The instant Pioneer 2 music to start the video hit me like a brick, I love PSO so much Personally, 3D hub worlds in Sonic have been kinda annoying in my experience, when I play Sonic games I've tended to mostly be in for the core gameplay and getting lost in the hub worlds when looking for the next objective would be obtrusive. But I have gained appreciation for their immersion, attention to detail and beauty, especially with age. I imagine that in a game with proper map markers or objective reminders like what Frontiers had, hub worlds could be easier to navigate while preserving their charm
That was a nice video on hub worlds. I'm surprised you didn't talk about Eggman Land when talking about Sonic Unleashed's hub worlds. I'd also say that Sonic Lost World's map and the Gaia temples from the Wii/PS2 versions of Sonic Unleashed deserve honorable mentions, too. I'm not sure what my favorite hub world is, maybe Apotos. I also like Soleana Forest, but I'd probably say that's my second favorite.
Hub Worlds are really fun when they can add the the game and story in meaningful ways. I know a bunch of people say that SA2 should have hub worlds and is worse for not having them, but for SA2’s all-around-the-world adventure and go-go-go type story, it doesn’t work that easily. But games like SA1 are fun because they make the game work around it. The egg carrier has a bunch of secrets to find and the whole transformation, you get to see characters take the train to travel, you even get to see Tails’s lab! The story as a result becomes very relaxed though since you can easily get distracted but it’s a good distraction. I only wish there were more Chao Eggs to find because I’m insane lol
@@SafalmaoHalf of SA2's story is literally on a timer until the earth blows up, of course it won't have sections where you can rest. The concept of HUB worlds just doesn't work with SA2's pacing and story

Sonic Adventures' hub worlds are amazing. I still have dreams where I explore those worlds and find a secret areas with additional boss fights or something like that)
@@RoshiBro08 well sorry, that as a Saxophone user, I don't like, when every music, that has saxophone in it called Jazz, because it undermines actual jazz music, like in case of Empire city, or night songs of many levels
It's so funny. When I played sonic adventure as a kid I thought the world was huge and had all these secrets but after playing it a couple months ago I can see how wrong I was. I still love them but I just find it funny how big things seemed back then
18:00 I remember when I was a kid I’d keep getting Tails to fall into the water for shits and giggles but at a certain point he just straight up died. like upon respawning he weakly cried out “sonic…” and just laid there motionless
SA1’s hubs are my favorites. They all have so much charm to them, from the city full of people who all have their own little storylines going on, to the jungle that you could really get lost in, to the Egg Carrier with its insane detail for the time with all the moving parts and fun stuff like the canons and the room that changes the shape of the ship. They also have the Chao Gardens so that’s another big plus. Also I don’t know if it’s just in Better SADX or if it was always like this, but it’s cool that after beating the game Sonic can access the Sand Hill boarding level from the jungle. Sonic World in Jam is another fun one. It’s really simple, but I’ve spent way too much time running around it just having fun with the museums and watching the old Saturn models. I like how Tails sometimes comes down and can carry Sonic around the area.
Adventures hub was so informational and fun, I'll always go back to the newspaper lady when i hop into a load after being gone for a while to get brought up to date.
Hey Chaomix, first! I love the new style for Sonic in the thumbnail. Also about the hub worlds my fav Hub World is Sonic Unleashed or Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) hub worlds. So many people to talk to as you explore to new stages.
Sonic Adventure still has a great hub world. I will still boot it up just to run around for a little bit. It makes me sad that I got the poor man's Sonic Unleashed on Wii. No hub worlds, just a splash page with selectable points. But in Sonic Adventure, I actually used the Station Square hub world as a reference point when I wrote about some of my OC's going there. One character had just suffered a traumatic event, so his wife took him to Station Square to simply get away from it all for a while. It was so much fun in my imagination expanding on what we saw in both the hub world and the levels around it. Having them playing in Twinkle Park or visiting restaurants by City Hall. I even had the chao garden just being a massive indoor garden for the hotel guests to enjoy, this was before the chao were really part of the universe in my mind. But the hub worlds also seem embolize what I like about the Sonic Universe anymore, the idea of it being a big place to play in. Ian Flynn's writing in the comics, even pre-reboot in Archie really sold the idea that it was a big sandbox to play in. When Bean and Bark suddenly showed up on airboards, it blew my mind. Then post NU-252 when we had the Sonic Transformed cars showing up not as race cars but as regular sized cars they used to get around, I was again amazed at how fun it would be to live in this world. I can even see chao gardens being places where couples go on picnic dates.
Honestly, white space should have changed based in character being used. This would give more purpose to switching, as classic sonic would use this hub world, and would have easier access to the levels, but morden sonic could have more challenges and better access to the shop with it being in the center.
sonic adventure 1 was my entire childhood, but i never played the second game until recently. i bought both games and replayed through the first one (still loving it just as much as i did as a kid). but when i started the second, i was kinda disappointed that adventure fields were gone tbh
meanwhile I gained nothing from the video except that the flintstones running sound effect over the Sonic 06 mach speed sections will go on to live rent free in my head
My favourite hub world is Unleashed, but both Adventure and 06 are great. I remember going around the hub world in 06 as a kid having fun, not actually entering wave ocean. Not once.
You forgot a hub world, eggmanland has a hub world that can be accessed after beating the game, there aren’t any extra levels, but there are hot dog challenges
Awesome Deep Dive into all of the Sonic Hub Worlds, especially Sonic Jam’s Sonic World, it’s a shame not many Sonic Fans can experience that one since it’s exclusively on Sega Saturn but with that aside, Station Square, Mystic Ruins and Egg Carrier are my absolute favorite hub worlds, I won’t hide my bias since SA1 was one of my first Sonic Games, the Atmosphere, Music and City Folk really make them all very memorable, I’m a New Yorker and whenever I’m in Downtown Manhattan or riding the Trains, I always have the Station Square Music playing in my head!🗽🌃
Hub worlds are so much fun when you have free time to explore in every sonic games from Sonic Adventure 1&2, Sonic 06, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Generations, and Sonic Frontiers. ✨
22:28 I find it so cool how each sonic game has different looking humans, I think sonic adventure 1 was more anime inspired, 06 was trying to be realistic and unleashed fits sonics world the best to me
The golden globe in Empire City is probably a reference to that globe fountain in Queens by the US Open grounds. My favorite hub world is definitely Chaos Island in Frontiers!
Yeah, the hub worlds in Sonic games are super distinct, that's for sure. While the hub worlds from Sonic Adventure are top tier, I've also gotta give a special shout-out to Sonic Jam's Sonic World, as that too oozes with charm!
I never got to play the full version of Sonic Unleashed, I remember just playing the Demo multiple times for hours on end. I had no idea it had hub worlds and that they were this gorgeous!
24:04 I always saw this as a combination of the globe that used to be displayed in the World Trade Center Plaza and the 59th street Trump building globe. As a native from Manhattan, I always loved this stage's design (though it's not my favorite in the game)!

and influential people from Sonic team that leave the company after Sammy forced merge we never got the true vision that they planned for Sonic 2006.
The instant Pioneer 2 music to start the video hit me like a brick, I love PSO so much
Personally, 3D hub worlds in Sonic have been kinda annoying in my experience, when I play Sonic games I've tended to mostly be in for the core gameplay and getting lost in the hub worlds when looking for the next objective would be obtrusive.
I only wish there were more Chao Eggs to find because I’m insane lol
crazy how unleashed is about a "all-around-the-world adventure" but still has hub worlds, there is no excuses for sa2 not having hub but sa1 does.
@@SafalmaoHalf of SA2's story is literally on a timer until the earth blows up, of course it won't have sections where you can rest. The concept of HUB worlds just doesn't work with SA2's pacing and story
of course..
he has no time for walking around, but he has time to walk around and level up chao?? like bru use ur brain.@@HruMan360
@@Safalmao The Chao keys are way easier to take as "just a game mechanic" than talking to people in HUBs for me, since the Chao stuff is so disconnected from everything else while the HUBs are a part of the game to make you feel you immersed in the game's world
@@HruMan360 bruv, "just a game mechanic" and " a part of the game to make you feel you immersed in the game's world" are the same exact thing, you're just being silly now.
Unleashed will likely always be my favorite sonic game because I played the 360 version some years after the ps2 version (I think i played it after generations even)
And it didnt just feel like another version. it felt like an entire remake on a similar level to ff7r. Absolutely blew me away. i remember the absolute joy i had when I realized you could actually walk around the locations now and seeing all the details put into it
My favorite thing to do in SA1 was just picking Knuckles and glide from the top of the ruin pyramid to outside the cliff until he lands on the edge.
I appreciate the phantasy star online menu music at the start 🎉
Shadow Generations: The hub world has returned, FRONTIERS STYLE!!!!
Hub worlds are fun because they allow you to just have fun running around and exploring stuff and not have to worry too much on what you need to do…I really enjoy Unleashed because of how diverse and different each one is and how distinct they are up close.
I enjoyed the tour of hub world @Chaomix
I LOVE HUB WORLDS IN SONIC! Thank you for the video, Chaomix! 🙏
"Yes I had a lot of free time as a kid"
"Eggman must have some insane pull" 🤣🤣
Oh boy, how my favorite hub world is THE ENTIRETY OF FRONTIERS
Hub worlds are YES WORLDS
The sonic 06 running animation with cartoon running sounds mix surprisingly well
13:45 HOLY SHIT ITS RYAN GOSLING!!! I AM LITERALLY IN A SONIC GAME OMG
21:33 casually drops choamix lore
Sonic Adventures' hub worlds are amazing. I still have dreams where I explore those worlds and find a secret areas with additional boss fights or something like that)
22:46 can you all stop?
Just because it has Saxophone, doesn't automatically makes it jazzy.
No need to be rude about it. Dang.
I still love them but I just find it funny how big things seemed back then
9:06 fun fact that rock wall is actually the lower half of Angel island that crashed into the mystic ruins
5:46 Those are ticket booths?! I thought they were just for decoration!!!
23:30 ah yes, the Hyrulean instinct to destroy every pot in the world, except now it's for absolutely no reason.
My favorite sonic content channel drops another banger 🔥 the hub worlds are my favorite part of sonic games
0:33 There is a ghost behind you
Hey Chaomix, first! I love the new style for Sonic in the thumbnail. Also about the hub worlds my fav Hub World is Sonic Unleashed or Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) hub worlds. So many people to talk to as you explore to new stages.
“And some Eggman bulls**t all the way at the end” is crazy-
Sonic Adventure still has a great hub world.
11:49 I’m never gonna forgive you for leaving your mouse on the screen.
14:15 this made me remember seeing the burger guy NPC in Adventure spinning in a circle recently lmao
I went to Greece in summer 2021 and the apotos segment of this video reminded me of the fun I had there.
Honestly, white space should have changed based in character being used. This would give more purpose to switching, as classic sonic would use this hub world, and would have easier access to the levels, but morden sonic could have more challenges and better access to the shop with it being in the center.
13:44 "Hello Sonic, I am way too much animated"
Dude, Phantasy Star Online hub music for the start? Iconic. Great choice.
Man I still remember playing Sonic Adventure
playing Sonic daily life in Station Square imagining his interactions with all his people, visiting Tails
The PSO music is just too perfect. One of the best hub worlds of all time
sonic adventure 1 was my entire childhood, but i never played the second game until recently. i bought both games and replayed through the first one (still loving it just as much as i did as a kid). but when i started the second, i was kinda disappointed that adventure fields were gone tbh
Always wanted a video on this topic
When you finish sonic unleashed you can come back to eggmanland and walk around the entrance with the big gold eggman statue
I think the Eggmanland hub from unleshsed is the best purely because you can talk to the Egg Fighters
meanwhile I gained nothing from the video except that the flintstones running sound effect over the Sonic 06 mach speed sections will go on to live rent free in my head
Holoska at night with that music is the most beautiful hub world imo
Congrats on 100K Chaomix 🎉
My favourite hub world is Unleashed, but both Adventure and 06 are great. I remember going around the hub world in 06 as a kid having fun, not actually entering wave ocean. Not once.
Can’t wait for more great content!
That green and red poster you mentioned in the burger shop is actually a weird, possibly scrapped, spider character!
You forgot a hub world, eggmanland has a hub world that can be accessed after beating the game, there aren’t any extra levels, but there are hot dog challenges
sonic hub worlds are truly smthn special
Welcome to Station Square!
Awesome Deep Dive into all of the Sonic Hub Worlds, especially Sonic Jam’s Sonic World, it’s a shame not many Sonic Fans can experience that one since it’s exclusively on Sega Saturn but with that aside,
Station Square, Mystic Ruins and Egg Carrier are my absolute favorite hub worlds, I won’t hide my bias since SA1 was one of my first Sonic Games, the Atmosphere, Music and City Folk really make them all very memorable, I’m a New Yorker and whenever I’m in Downtown Manhattan or riding the Trains, I always have the Station Square Music playing in my head!🗽🌃
24:08 that came out of nowhere but I died laughing
the pso music just hit me in ways i didn't expect
Because Sonic adventure 2 was my first ever 3D Sonic game I can officially say that the a chao guarded was the best experience for me
Hub worlds are so much fun when you have free time to explore in every sonic games from Sonic Adventure 1&2, Sonic 06, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Generations, and Sonic Frontiers. ✨
Adventure 2 DOESN'NT have a world hub
22:28 I find it so cool how each sonic game has different looking humans, I think sonic adventure 1 was more anime inspired, 06 was trying to be realistic and unleashed fits sonics world the best to me
when chaomix uploads you know its boutta be a W day
Rush Adventure's island hub is kind of neat
The golden globe in Empire City is probably a reference to that globe fountain in Queens by the US Open grounds.
My favorite hub world is definitely Chaos Island in Frontiers!
Way past cool! And I did leave a fat like 👍🏾
Just in time for me to watch this while I eat lunch lets go.
Man, Unleashed is so beatiful. Hub Worlds are many of the reasons. No joke, that game makes me wanna travel.
Sonic unleashed has my favorite hubs
Keep up the awesome work and videos chaomix love the video
Yeah, the hub worlds in Sonic games are super distinct, that's for sure. While the hub worlds from Sonic Adventure are top tier, I've also gotta give a special shout-out to Sonic Jam's Sonic World, as that too oozes with charm!
I never got to play the full version of Sonic Unleashed, I remember just playing the Demo multiple times for hours on end. I had no idea it had hub worlds and that they were this gorgeous!
Bro buy thr game and play its amazing
24:04 I always saw this as a combination of the globe that used to be displayed in the World Trade Center Plaza and the 59th street Trump building globe. As a native from Manhattan, I always loved this stage's design (though it's not my favorite in the game)!
