The reason why disco music was so alive compared to dance music of today is because every sound was alive, percussions, guitars, everything was recorded with a band. Such energy and feeling!
I rushed out and bought this album the day it was released in NYC decades ago. This song was perfect then and it's perfect now. This was SOUL music, y'all!
The production, arrangement, and playing on this track are ridiculously good - not to mention the perfectly pitched hard-boiled soul vocals. The extended mix is a tour-de-force, somebody worked their ass off to create this. Could not be repeated. Have loved this for years!
I remember Linda Clifford being introduced by Don Cornelius on Soul Train. I think she was wearing over the knee boots, had ALL that hair and looking beautiful. She opened her mouth to sing and BABY! THAT VOICE! Rediscovered this song a week ago and have been playing it over and over non-stop....even when it's not playing, I can hear the voice, the instrumentation...WOW!
@@marionbrown3901 it's a corker. These ones need to be under 4 mins or over 7 in my opinion. Once isn't enough. I'm loving That's All a Part of Loving Him Tommie Young this week.
I think you kind of misread my statement. I was not talking exclusively about this song, but rather how often Linda Clifford was and has been overlooked as one of the most potent vocalists of the Disco era. Typically when this era is recalled by pundits, they mention Donna Summer and Gloria Gaynor, but often leave out the name of Linda Clifford. Hence my statement, "Linda Clifford (and the Jones Girls) was one of the most slept on singers of the Disco era!" She got a lot of airplay in certain regions and at many clubs, but she never did receive the accolades and monetary rewards that were commensurate to her tremendous talent.
@Maureen Elliston - What make and model car? Ford Pinto or a AMC Javelin? LOL... My first car was a 1972 Ford Pinto hatchback yellow with twin black stripes in the middle. Looked really HOT!
I remember the NYC club Better Days. Linda's voice is taking me back. The raw emotion made the entire club move. You've got to be soulless not to feel the story Linda telling us!
+Malik Tutt So good to hear. I'm sure your brother was awesome! R.I.P. ,your brother and all the other angels that left us to soon.. I'm happy you have such great memories of him burning up the floor. Your brother got to enjoy a very special era, full of fun, excitement and joy.
This is an authentic TIME Machine! If you lived with this as part of your life's soundtrack at 3am in some room in NYC where the bricks were melting from the sweat of bodies moving to this sound… OMG I'm 30 again!

These old classics have so much soul and feeling in them, the live musicians, great singers and recording to tape, TODAY it's impossible to capture these feelings with digital nowadays.
Totally agree Manuel. Seems like the more tech involved in music today the more it's become generic and bland. Nothing beats the feeling of a live musician.
man this funky tune brings back memories and yes!!
