Loudness were from Japan...moved to NYC. I saw them in 1984 doing a Canadian club tour. Amazing band! Nicest guys you'd ever meet. They borrowed our sound and lights and my band opened up for them at the Rex Hotel in Edmonton. Akira is the most humble guy you'd ever meet. The singer was hilarious.
Mick is NO hack sir. He is a more than competent player, who wrote and performed some of the most tasteful and memorable hard rock guitar parts of all time. His ability to play well is especially striking today as his Ankylosing Spondilitis has taken the mobility from all but his arms. He is a legend in his own time and whether you personally like is style or not, his achievments will never be negated.
My grandfather, who survived the Bataan Death March, and died in 1979, would be spinning in his grave to know that I've been jamming to a Japanese band since 1983.
Akira was one one of the best guitarists of the 80s, blending the melodic remnants of the 70s (Schenker et.al.) with shred and effects effortlessly. I put him right up there with George Lynch in that category. Great tunes too.
i have to say that loudness are the most technically proficient band i've ever seen! i am sad to hear that drummer munetaka higuchi passed away from liver cancer and will never get a chance to see them live again. they rock!
My ears rang for 2 days after the Minneapolis show- well worth it!!! Great show! Thanks again to Kilted Farmer for getting them here. Didn't look like Minneapolis was on the original tour schedule.
I remember those days in my teenage, i used to listen Loudness yeaah! Huuh hah! So powerful, i thought this band were americans but japanese. Well, you guys are great ! Extremely metal warriors!
Holy shit dudes this brings back fucking memories of stoner days in high school this was one of my favorite bands back in late 80s this song ripped this band kicked ass ohh man thanks for upload you made my day
In 1985 when I was 19, I remember listening to these guys with the drummer of my band and mimicking the singer cuz you could hear he was Asian. But we loved these songs. They're fucking great. Ashes in the Sky.

AKIRA Takasaki Rules !!!! So under-rated because the Vocals wer WOK and WOLL CWazy Nigts !!!! and a lot of folk never gave it a chance !!! One of my Top 10 guit players !!!
Metal and Rock still rule the airwaves in Japan and other parts of Asia. Yngvie records still go multi-platinum in Japan.
