Important historic events have worn me out. "May you live in interesting times," is supposed to be a curse; I didn't believe it but I do now. So glad to see Dean and Nala again, somehow I missed the last 2 postings, something to enjoy now.
Glad that Nala and her Papa Dean are safe in Barcelona, Spain & head back home for awhile. A change in plans is needed for sure. It's so good for Nala to have fans in every country. Be safe out there. Thumbs up as always.
Your home turf would be interesting to most of us. You are used to the highlands, castles, lochs, canals, etc but for us it would be all new and exciting. Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Ireland should make for some interesting exploring and add to Nala’s country count! There is also the Scandinavian peninsula that could be explored in the summer. Once Nala has fully recovered and you have had a good rest up with your family please consider exploring closer to home. I hope you both are enjoying your visit with Gran.
To be fair - only Wales, Ireland & Northern Ireland are on Nala’s “unvisited” list As she’s clearly done England & Scotland last year when Dean returned home to visit his Gran & family I know Dean is planning on visiting Wales soon with Nala & I think Leona to plant trees… I don’t know when exactly or where but think it’s set for near Cardiff area (like around Brecon Beacons) but unconfirmed at the time of writing this comment I can’t say anything about either Ireland but yeah at least Wales will be added to Nala’s ever growing listed of visited countries

The long silence was due to: A: Dean travelling in a van (sorry for the spoiler) & therefore not having any wifi to upload vids B: Nala getting sick as previous comments have mentioned & Dean focussing on Nala’s recovery Also Dean is active daily (usually) on Facebook & Instagram (stories) - as that’s how many of us are aware of this information!
So it sounds like Dean left Spain and headed to Scotland, but unsure why... Then Nala got sick while they were in Scotland. My understanding is that they are still in Scotland and these videos he is posting now of travels that took place weeks ago. So this vlog for instance is not showing yesterday's travels but travels from weeks ago. Is that correct?
@@flok.8317 So when a follower watches both Dean’s real-time Facebook & Instagram stories Vs his UA-cam videos Prior to this… he’d normally allow the UA-cam videos to be about 2 weeks behind - makes sense for a UA-camr if you record stuff daily etc So Dean whilst in Spain etc said that he needed his knee looked at; so someone he stayed with (will be staying with in a future video) - or a doctor in Spain (can’t remember which!) Arranged for Dean to meet a specialist in Austria (I think?!) Because that would take weeks upon weeks of cycling, Dean opted to rent a van, again 😊 And drive there - all clear from the specialist aka no operation required! So given Dean was basically stuck in mainland Europe & can’t exactly travel eastbound at the moment for obvious reasons He opted to return home - I think because A obviously missed his family B give his knee time to rest C a “holiday” of sorts for him & Nala D his birthday was upcoming That support for Ukraine rally/ protest was dated more or less within days of when Russia (unfortunately 😰) finally crossed the boarders & invaded Ukraine - (26th Feb to be exact) As Dean admitted that being in the van, Nala getting sick etc did delay his UA-cam upload schedule Now he’s doing his best to edit & upload as fast as he can (and get to that approx 2 week window as mentioned) Plus being at home for the time being means he can refocus & replan his journey going ahead, can catch up on any behind-the-scenes stuff for 1Bike1World such as any website stuff or chatting with Leona for example Dean is also currently having a revamp of the bike by his bike specialist Colin (I think his name was) - same guy who custom-fitted the trailer to the bike … such as new handlebars for the bike & a new permanent basket for Nala - something more secure to the bike that’ll last! Plus ideally more shock absorbent/ not as shaky etc for Nala Dean is also considering cycling around Scotland such as the NC500 - which apparently is a great route for cycling as I’m told?! And overall it’s just a nice break from the norm for Dean & Nala! - a much deserved break for both So I write this message as a one of reassurance (spoilers I know & I’m sorry) but hope it helps as we like this to be a community of calm & understanding as I’m sure you definitely are! Man! As sweet as she is, Nala is a rough and tough fighter when it comes to her toys, as well as catching anything that is crawling around on the ground (mice, lizards, etc). The ferry room was so nice, very surprising!! WOW! Such loyal and loving fans Nala has!! Waiting at night for the ferry to come in. That is IMPRESSIVE!! By now, everyone knows how the Russian invasion of Ukraine is going, the horrible loss of life and the absolutely horror of the crimes against civilians. There are actually charities that are set up to help locate and feed all of the animals and pets that have been displaced by the war. If even a few pets can be reunited with their families, it would be wonderful. Ukrainian people have lost so much, all we can do is give what we can, and pray for Ukraine's safety and success in their efforts to save their country and people. Such amazing and wonderful people, I wish you could have made it across so we could have see so much, that is now lost forever.
Love the scenery on the ferry ⛴. I once saw a video of a guy who took a big ferry like that around Japan. He was on it I think 2 days and had all kinds of things to do. Very interesting and cool!! It's nice that you could walk Nala about and even take her to the cafeteria. On BC ferries animals have to stay in the lower deck where there are no amenities, just cars :(

You've had quite a go of things these past few years Dean. Between injury and illness for both you and Nala, a global pandemic, and now the invasion of Ukraine. It was also related to Nala being very sick for awhile once they got home. Now that she's better, Dean's catching up on vids.
The long silence was due to:
A: Dean travelling in a van (sorry for the spoiler) & therefore not having any wifi to upload vids
B: Nala getting sick as previous comments have mentioned & Dean focussing on Nala’s recovery
Also Dean is active daily (usually) on Facebook & Instagram (stories) - as that’s how many of us are aware of this information!
So it sounds like Dean left Spain and headed to Scotland, but unsure why... Then Nala got sick while they were in Scotland. My understanding is that they are still in Scotland and these videos he is posting now of travels that took place weeks ago. So this vlog for instance is not showing yesterday's travels but travels from weeks ago. Is that correct?

So when a follower watches both Dean’s real-time Facebook & Instagram stories Vs his UA-cam videos
Prior to this… he’d normally allow the UA-cam videos to be about 2 weeks behind - makes sense for a UA-camr if you record stuff daily etc
So Dean whilst in Spain etc said that he needed his knee looked at; so someone he stayed with (will be staying with in a future video) - or a doctor in Spain (can’t remember which!)
Arranged for Dean to meet a specialist in Austria (I think?!)
Because that would take weeks upon weeks of cycling, Dean opted to rent a van, again 😊
And drive there - all clear from the specialist aka no operation required!
So given Dean was basically stuck in mainland Europe & can’t exactly travel eastbound at the moment for obvious reasons
He opted to return home - I think because
A obviously missed his family
B give his knee time to rest
C a “holiday” of sorts for him & Nala
D his birthday was upcoming
That support for Ukraine rally/ protest was dated more or less within days of when Russia (unfortunately 😰) finally crossed the boarders & invaded Ukraine - (26th Feb to be exact)
As Dean admitted that being in the van, Nala getting sick etc did delay his UA-cam upload schedule
Now he’s doing his best to edit & upload as fast as he can (and get to that approx 2 week window as mentioned)
Plus being at home for the time being means he can refocus & replan his journey going ahead, can catch up on any behind-the-scenes stuff for 1Bike1World such as any website stuff or chatting with Leona for example
Dean is also currently having a revamp of the bike by his bike specialist Colin (I think his name was) - same guy who custom-fitted the trailer to the bike
… such as new handlebars for the bike & a new permanent basket for Nala - something more secure to the bike that’ll last! Plus ideally more shock absorbent/ not as shaky etc for Nala
Dean is also considering cycling around Scotland such as the NC500 - which apparently is a great route for cycling as I’m told?!
And overall it’s just a nice break from the norm for Dean & Nala! - a much deserved break for both
So I write this message as a one of reassurance (spoilers I know & I’m sorry) but hope it helps as we like this to be a community of calm & understanding as I’m sure you definitely are!

How about having Nala be the first cat to go from John O’Groats to Land’s End? You could even raise a good amount of cash for charity with your massive reach! Wow poor NALA very Cold on that Trip….you dress like your in Alaska and I never thought of Spain as being very Cold but I was lucky in my Med Trips….mostly Summer. Very proud of NALA…..She is a good Travel Companion.

Man! As sweet as she is, Nala is a rough and tough fighter when it comes to her toys, as well as catching anything that is crawling around on the ground (mice, lizards, etc). The ferry room was so nice, very surprising!! WOW! Such loyal and loving fans Nala has!! Waiting at night for the ferry to come in. That is IMPRESSIVE!! By now, everyone knows how the Russian invasion of Ukraine is going, the horrible loss of life and the absolutely horror of the crimes against civilians. There are actually charities that are set up to help locate and feed all of the animals and pets that have been displaced by the war. If even a few pets can be reunited with their families, it would be wonderful. Ukrainian people have lost so much, all we can do is give what we can, and pray for Ukraine's safety and success in their efforts to save their country and people. Such amazing and wonderful people, I wish you could have made it across so we could have see so much, that is now lost forever.
Love the scenery on the ferry ⛴. I once saw a video of a guy who took a big ferry like that around Japan. He was on it I think 2 days and had all kinds of things to do. Very interesting and cool!!
