I wanna be honest, I picked Golden deer first bc Edelgard felt like what the game want you to choose her for being more important (trailer, merchandise and other stuff let Edelgard being the main, even in fe engage she is the lead of the trio being named emblem edelgard) while Dimitri on the superficial level feel like a normal dude, the classic lord you play on a regular fire emblem. Claude felt fresh from every design perspective: - The first lord have Yellow as main color, and not having blue - His curly black hair and darker skin, and his culture inspired from Persian is unique in confront of the classic medieval european lord with straight colorfull hair - He use a bow as a main weapon, never happened in a lord (Lyn dont have originally a bow) - His personality is also outstanding for being the only lord to be less serious and stoic, but is easygoing and confident in a soft way, feel different - he is the best at introducing himself, and Zoe Zeja with Polygon really convinced me joining golden deer (they are too similar as personality) Claude felt fresh, and honestly I hope next new lord could just feel fresh like he did (even tho all lord in three houses feel fresh from previous games personality wise)
I like the joke of Edelgard fans all being so loyal to her because they simp for her but then I also remember that I picked the blue lions on my first run because I thought Dimitri was handsome
I actually chose Blue Lions for my first playthrough, but as soon as I reached the Flame Emperor reveal I restarted with the Black Eagles because I *had* to see how things played out with Edelgard as my main lord. I was not disappointed.

Without having seen Byleth, folks immediately started speculating that Edelgard would be the next Fire Emblem rep for Smash. Personally, I enjoy opposing a church that secretly controls things and did experiments on you/Byleth since birth, so Edelgard would be my natural pick as well... though I do like many of the members of the Golden Deer.
The church didn't experiment on Byleth through the most you have is that their mother wasn't born the natural way, and she traded her life for Byleth's but thats it

@@mudjumper VW and SS are the only routes where you, directly, confront the Slithery Boys post-timeskip. Antagonist means they are in opposition to the protagonist, so anyone that fights Byleth. A villain is someone considered evil by the narrative and is relevant to the plot, Arundel.
Helps she’s the only one who outwardly wants to dismantle a bad system and isn’t a Church apologist (ain’t that right, Mr. Dimitri “Let the brainwashed people complain first” Blaiddyd?) Claude can white knight all he wants, but CF reveals he literally wants to do the same thing as Edelgard, but with a foreign country invading instead, which would ironically only sow the seeds of racism rather than end it, if history has taught us anything. Claude’s just having a bitchfit that Edelgard did it first, lol. Edit: To both their credit, though, Dimitri makes a better explanation of his point in Hopes, and Claude actually does attempt to follow through with said plan, even teaming with Edelgard briefly
