- Here you will see a clip of Chicago Fire Department Aerial Tower 1 arriving at Engine 42's quarters for fuel and a clip of Aerial Tower 1 leaving Engine 42's quarters with nice Detroit diesel action. Finally, you will see a clip of Engine 1 and Aerial Tower 1 responding to an automatic alarm.
Chicago, IL - 1/18/19
I love how 60% of the tools and ladders and 20% of the paint are missing from AT1.
Yes. This happened to my department, they rented a ladder truck at one point cuz all the spare ladders were being used. Here in seminole county, the ladder trucks tend to get in a spare, sometimes for months
AT1 really needs a new rig... How many times has it been going back and forth to the shop... I'm glad they actually removed the shop number of the rear of the spare engine and actually added that magnetic number plate, easier to tell who is currently out of service
A lot of Chicago's engine and truck companies need new apparatus. Thankfully, they have made progress on making that a reality with new E-one engines, new Rosenbauer squads, etc.
6v92 be sounding amazing!
Looks like that aerial is missing a few ground ladders.
Cool light bar
Call me crazy but I love conservative lighting, as long as it all works and they're actually bright.
The lighting on the old aerial tower is pretty good...an upgrade to what it once had.
Man! 2 for 2 so far! Great job!
Yep. Thanks!
Great catch!
Thanks!
Old rigs have charm! Listen to that Detroit!
I wonder what Aerial Tower means as oppose to a normal Ladder? Looks like a normal stick to me - no basket.
Its just the name of the unit. Theres no actual difference
Gotta love a Detroit! Thanks for watching!
It has a waterway
I think that aerial goes up to 130' plus, and that's the designation for it because of its height. I think the aerial platform trucks in CFD are designated as tower ladders or TLs.
@@worldrenowned Wrong. It indicates a pre-piped waterway. That particular one is a 137' Aerial
The vid I was waiting for! Amazing catches!
Thanks!
Dang, hopefully they get new E-One apparatus for both rigs. But the old rigs just have a certain charm to them, and the EQ action is *crispy*.
The pierce will most likely become a spare and the E-one seen here will be retired
What does the department do with a truck like this after its retired, auction it off? I can imagine that with all the wear and tear after so many years in service with CFD that no other department would really want it.
90210FireBuff I will miss the pierce and the 2001/2002 gladiators
Awesome!
Thanks!
Cool! My fav Engine
Thanks!
@@90210FireBuff you welcome!

Are they getting a new Engine 1 and Aerial Tower 1 soon?
Awesome Video. How Old Is That Truck?
It is a 1988 E-one Cyclone. Thanks for watching!
excellent
Thank you
Whats wrong with the POS AT1 this time?
Unknown.
Wonder why E1 was in A41's bay
Maybe the bay door was broken?
Great catch!
Thanks!
