Drums. Best ever on death or black metal.
Details, great fillings,full of inspiration.
That's mature musicianship.
Tony Laureno.
well put. George is good but Tony
Down to the ground. David Gray too Akercocke
This is one fo those metal albums where every fucking track is insanely good, you don't have to skip any song.
there are plenty of metal albums like that haha. I hate listening to albums where I need to skip songs because then the album just feels like it has holes in it...
Wait, you're telling me you SKIP songs?
Have you never heard or liked an album where there's a song you just don't care to hear?
Lamb of God's got some like that lol
for me it's just inevitable that there are some I don't like; rare exceptions for me include Obscura's Cosmogenesis, Hideous Divinity's Obesiance Rising and Sodom's Decision Day.
Metalhead Forlife cmon mate Obsucra is the shit, their first album also had some nice brutal touches
The virtuosity of these guys, absolutely insane!
fucking unas slayer of the fucking gods
feasted on their immortality, feedeth on their entrails
most epic death metal song ever
YES!!! THE BENDS ON THE SOLO
16:42 Nice tribute to Candlemass Well of Souls
Nile is so pure.
Phenomenal album! Surely Nile's most complete work in technical terms and one of my favorite albums by the band alongside their classic debut album, Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka. Masterpiece!
In terms of technicality it's actually one of their least complex, maybe even their outright least.
Never stopping madness. The Blessed Dead is just like one crazy non-stopping drum solo.
為
This has always been my favorite Nile record. It was my intro to them, I had never heard of them before but the album cover caught my eye and just bought it based on that. I was completely blown away by the musicianship. Tony’s drumming is absolutely insane on this record,
definitely #1 nile album for me also. In top 10 of all time.
This one definately aged well
I love ads in the middle of death metal songs, please interrupt more songs more often, particularly for products no Nile fan would piss on when on fire.
What are you talking about?
I love having softer, smoother skin...
Well if it makes you feel any better, the money made from those ads go to the band.
Pyramid Head I hope so dude. If not, it would be a shame ...
Ever thought of buying the record?
It's great to hear about a new shave product while you are listening about how the Pharaon Unas flies in the sky breaking bones and devouring people more than 3000 years ago
Holy shit 20 years. God I remember when Master of Puppets turned 20 and now this. Fuck I'm old. Imma die soon.
i still remember when this album was released. I was fucking mindblown. I thought they will never be able to top "Black Seeds of Vengeance" and yet here we are.
It blew my mind! So happy to have seen them in London and have bumped inro Karl.
Unas slayer of the gods must easily be in top 5 death metal songs ever made. It's my favourite though.
A masterpiece.
It reminds me of a Candlemass song from the album "Nightfall".
@@aleidamedina6983 well of souls by Candlemass, yes the main is riff is identical.Love both songs haha
@@ShamsArifin-pj3bz Lol what are the chances I come from listening to Candlemass and that song to this album hearing for the first time. It is fucking amazing
Not sure...there's still User-Maat-Re though
It's almost unbelievable this absolute masterpiece will be turning 21 this year! I remember the time of its launch as if it were something recent. Impressive how time flies...
I bought this album on release and it blew me away! First Nile album I've ever listened to and what an introduction!
Sarcophagus and Unas are probably two of my all time favorite Nile songs. When they did their 20th Anniversary tour they played them back to back.
EPIC!!!!
+sludgedisciple That 2 hour set was incredible. Where did you see them?
Albany NY. It was epic. I just saw them again a few weeks ago. Nile never lets me down.
This is absolute insane drumming absolute insane riffing reaping scales off the charts tempo changing brutality with technical prowess on ancient Egyptian lullabies.
Sarcophagus is a great track!
My favorite Nile album. Remember when it came out. Blew my damn mind. This helped me become a better and faster drummer.
The best Nile album imo. Laureano's drum work is so unique and great on this. Plus the songwriting, solos, riffs, bass arrangements are something special. I love all their albums. But this is my #1 by Nile.
Yes man.this rotted mummy says the same
Nile doesn't really have a prominent bass. It just kinda mixes together with the guitar to make one big fat tone.
No, ithyphallic is best
Black Seeds of Vengeance is lil' better but this one is awesome too.
@@eraser.head.9601 °
This and AOTW are the best Nile albums imo.
Signed/
Behold, one of the greatest death metal albums of all time!!! \m/
Nope. Go listen to Nirvana's "Nevermind" if you want a much better death metal album.
Go into the grave.
+TheSmashingTesticles haaaa haha! Let me tell you that I'm a 36 year old guitarist who's been playin since I was 11 years old, I've grown through Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Stone Temple Pilots when I was in my teens and have now settled on a guitar style which actually requires dedication and years of practice to accomplish. So with no due respect whatsoever GO FUCK YOURSELF with something uncomfortable you fuckin TWAT!
DRED ATOR i dont think so
white zombie Well then you think wrong. This bridges the gap between the brutal death metal staple of the genre and the technical stuff we're accustomed to today. The riffage on this album is badass and Tony Laureano doesn't get enough credit - his blasts are awesome!
My favorite Nile album. Absolute masterpiece.
you know when a piece of art its imortal when you listen after 15 years and its still flawless and brutal
the DRUMMING HERE IS BEYOND FUCKING WORDS!!!! Superior TOP quality of innovation and Master-control from Tony Laureano !!! no words for it !
Amongts and Shrines = two of my most favorite Nile records
This album probably features my most favorite drumming, in anything.
.... This album is untouchable in
my opinion. The talent on this album is second to none! Laureno's work on this is amazing. 🤘❤️🤘
This is one of the finest albums of Egyptian Metal ever recorded.
I think that statement is a bit of a discervis to Nile, it's not like there is a plethora of " Egyptian metal" acts out there, this is great death metal period.
A dance-pop classic!
With some rave-western in there.
Henrik Høyrup rave-western, lol
Slow country classics to keep your heart warm and your loved ones smiling all throughout the year !
I love this rap album
Your comment is not cheesy and insufferable because of its ostensible content, but because of your smug, entitled "irony"...
NILE IS THE SHIT! Every time i listen to this album the adrenalin rush is so intense my soul feels recharged.
Tony Laureano, Jon Vesano, Karl Sanders and Dallas. That was the best line-up.
i got to see'em at the Palladium in Worcester MA. it was amazing
Jon Vesano was insane
YES IT WAS! I got 2 c them in dec2001 and sep2002! it was TOP ! top quality DM !!!
Gotta agree with this
And 'Unas slayer of the gods' one of the greatest death metal tracks ever created.
This album introduced me to truly technical metal
Every Nile album is a banger
This is one of those records where, if I put it on I'm gonna stop doing whatever I'm doing and listen to it cover to cover.. absolute masterpiece in every sense of the word..Hailz Nile \m/
The best Nile album. I will take the first three over any of the others any day. The riffs and arrangements more memorable (modern Nile sounds like endless scale runs to me), and, above all, the engineering and performances more natural, less quantized and picked apart, note-by-note.
@morwen angelus all Nile's albums are amazing. I like ITDS the most but I love them all. Take the time to get to know the new ones they are worth it
"scale runs" what? You have no idea what you are talking about, me thinks.
@@ryanpaul1403 yep, I'm a stupid fucking moron, with an ugly face, whose butt smells, and I like to kiss my own butt.
@@HabAnagarek hahaha hails moe
Pure perfection..this is so damn good. Nothing's even close to it last years
they don't make em like this anymore....a gem of it's time that won't ever be reproduced in such a way. As some of the few that know about and can find joy in this, we should consider ourselves lucky. I bought this just when it came out. It took many many listens to learn to appreciate it as it is not a easy listening experience by any means. Over the years I went on many a musical journey but I always come back to this album and am hammered down by it's awesomeness each time I listen to it once again. Maybe the best death metal album of all time.
No existe un álbum de NILE que decepcione todo trabajo hecho por estos maestros es una obra de arte y está vez no podía ser menos ♥️🇻🇪
There's something awesome about the drums on every Nile record. Even when they can sound better, it's still 100% right for the tone of the record. Love that shit.
masterpiece. sheer brutality in its entire monstrousness
Vengeance, Shrines and Annihilation are the three greatest death metal albums ever written.
And Nephren-Ka
Jesus! 🙄🙄🙄🙄👺
This album hits different on full volume 🤟🔥
Invocation to seditious heresy is beyond belief , just pure atmosphere and power it's one of the best of theirs. First few albums are beyond belief.
I remember when this came out..jamming at my friends house , high as hell and we listened to it at least 5 times to take in this masterpiece in DM history.
In every genre there comes an album that helps give it a breath of fresh air
This is that album in the field of Death Metal..
Morbid Angel
Nile
Cannibal Corpse
Deicide
Have been great pillars in the Death Metal genre..
Really nice of Relapse Records to put this out for us. I ofcourse allready own the CD but it's really convenient to have it on youtube if you want to play the record at work or whatever.
Also the sound is really high quality. I don't think I've ever heard a rip on UA-cam where the sound-quality is so high. I have a quite competent hifi-system at home and it sounds really amazing. Totally comparable to the CD. Relapse did you rip this from the master or what? :D
Fucking brutal..... a masterpiece
I’m finishing my first listen, and I already found a copy on vinyl I’ll try to get haha, this is incredible. Having a full Nile vinyl collection is a goal for me, but god it’s so expensive to acquire all of them! They’re one of my favorite live bands, I gotta see them again.
Unas that riff at the start is a Candlemass riff!
Yes. Karl clearly states that in the album credits and notes.
If you like Egypt civilitation and death metal..thats your band...I love it
Just bought this album at a record store on a whim. Definitely not disappointed, I'm glad I followed my instincts.
the songs in this album are by far the most fun to learn by ear. challenging, yes, but fun wither way
Execration Text is such a masterpiece (and hard to play for me atleast, maye one day it will be a piece of cake)
One of my favorite albums by NILE! Got to see them perform 2 weeks ago and they played Sarcophagus!
2 years ago I got to see them perform Unas the Slayer of the Gods and THAT was epic as hell.
Best Death Metal album of all time.
I start to listen Nile from Annihilation of the wicked, and their later releases. never listen too much of early releases, but this is just beyond my expectations. soo fucking good
Churning The Maelstorm is like a jazz trip into meth crystal. Still in 2020 I´ve never listen to nothing close to similar in death metal, maybe some Origin songs but still by far that Nile song is top notch brutal madness.
Yep its kind of ultimate brutality on this one...maybe La Tempestad in Hate Eternal's Infernus album could reach this intensity
Necrophagist fam
best band of all time
i love that album...also i apprecciate very much the recording and mixing the drums, its very real, its beatiful...it looks to stay in a studio close to the drum set....TONY LAUREANO TE AMO….on the tracks Sarcophagus...he played with feel, dynamics, taste….thank you NIle...probably the best work...only my opinion...obviously
What a great album!
This album really got me to open up my mind at a crucial time in life. I heard unas slayer of the gods and bought instantly when it was released
What a start !!!
Especially the drums !!!
Masterpiece!!!
Unas
Unas Wadjtawy Wadjemnebty Bik-nebw-Wadj The Great, Slayer Of The Gods, Worshipped For Thousands Of Years
Absolute masterpiece. Full stop.
First Nile I bought in I think 2003. I loved it but it was so fucking intense I had no idea how to handle it.
Same here. It was so heavy and grinding I had to get used to it. Desensitized.
At the time I'd heard a lot if heaviness but this was so creative and brilliant NILE!!!
i felt the same way on black seeds of vengeance when i first heard it in 2000
Everybody was wearing Slipknot and Metallica t shirts at my high school....so I did some research and freaked everybody out with Nile!!
Since I more or less started with Black Metal (after more normal rock, metal and soundtracks of course), which is way more primitive, this was basically a vacation of technical sophistication for me. Not to show off, because this was not so fun. But I still find this rather aesthetically polished, compared to other of their albums and also on its own (even the cover gives off that smooth "designed" vibe).
This album is so noisy and atmospheric, it's really great. Their later albums sound more musical but I actually prefer this sound.
This is my favorite Nile album of all time👋🤟🤟👋
Thank you for uploading this! This was my first foray into some real death metal shit, and it's still classic
+bluntedatbirth1 FORTE*
Foray, which means "an initial venture."
Great album. Amazing band
This is the best death metal album of the past decade.
Tony Laureano must broke dozens of patches!!!. LOL.
But is not only his brutality beating the drums,
his technique on "Sarcophagus" is simply amazing.
ASHU SEHU NEFERUI SKHENN!!!
may be.
But I can name Cryptopsy Once Was Not
Now Tony Laureano is just the drum tech for Megadeth...probably a good-paying gig though.
This one, Annihilation of the Wicked, and Ithyllphallic are without a question the best Nile albums
@@DethbySnuSnu Really?!?
@@jacobeverman5694 ithyphallic over catacombs?? You been smoking...
It's sick when ads happen in the middle of a song 👍🏻
This was my intro to Nile, has always been my favorite, Unas...still gives me chills to this day!
All Nile album is amazing, cause their sound is original. I always only listen to original and not copycat band. This also why I admire Death aka Chuck.
Великие жанрообразующие Death c 1989 по 1998 , Morbid Angel c 1991 по 1993 ,Carcass 1991-1993 ,Nile c 1997 по 2005 и Behemoth 2004-2007
FUCKING MASTERPIECE!!!!!
you are absolutely right. you should listen to this album one more time.
Such a fucking great album. This is definitely going down as a solid gold oldie. Music I will show to my grandkids. Unas will be my "well kids, back in my day" song.
their best album and the only album i still listen too : Best drummer too
Amazing! Absolute masterpiece all the way through.
Brutal album! Love it.
Thnx to incredibly precise and rhythmic phrasing of Tony Laureano *ON 1.25X SHRINES SOUNDING OVERKILL YET DOPE!*
Wooo thanks for the stream. Had the album until my cd's were stolen. Glad to hear it again.
masterpiece
Wow. The fucking drums are just mind blowing 🤯
I'm proud...the only gangster walking around high school wearing Nile while everyone rocking Metallica and Slipknot.
vic lagina420 yeah...you nailed it!!
ok, you get it. but always remember - with great knowledge comes great responsibility. don't diss the lesser ones but try to help them to climb the next step on their journey to a higher consciousness
brutal
godamn classic
I love Nile music and I truly like the change ups and the dark sounds
My second favorite album by NILE! Absolutely perfect from start to finish 🖤 and it's also one of those albums that needs to be listened in its entirety, imo.
Best of the best's.
Excelente álbum, tremenda batería de Tony Laureano.
Many years since i listened, and that intro made me cry :(
i bought this album back in 2003, i wasn't even into death metal AT ALL, i just thought it sounded really cool and i actually never enjoyed it till i truly got into extreme metal in the late 2000s
UNAAAS!!!
I just hurt my neck and I love it
Great stuff Classic 🤟
I need this one, dam!
HAIL Nile
Wow...never heard this, sits right next to Morbid Angel.
best nile album
I like listening to this in 2 parts. Stop after wind of horus then listen to part 2 the next day.
