body, as the other guy died with both women around him as a hero
I just love watching Xena kicking butt and saving life
Same!

imagine this guy trying to take Gabrielle hostage in the latter seasons, when she was a full-fledged warrior; he’d be in for a nice little surprise
Considering how he held his own against Xena, later Gabrielle would still struggle.
She has an interesting selection of battle cries here
Am I the only one who wanted Xena to be a goddesses eventually.

I like Joxer, too. He's a bit silly sometimes, but he has a good heart.
