- After a day of rain in Takasaki we headed out into the beautiful mountains of Gunma, Japan! A wonderful day of perfect roads, amazing shrines, waterfalls, cows (bulls?) on parade ending in the day in the stunning village of Kusatsu Onsen. Oh we ate a lot of stuff too, as one does. Oh, Kyde held it all together through her illness! She's a trooper!

We really dig your insertion of flashbacks (e.g., Oman water source). It adds to your description and also makes the viewer want to go back and rewatch the original. Poor kyde, she looks like a dog who was caught out in the rain. I am amazed at how well she functioned on camera.
The Bon Brun café hasn't been open very long--the latest street view from March 2023 shows the space vacant. Onigiri Bongo in Otsuka is high on our "must eat" list.
At 12:48, the text on the cow says "After 1 pm, there is a line of cows." This farm is Kōzu Dairy Farm (神津牧場), established in 1887. The cows you see on the parade are Jersey cows, which have the highest amount of milk fat of any cow breed, though they have a lower yield. The café is closed Wednesdays and the 2nd and 4th Thursdays.
The restaurant at 16:23 is Restaurant Kakana Chaya (お食事処 かかな茶屋)
The waterfalls at 22:40 are Shiraitono Falls (白糸の滝)
Nothing's better than enjoying a fruit smoothie in front of a sign saying "cigarettes and liquor."

Only vending machine mysteries are capable of raising expectations to the highest highs, only to have everything crash down with soggy sweet potato with plasticky after taste! Never thought that Kusatsu Onsen was Gunma's biggest tourist draw. but looking at that atmosphere it makes complete sense. Super cool looking spot!

Welcome to Gunma!! The trip from Myogi to Kusatsu was wonderful. I am grateful to nature once again. Konnyaku is a specialty of Gunma, has zero calories and is full of dietary fiber.
kyde's food finds are my favourite parts (though i'd probably never eat many of the things she so daringly eats)
I live where there are milking parlors and have friends that have owned dairy farms so I understand daily parades.

Konnyaku is a type of corm (root) of the "Voodoo Lily" or "Devil's Tongue" it's a pretty unusual plant, interesting that folks cultivate it for food.
Everytime you guys say konnyaku, I think of cognac, the alcoholic drink. I also just read on Wikipedia that konnyaku jelly and candy can be a choking hazard.

They look like dairy cows, they tend to look more skinny compared to regular, meat producing cows.
