Hi, I am slightly confused- I always thought that the response to a stimulus was always instant and was always referred to as a reflex arc? What is the first response called which you were talking about when you didn't mention the motor neurone? x
Hey Hazel, just wanted to know why the myelin sheath maintains a very high speed in which the electrical impulse travels. What is the point of it's insulation? btw thanks for the videos you are a lifesaver x
VioletStar actually the myelin sheath insulates the axon and prevented the electric charge/impulse to escape into the surroundings , the part that helps in quickening the transfer of impulse is the node of Ranvier, this makes the impulse leap from one node to the other instead of making it have to travel one long path , this jumping movement of signal is aka saltatory conduction . :)
AAAH she is so underrated it hurts
agreed
I never understood this and now I do one day before my exam
+William Howlett brilliant - so pleased to hear that! Good luck tomorrow!
