The detail on the shalimar bottle is supposed to represent the water that would flow throughout the gorgeous gardens at the taj mahal. If you look at the design on the bottle it will remind you of water. I have that parfum de toillette version in a different bottle and it is my favorite version of Shalimar. Except for i picked up a 7.5 ml pure perfume of shalimar from enchante from the turn of the centry and it is to die for. On a side note Anooj from enchante is an absoute living legend... i have found so many gems from him and more to come that he is almost like my perfume guardian angle at this point lol. Anyone reading this have zero hesitation to buy from enchante... the guy just oozes trust and class. Not to mention he is sitting on a treasure trove of perfume! Cheers 🍻
Many of these vintage perfumes macerate and age like fine wine, sometimes they spoil. Maceration, especially over a long period of time will smoothen the perfume, like a cognac for example. The quality of the naturals was somewhat better back then as the market was smaller and less 'mass-produced'. Hence why I respect the quality of natural ingredients in Les Indomadables, many of the vintage formulations had similar quality ingredients. The quality of the raw materials is extremely important. Jean-Paul Guerlain spent most of his career travelling and sourcing the best materials he could use. Would love to get my hands on some vintage Nahema extrait!
Unfortunately Guerlain bottles got simplier lost its caracter like their perfume. Don't mistake me i love Guerlain i always will, i've been loving Guerlain and dreaming about my own Shalimar bottle since my 6th birthday. What makes me sad is that before we had the gorgeous bottles like Parure bottle, flacon Coeur inversé, flacon tonneau, flacon lanterne, flacon encrier etc. But now flacons are simplier, perfumes too. Instead of educating consumers i feel like Guerlain is meeting consumers mainstream simple taste. Still just my personal opinion. Have some vintages that made me literally cry of amazement. Guerlain nowadays is nice, beautiful but can't move me the way vintages do. Beautiful haul!
Nice 👌 the vintage duck helps shopping for you too? God bless that Mallard 🙏 I just got that 2000 Era canister Mitsouko from them a couple weeks ago and bloody love it.
I LOVE vinatge Guerlain! I have a huge goutte flacon of Shalimar edt from 69 that smells likes gorgeous earl gray tea in the opening. I have a 7.5 Ml of the Parfum de toilette which I adore! It’s slightly sweeter in the opening. I have l’heure bleue edt in the 80’s lattice coming in the mail and I grew to love Mitsouko
Sorry to be a couple years late but just found this one and didn't see that anyone else had commented on the bottle you had asked about. The ones without caps, that you showed in L'heure bleue and Mitsouko, those were the testers, in the 70s - 80s. That's quite an impressive haul. I certainly agree with your description of their classics as poetic. I have only purchased vintage Guerlain for years now. If I may suggest, the long discontinued eaux de cologne formulations are still my favorite go tos. The Mitsouko edc is much brighter and well rounded than the edt, which smells very flat in comparison. So since you're a big Mitsouko fan, I think you would enjoy it. The parfums de toilette were great, too, and I love the soaps and powders as well.
rectangular shalimar bottle came out in the mid 80's in the series of parfum de toilette (aka eau de parfum) concentration. before the 80's guerlain only came in 3 concentrations (parfum/extrait, eau de toilette, and eau de cologne). also included in this rectangular bottle series are, jicky, l'heure bleue, mitsouko, and chamade. this series only lasted about 10 years until samsara came out in 1989, then guerlain changed the name parfum de toilette to eau de parfum.
I also have a parfum de toilette version of shalimar with a lovely deep blue, almost trapezoidal cap. Iv'e only seen those style bottles for Shalimar, Chamade, and Mitsouko in the same concentration, each with slightly different designs to represent the perfume housed inside.
What’s going on here Be careful with saying that the vintage stuff doesn’t smell richer then modern stuff. The vintage hunters just might hunt you down, lol. Hope you enjoy them.

So true. Mitsouko can be tricky in vintage.

So do I
The L'Heure Bleue is the refill to the "sugar castor"metal sleeve.
I have gold sucrier de madame refill bottle inside is black ceramic. Is it that one you talking about ?
@@catrina1026 , Could be. I was remembering gold but it could have been black or black and gold.
@@kathrynimhoff344 the sacre de madame looks too short and too wide to house one of the L'Heure Bleue bottles, same shape though 🤔
