I have been a HUGE Journey fan since 1978 and Steve Perry joining the band. My girlfriend and I would listen to Infinity over and over. Steve Perry was AMAZING, and took Journey to the HOF with his I thought Arnel did an incredible job here for the first show ever. This had to be VERY difficult for him, had to be nervous, OMG how could he had be not been. FIRST show, never played in front of an audience like this and with JOURNEY. He looked like he was just having fun out there ☺️
Although Steve Perry is "Journey" Just like "Paul Rodgers is Bad Co, Steven Tyler is Aerosmith & Mick Jaggers is Rolling Stones. That is a given. I saw Journey with Arnel on their 1st tour & he was Amazing. Sure & of course he was Nervous. He had some Huge shoes to fill. In my opinion. I think he did Steve Perry proud. Alot of these 70-80s bands are Re-uniting & touring again. I've been to Alot in the past few yrs. And they all sound Really freat. But, we went & seen Bad Company at the Brifgestone Arena in Nash -ville, Tn a couple yrs ago with Lynyrd Skynyrd & Jamie Johnson. who was the opening act. I'm a Huge Skynyd fan & have been for many yrs. But, Paul Rodgers/Bad Co is my favorite singer/band of all time. And i am sure if you ask Anyone who was at this concert that they will tell you the same thing. Which is Paul Rodgers/Bad Co TOOK the show. They were Spot On with their sound & sounded like you were playing one of their albums/cds. They were actually that GOOD. I Hope that Bad Co will do another Comeback Tour. If they comeback around & there's anyway possible..i WILL be there. But, they literally Blew both Jamie Johnson & Lynyrd Skynyrd away. Sorry Skynyrd fans as i am one roo. Just being Honest!!

His voice and passion - the whole story..... youtube, embassy, his moms influence, tragic heartbreak as a young child, sleeping on streets at 13, singing for food, guys humility, charity...... lets see - oh, and can sing any note SP could (can't anymore!) with better stage presence too - no wonder Niel can't wipe that ear to ear grin when Arnel hits some of those sustained notes.... Niel always a guitar God in my book with Hendrix, Santana, Clapton, Page, SRV, Prince and a handful of others. Band sounds better than ever. Sound happier than ever too. Just imagine how arnel handle and give his all out gift in music just to retain the soul of journey.. If I am fresh for this band. I think Arnel is perfect for this band.He has no desire to replace Steve Perry. Only one Steve Perry. Because Steve Perry left the band this kid caught a break from a very hard life.I think he is doing great being humble Arnel.He has a gift that the world needs to hear and also carry out the legacy of Journey. Arnel's first gig with the band. Pretty cool. I like in the doc about him that he was told to not jump around so much. haha, he's pretty good no matter his jumping too much
Man this is awesome. Imagine how Arnel must have felt when he walked on the stage and realized tens of thousands of people were there. No matter how much you rehearse, nothing can prepare you for that. He had only sang in small clubs to make money to provide scraps of food for his family before this. Yet he idolized Journey and the great Steve Perry. In this video it is very clear that through the first 4 or so songs he is lacking confidence. I am sure he is thinking things like, I can't do this or perhaps the audience will hate me. But by Wheel In The Sky his confidence kicked in and he totally owned the stage the rest of the way. Him and the band as well as the audience were feeding off each other. His charisma brought the place alive . I have seen Journey 8 times from 1983 to 2012. Those other two Journey replacement singers before Arnel did not have this kind of charisma and frankly the whole band just seemed to be going through the motions. Hell, even 1986 Journey seemed to not really be into it half the time. But Arnel's charisma gave the band life. Neal is rocking again. You can it on Jon's face from Wheel In The Sky on ward here. In fact I saw Jon and Ross both look at Ariel during Wheel In The Sky with a big smile. I know they were blown away at what was happening here. Arnel will never have to worry about feeding his family again. Great move Jon and Neal in taking a chance on Arnel. To everyone who says he can't sing like Steve I say who can. We all know Steve was the voice. But Arnel could perform and his voice is good. I have seen him 4 times and was never close to disappointed. And after seeing Jeff Scott Soto, Arnel seemed like Freddie Mercury.

I think Arnel was the perfect fit for Journey. He is able to bring that sound that everyone is used to but still be himself. If it sounds like Journey and acts like Journey then by all means *"Let The Journey Begin"*

I only discovered AP in yr 2020 during the pandemic lockdown, its the only time i search music in youtube since am always busy from home to work versa, and I was then amazed by his story and his talent, i do tears of Joy to what is happening in his life and family now.🙏🙏🙏✌❤
Journey is a very, very loved band in Chile and the Viña Del Mar Festival has had a lot of big stars in several decades and that’s why I think the Chilean audience is one of the best in the world. Journey has played in Chile about 4 or 5 times and have always loved it, there are a bunch of videos of shows with different bands and just check out the audiences, they always have a great time so that makes the music be awesome

Guys. Don't compare steve and arnel.. arnel give justice of what journey had for the past years steve was the lead vocalist. Just imagine how arnel handle and give his all out gift in music just to retain the soul of journey.. If I am fresh for this band. I would thought that arnel is the original lead vocalist of journey..
I think Arnel is perfect for this band.He has no desire to replace Steve Perry. Only one Steve Perry. Because Steve Perry left the band this kid caught a break from a very hard life.I think he is doing great being humble Arnel.He has a gift that the world needs to hear and also carry out the legacy of Journey. Man this is awesome. Imagine how Arnel must have felt when he walked on the stage and realized tens of thousands of people were there. No matter how much you rehearse, nothing can prepare you for that.
He had only sang in small clubs to make money to provide scraps of food for his family before this. Yet he idolized Journey and the great Steve Perry.
In this video it is very clear that through the first 4 or so songs he is lacking confidence. I am sure he is thinking things like, I can't do this or perhaps the audience will hate me.
But by Wheel In The Sky his confidence kicked in and he totally owned the stage the rest of the way. Him and the band as well as the audience were feeding off each other.
His charisma brought the place alive . I have seen Journey 8 times from 1983 to 2012. Those other two Journey replacement singers before Arnel did not have this kind of charisma and frankly the whole band just seemed to be going through the motions. Hell, even 1986 Journey seemed to not really be into it half the time.
But Arnel's charisma gave the band life. Neal is rocking again. You can it on Jon's face from Wheel In The Sky on ward here. In fact I saw Jon and Ross both look at Ariel during Wheel In The Sky with a big smile. I know they were blown away at what was happening here.
Arnel will never have to worry about feeding his family again. Great move Jon and Neal in taking a chance on Arnel. To everyone who says he can't sing like Steve I say who can. We all know Steve was the voice. But Arnel could perform and his voice is good. I have seen him 4 times and was never close to disappointed. And after seeing Jeff Scott Soto, Arnel seemed like Freddie Mercury.

Journey is a very, very loved band in Chile and the Viña Del Mar Festival has had a lot of big stars in several decades and that’s why I think the Chilean audience is one of the best in the world. Journey has played in Chile about 4 or 5 times and have always loved it, there are a bunch of videos of shows with different bands and just check out the audiences, they always have a great time so that makes the music be awesome
