I imagine Glenn Gould humming this song on a regular basis for no apparent reason. I love this performance of Mozart’s work. Bach and Mozart are both very moving composers, much like you and Gould are very moving performers. I come here once a week to watch you play, and then Glenn before bed. Greatly enjoyed hearing this transcription. I don't find a single work of Mozart written specifically for the guitar, though there are several variations written on themes by Mozart. Unfortunate he died in 1791, just before the interest in writing for guitar became popular in the first few decades of the 19th century. Sor would have been 11 years old when Mozart died. Boccherini's guitar quartet in D maj was written in 1798. I wonder if Mozart had lived another decade if he would have written music for the guitar.

They did know about the guitar in Mozart's time. For example Mozart transformed Beaumarchais' play "La Folle Journée ou Le Mariage de Figaro" into an opera and in that play Chérubin was accompanied by Suzanne on a guitar when he sang to the Countess.
