We plugged into a local uk site with our new swift caravan a couple of years ago and when I tried to fit the wheel lock I got a shock from the caravan ns wheel i then checked and found the reverse polarity light on I then tried different 230v outlets on the site and they were all the same, I contacted the site owner and they said there was no problem with the site electrics but it was obviously a problem so I left next day. The caravan was check and nff so that facility on the van is extremely useful, thanks for the tips, Rob Hodgetts Brandon Warks
I have a 2017 Swift and I leave my power switch off all the time I am not using it, and the solar panel keeps my battery topped up all the time. Even in the manual it says it will send charge to the battery whilst switch off.
I contacted Swift command technical department this morning 28th March 2023 and they confirmed that if the isolator button is 'OFF' it will allow the solar panel to charge the battery while our 'Swift' caravan is in storage. They also advised against keeping the isolator switched on whilst in storage as it keeps all the systems in 'standby mode' which can drain the battery. Could you recheck your information please. Otherwise great video.
I was also going to point this out and then I saw your note. The same instruction is in the Swift owners handbook i.e. if the isolator button is 'off' the solar panel will still charge the battery and they recommend keeping it turned off when in storage.
I want to put my 2021 Swift into an indoor storage facility this winter. I have access to a mains supply, to keep my leisure battery charged through the onboard battery charger. As I would like to monitor the battery through the communication module and app, what do I need to switch on or off to do this? Thanks
I have left my motorhome on at the unit for the last 3 weeks and both leisure batteries are now flat. How is this if the solar has supposed to trickle charge them?
Hi I have just put my 2021 Swift caravan into an indoor winter storage facility. As I will need to remove my leisure battery periodically to home to recharge to keep my alarm and tracker operational, how long does their backup batteries last until I reconnect the charged leisure battery? Also do I switch power supply unit off while leisure battery is removed? Thanks in advance
Wondering if anyone else turns the 'charger' button off before attaching on-site electric hook up? A recent problem when we were on holiday has prompted us to re-read our Swift Motorhome manual which tells us to switch the charger off before connecting the hook up & then switch it on again after completing the RCD test. Does anyone else do this?
Hi, if I leave my Swift without a 230v mains connection, but want my solar panel to keep supplying the leisure battery do I just leave the isolating switch on? Thanks
The advice in this video is absulutely incorrect. The solar panel will charge the battery if the black shutdown is off. If it is left on it will almost certainly flatten your battery after a few weeks. The advice from Sargent is to switch off the isolation switch when in storage and the solar panel will charge the battery.
I have religeously turned off the Power unit every year and still the battery goes dangerously low during the winter lay-over. I have had to replace a few batteries due to this. Is there another way to keep the battery topped up during winter, with the solar panel only ?
@@BusyElf I've had my current Swift van for 4 years from new. With the black isolation switch off the solar panel keeps the battery fully charged even during the winter. If you have the isolation switch off I can only think you have a problem with your solar panel. Do you keep your van at home? If so just plug it in once in a while and give the battery a charge but it shouldn't really be necessary.

Swift owners manual says the solar panel will charge the battery with the PSU button off.
Should you leave charger button on when plugged in to a site or only for a short time to charge once a day for example

How long dose the battery last with example fridge and small TV
0:29 I've gone to change a fuse but some how it's dropped down behind the unit. Is there any way I can get it out?
4 self taping screws can be removed to gain access to this fuse
@TamarCaravanCentre that's great thank you 👍

If the black system shutdown button is off, you will not be able to monitor the levels eg battery voltage using the Swift Command app

if you wish to monitor the battery then the black on button would need to be on.

But what do I do if the orange button won’t hold down and stay on ?

Yes. I always make sure the power button is off before I connect to the site supply.

Hi, Yes that is correct. The Black button on top of the Swift Command PSU should be in the on position for the solar panel to work.
My caravan is sitting on my drive ready to go and the polarity reverse polarity late is it on how to do will get this to go
Check your caravan leads and adapters
