- The Swinging Sixties and Swinging London was a youth-driven cultural revolution that took place in Britain during the mid-to-late 1960s. It established a fun-loving, decadent and hedonistic vibe. Emphasis was on the most up-to-date, the most contemporary, and the latest with-it trends.
During the 1960s, London underwent a complete transformation, from a gloomy, grimy post-war capital into a bright, thriving centre of style where art, music, and fashion flourished.

OH to be in London in the 1960's!! I was born in the early 60's so I remember some of these trends. Love all those bands from the 60's!! Great fun information Ladies!! Twiggy was the original supermodel!!

We had a 60's here in the US also. Let's not forget "Hey Hey We're the Monkee's." The "Haight Ashbury" district of San Francisco would become quite well known as the "Hippy" capital of the world. The "flower children" ran wild!" Groups like the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane were springing onto the music scene. The one British band you don't mention here was Led Zeppelin, formed in 1967 and would out sell all other bands or solo artists with the exception of the Beatles in world history. But, then they "Went to California on a Big Jet Plane!" because someone had told them "there's a girl out there with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair" but then they may have been "Dazed and Confused." It wasn't just the name of a song but a lifestyle! We were there and think we had fun. But like "wencire one" mentioned we're really not sure!

Really one of my favorite eras for fashion! Jane Birkin, Jean Seberg?? I mean, I still want that haircut. And then that always leads me to the films... come on, Godard's Breathless??? It's the best, plus it shifted so dramatically from the beginning of the 60s to the end of it. This was a wonderful overview... thank you Brit Girls!

My parents grew up during the 60s and were in London at the time it seems like such a exciting time and it's pretty hilarious looking at the clothes that they used wear mum had a huge beehive hairdo and dad had massive sideburns!

Love this, you always have the most interesting fun topics. I remember the Volkswagen Bug, my mom had one, it was red and I always hid in the back compartment. Everything was psychedelic back then, the Woodstock days. I am not that old to remember all of this, lol.

Great video, girls! We could learn some names that we’ve never heard of before. We aren’t here in the 60’s (almost!), but there’s a film called I Wanna Hold Your Hand, about the Beatles performing at Ed Sullivan. It’s the first film executive-produced by Steven Spielberg. I (Christian) love that film. It’s lots of fun. Stay fluffy!

This was really groovy! I wish I was a late teenager or an early twenties guy living in London in the 1960s. I would be surrounded by British women in their miniskirts. Do not worry, I would still be a perfect gentleman. It really must have been a fun and swinging time in the UK. I really do envy you British people. Anyway, it was a great video.
